Watching this video again over a year and 20,000 views later!! This literally just popped up on my RUclips feed. Enormous thanks to everyone that grabbed a Dirty Tree because of this video and a big time thanks to Fluff. Almost hit 3000x units built and shipped which is CRAZY! This pedal is insane and honestly the pedal I have been waiting for. I am hoping to order mine tomorrow so I can show all of my friends what they are missing 🤘🏻
New Zealands greatest pedal maestro. I have one of his original Russian Doom Machines, and a bespoke buffered splitter he built for my wet-dry rig. Absolute legend
If you play extended range or baritone guitars. This pedal lets you cut through instantly. I love this pedal so much, I've bought three of them and haven't touched another overdrive since. Fluff is telling the truth
@Dizzy Duke No it’s not. Every Pepers’ Pedal that I’ve bought has shipped to me from New Zealand in about a week or so, and I’m in the U.S. Tony Pepers usually ships direct via DHL, I believe, so it doesn’t have to go through that log jam at the ports and then to a U.S. distributor. Shipping isn’t free, but I think you’ll be surprised at how fast you receive it.
@Dizzy Duke I've ordered plenty from Pepers and it only takes about a week for the pedal to travel from NZ to Ohio via California. It's something like 9200 miles.
That is one SICK pedal! It’s a clone of the tc electronic integrated preamp aka, the Meshuggah pedal. I have a feeling after this video, Peper’s Pedals cannot make them fast enough.
AGREED! The last vid you had that showed it got me to order one, right from the man himself. Then I found out its just him, engeneering and building them himself, after work while maintaining a life and a family! Fuck yes sir, best money Ill ever spend on a pedal.

I won this pedal in a giveaway directly sent by Tony himself. Incredible Boost. The latest epiphany in boost territory since a year or two when I find out about the MXR M77 custom badass modified OD. This is PERFECT for a XXX, where the M77 totally fails to clean up, and I can see it pushing it a rectifier perfectly. Also, the design seems to be a copycat of the Isosceles, which has the Fortin 33 and Grind mode switch away from the classic TC integrated, I can tell you TOTALLY different beast. Reminds me a bit of the green channel of the DAE duality instead, has a nice tubescreamy upper mid push while retaining a bit of the TC clank. Awesome pedal. For a 5150, I like a precision drive or the M77 more, but this winds hands down on more flubby, but yet modern metal Amps.
Bought mine a while ago, (limited edition paintjob (2 only)) peppers pedal is awsome, he has made and sold over a thousand now!! Ill be grabbing at least another very soon!!
If you love this pedal you should upgrade your all your MESAs speakers hook up wire with a setup from AMPTURCO GUITAR WERKS!! All PEPER Pedals sound awesome thru his rig. I reccomend a custom harness upgrade for your most favoritest guitar!! Your amps will sound even better after you upgrade all the cables and wire. been watching a number of TCE Integrated Preamp/Fortin Grind clone videos today, may be picking up a Blue Voodoo soon and i kinda want to hear how these will push it. Also makes me wish there were more modern reviews of the Blue voodoo heads
Last time I tried to get one I think they were sold out, thanks for the reminder to check again but I hope this video doesn't kill the stock before I can get to it!
Experimenting with goosing preamp and fuzz pedals ( and boosting AFTER) produces some pretty cool results, as well (Pushing a Pepers Green Matamp preamp into a fx return on an SS Orange with a Baritone sounded great and punchy, too)
I owned one and it was cool, especially in my '92 Rev F Dual Recto, but I ended up selling it because it really only does one sound. You can hear it in Fluff's video: it's that metallic filtered "wah stuck halfway" kind of sound. If you're looking for that sound, then this will be a great fit for you. If you're looking for something more versatile, I'd consider something else like a Plumes, Xotic BB, or Suhr Koko Boost.
Interested to know what do you mean with wah stuck halfway cause ive definitely heard it before but cant find anything about it and might be exactly what im looking for
@@oscarcastellon7398 I mean that the Dirty Tree has a "filtered" effect when you turn it on. Kind of like how a wah stuck halfway filters your sound (That is one of Slash's big tone secrets, btw). It cuts out almost all the lows and leaves you with a thinner but more cutting sound. You might like it! It just wasn't for me; didn't feel very versatile.
Fluff... Just ordered a Dirt Tree today... Also run a Fortin Hexdrive through the front of my 2-channel Rev-G's (95 DR, 2x 99 TR's), with a ZUUL through the Loop to quiet everything down, and there are definitely times I like the Fortin Hexdrive, where it seems to smooth the top-end out a bit, like you said. My settings for the Hexdrive are: Drive - 10 o'clock, Tone - Backed down all the way to the left, Level - Dimed all the way to the right. It just gives it that little extra to smooth out the tone and feel of the amp, without affecting the sound too much. I'm curious to know your thoughts on how the Hexdrive compares to the Dirty Tree, and would love to see a shootout video comparing them, if you have the time. I can't seem to find any videos on YT that are directly comparing them both on the same amp and guitar/signal chain at the same time. Also, one of my 99 Triple Recs needs some work done to it, is that guy that modded your Triple Rec still doing work? Do you still recommend him? Thanks for your time.
hey fluff, how's it going. just wondering what noise gate you use for your mesa dirty tree combo. I have a dual rec and just put a order in for my dirty tree, just wondering if you have a preference. thanks man
try out ThisHeavyEarth's pedals. THE makes amazing metal distortion and overdrive pedals. They just produced their first boost pedal called the "Pentademon". I personally own their "Chvrchbvrner" distortion/preamp pedal and it is insanely versatile, can make it sound like Jimmy Page or like Infernus of Gorgoroth, and it extremely responsive to boosts. They have the "Fleshrot" pedal to mimic the tone of Florida Death Metal. They even have an upgraded HM-2 clone called the "Crustifixion", and a high gain overdrive called "The Grim". Give them a look, the people in charge of THE are awesome, and respond to questions and feedback very frequently in a very positive way. They specifically want every guitarist that buys their pedals to enjoy them, and will listen to feedback to improve the pedals for the next batches.
Too bad they have such a long wait. I would love to have one. Thought about experimenting with stacking the Dirty Tree alongside a TS9 and seeing what happens. Luckily my Endless Blockade Gate is pretty stout when it comes to stopping the noise.
@@nickharper8145DUDE! Stack them! OD first set up normally and then into DT in TC mode which allows you go gain stage into your amp. Lower level, bass and treble to taste. SO GOOD!

Got one on my pedal shelf, along with some boutique stuff and generics like an OD808 and SD-1, and they all get used. It's a great pedal, just not the alpha and omega for me, though it's perfectly plausible that for someone else it might be just that.
@@ventproc yeah I own a Dirty tree, and like you own a bunch of boutique ODs and boosts. Personally I don't get it. The DT is a very limited pedal. I want range, I want versatility. I want something that can work on a whole range of amps not just one style or brand of amp. The dirty tree might work great for mesa rectifiers but that doesn't mean it works great on all amps, and if it does work well on an amp it still lacks features and versatility compared to alot of pedals out there in today's market.
