Had this with mine, changed the coil pack, upgraded the ht leads, and put better spark plugs in and it sorted it. Changing the rear plugs is a pain covered that on my channel mate. Good to see you back
As @Simon Green has already pointed out, the breather hoses are normally all black on genuine Ford pipes. I had the same pipe split on mine and also found the breather pipe on the rear of the UIM split. This is a common fault on these which can cause rough running and idling. I also had engine fault codes saying it was running lean on one of the banks. Keep up the good work lads, look after them ST's 👍
I have one in machine silver 2005 six speed and runs slow 16s and 17 1/4 mile it drives fine but seens down on power my 5 speed ran mid 15s stock 🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️ Great video
The ST220 has a great sounding V6. A good job it was just the coil pack because when it's not the or the leads it often points to a much worse and costly problem.
I’d always love to have one of these!! One of my most favourite car since beginning of teenager!! One of the lovely motors I’ve ever interested in!! You and Gary are so lucky to have one of those and number plates!! Especially Martin’s!! 😍♥️ I’m glad it’s not the the injectors or the spark plugs cos all the manifolds gonna come off like you’ve said!
That yellow pipe you pointed out isn’t correct at all oem are black with a dull green line, or aftermarket silicone pipe, be good to see some repair/maintenance videos on the st220 👍🏻 keep up the good work both you 🙏🏻
@@professionalidiots101 I'll say one thing for the Renault, bugger all rust on the one I had. I bought a Kia diesel after that and the kia has more rust than you'd expect on a 2012 car. My old scenic was scrapped as the lad I virtually gave it to didn't look after it and siezed the engine as the expansion bottle had a pin hole and he ran it out of water.... some people don't deserve a decent car.
@@terryatkinson899 Agreed sir. I loved my migraine, until a vehicle decided to give me a heavy impact in the boot. Afterwards I was sitting in the back seat because of the force. Reliability 4/10 safety 8/10 👍🏻 Ps for anyone reading this, it was a mighty strong steed, a 1996 Megan Coupé.
Hi mate Motorcraft is genuine Ford mate For your handbrake cable Under middle heat shield second from the front there is the tension 16mm nut to release it Your bonnet there is a plastic tube with teeth on the end they wear out over time can get a new one but metal ones don’t buy one of them because in the winter they freeze up Best to get a used one good one The yellow breather pipe They wear over time that’s eBay type silicon one which is fine you can get all different colours You can get genuine ford plugs for £36 for 6 on eBay through a genuine ford seller Your xenon headlights need the new rubbers which you can get from Fords as well If you got Instagram my one is St220 saloon Very nice video that mate keep it up
TIP: Always use what the car came from from the factory when it come to plugs and coil packs.. Don't trust ebay when buying plugs and coil packs are they are flooded with Chinese copys/fakes. Your best changing the plugs if your changing the coil pack.. Will last you a hell of a lot longer especially with that type of cassette coil pack where you have to buy all 6 instead of one. 👍
They don't like being sat n not started regularly in damp/wet weather. My 220 does it, if i leave it parked right at the top end of my driveway during this time of year. The Sun doesn't get on that part till midday. It literally will do it for a min or so, then clears. If i park the opposite end of the driveway, where the Sun is on it early morning, it's fine. I did have an ongoing issue, which would cause a random misfire and Eml whilst driving, several years ago. That turned out to be the coil pack. They crack with the heat from the engine, with age. Common fault on these as these engines kick out a lot of heat. Stupid idea by Fords, to bolt the coil pack onto the ally rocker cover !

Your Mondeo ST is a very desirable car. As an owner of a late (2010) Alfa 159 ti Sportwagon (lovely car that it is), I am slightly envious.
Nice to see Gary getting back into the swing of things, good team work.👍

Nice to see Gary getting dirty again have you not got a tester for that Martin
Yes I have Gary.
why is it allways a missfire on the rear, inaccesible plugs?
He's not put E10 in by any chance.?
I remember a Renault Migraine that I had, it had a similar fault.
Yes I did say Migraine..... It's more appropriate than Megan 👍🏻
Had a scenic and they eat coils... still have 4 in the shed that I bought and never used.
@@terryatkinson899 Sell them quickly before all the old Renault's are scrapped 👍🏻🤣😂🤣

Swap the leads at the coil end instead.
