For those wondering, rugby (both 7s and 15s) doesn't actually have stoppage time like soccer. They actually stop the clock when they don't want it to run. It's just that the final play is allowed to continue past the end (zero in 7s, 80 in 15s) until there is a score or a scrum or the ball goes into touch (out of bounds). This means that play does continue on a penalty so the if the penalty is in favor of the trailing team, they will tap and go or kick for goal depending on how many points they need. If the winning team is awarded the penalty, they'll just kick it out of bounds and end the game.
A few things to add to that: Not every scrum ends the game, only when there is a knock on (ball is hit forward off of the upper body) or forward pass. If a scrum is elected from a penalty or free kick, play continues. 2. A team can kick into touch off of a penalty and play will continue and it will be their lineout. If the offended team wants to end the game, they must tap the ball to their foot first and then kick it into touch.
Maybe just use the clock proper like most sports do, in play i counts down, plays stopped it stops, end of the period, quarter, ot (whatever) is the end. Then there wouldnt be any questions.
And that's why the Canadian Football League, still runs a play with no time left on the clock after each quarter. It kept some of the rules from it's original rugby days.
Yeah, if it just went back to a Canadian at the point, or left the zone then no-harm-no-foul... but when it creates a direct change of possession, it simply has to be called.
I'd say thats a trip, she slashed at the skates, probably hoping to get the puck but ended up getting the skates instead, maybe not intentional but for sure would be worthy of a tripping call
Agreed. Not wanting to call stuff in OT is understandable, but if that team gains possessions from a non-call and scores, it makes you look wayy worse.
Even if anyone's gonna say it wasn't that bad, those people just haven't been slashed before. If you hit the wrong spot there, your whole foot could go numb. Source: happened to me 😅
@@nolanmcleod2619 I wore big goalie pads so never happened to me. I took many pucks off the top of my knee cap though and my goodness they were painful. Made you forget how to breathe lol
About the IIHF Women's World Championship, it just concluded today in Utica, and Canada would triumph, defeating USA 6-5 in overtime. The winner was scored by Danielle Serdachny just over five minutes into OT. On a lighter note for a player on USA, Hilary Knight became the most decorated player in women's worlds history, earning her 14th medal at the competition. This total surpasses the previous mark of 13, which was held by Canadian Hayley Wickenheiser.
Yeah that Canada Team is RIDICULOUS in Gold Medal games. They just know how to win the Big one.... not that the US hasn't won gold, just that Canada does it way more. But great game by both teams. 👏👏👏
I imagine that cornhole match was held in some random hotel convention room and that guy peeking is a local employee just like, wtf is all this yelling going on. Probably got complaints from the bingo game in the next room.
The Simms no call trip was rewarded in the gold medal game when a referee called a too many skaters on the ice during sudden death OT and Canada scored with :02 seconds left on the PP to win the match. It was a hell of game in Utica, NY.
What Sportscenter and ESPN 2 did for the 00s on tv, Jomboy is doing for the 2020s on here. Often singlehanded. You know the sportscaster is impeccable when youre tuned in to beanbag toss and FRA v. AUS women’s rugby.
The Aussies and Kiwis are running rampant in the rugby Sevens series. The Levi sisters are some really impressive athletes, and the Kiwis have won three in a row now I believe.
One day this underhand corn hole is going to look silly. It's going to eventually be 80 mph pitches straight into the hole, extreme spin/reverse spin attacks that need to reach terminal velocity by going sky high first, most viewed sport in history.
1. Rugby 7s being on the same sized field as 15s makes it sooo tough to play 2. French forwards did their job dominating the scrum at the end, but maybe should’ve made sure the scrum half was alert to it! The Aussie getting to the ball first is heinous there
Jomboy is such a handsome man. I love the videos! As I’ve been busier this past year, I’ve felt myself fading from sports but you keep me in it. Even introduced me to both cricket (and by proxy BIP) and baseball. One of my favorite RUclips channels, one that I can confidently say has helped me through some stuff. Thanks Jimmy, and tell Rourke he’s my favorite (excluding WGI)
2:13 Thats pretty cool that you made a point to mention their names. I know the nature of breakdowns/TYM prevents you from naming the athletes a lot of the time, and that makes sense, but that is kind of you to do it when possible/appropriate
Just want to give props that you dont identify a clip as coming from womens sports. You just dive right in. Typical Jomboy style. Been following for years!! 👏👏
i don't like handball. every time jimmy does a clip i just think "who likes this??", and he's going highlights. but i am in love with slapball. there are some rules to tweak for next season for sure, but i would go watch it if i were you. and once game 4 comes out, i will too.

Something small I noticed and really appreciated in this vid: Both in the rugby breakdown and the hockey breakdown, you didn’t feel the need to say “women’s” rugby or “women’s” hockey. I’m so used to hearing that before seeing “women’s” sports highlights that I was actually surprised they each weren’t men’s teams and was able to check my own bias there. Little things like this are huge and go a long way towards everyone appreciating all sports for what they are: just great sports. No qualifiers needed!
I’m gonna need a break down of *something* from the geogeussr Euro champs that took place this weekend. The final was pretty dang tense, went to the last location in the last round
Canada had the hockey gods on their side. They lost this round robin but they won in OT in the Gold Medal Game. It is what we Canadians do. Our game ....
Hard to say about the no call in hockey. First angle looks like a tap to the shins and a dive but the second looks like her foot got knocked by the tap and she tripped over her other foot because of it(which would be a trip). Either way it's a tough call depending on the angle
Scrums are not for out of bounds, Jimmy, they’re for forward passes or knocking the ball forwards (there are other instances but that’s why that one happened) When it goes out of bounds it’s a lineout
@@amireallythatgrumpy6508because the French player (number 4) knocked on just before it went out. Fan D for fan of the week. Is there any way you could post what fan of the week won in like the beginning or end of things you missed? We never know who actually won...
The Bush's Beans ads on the cornhole jersey are the most perfect synergy between sports and advertising. 😂
I’m jus thinking bout those beans

Exact comment I was about to make.
I knew someone named Matt Guy but not that guy.
That is some beautiful footage.

Absolutely no question. You need fan of the year, and this guy needs to be in the running
Ya' wanna know who enjoyed it? "This guy, this guy sneaking some peeks" LoL 😂😂😂
That was hilarious
Also came here to comment that was the funniest part. Like when Letterman used to do "But what about this guy?"

yeah not too familiar with hockey but watching someone full swing a stick with one hand into the opponents feet doesn't seem like a fair play

Love seeing rugby 7s here! Both men's and women's is excellent to watch - the games are fast and furious.
Blatant trip creating a scoring chance. That should be called in game 7 of the Stanley Cup in the 70s.

I remember a similar thing happened in the round robin of the 2014 Olympics in Canada vs. USA, but Canada got their revenge by winning gold.
