what causes the leaves to go yellow?

Hello grandma pickles… I have a new orchid and I’m doing something wrong with her. She’s getting dry root legs and a yellow leaf. Can you help me out?

Sorry it took so long to reply. I moved into new place and just got internet up and running. If yellow leaf is one of the bottom leaves this is normal. Sometimes one of the bottom leaves will turn yellow and fall off. If it happens to more than one leaf then it may be getting too much direct sunlight. Most of my phalaenopsis orchid are in east facing window with sheer curtain to protect them from leaves burning. As far as roots drying try soaking them a little longer. If it is the Ariel roots (the ones growing upwards) you can always give them a good misting with a spray bottle every couple of days. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions.
