    Hey Victor it’s me Logan from the tour yesterday. I had a great time and enjoyed it. It’s kind of funny how you found the walking catfish earlier after I mentioned it. Nice catch. Also Carie said she thinks you should name the deformed tiger shovelnose “Sock Puppet”. I have got her and my uncle (Daniel) to watch you often so hearing it being called “Sock Puppet” will make her day.

      Hi Logan! :) Thank you and your uncle Dan and aunt Carie and their friends Bradley and Hailey for your visit and generous support of our humble effort. Yes, it was some coincidence - 5 min after you had left I stumbled upon a walking catfish crawling across the parking lot in the rain, that's the one I grabbed :) The deformed TSN has no nickname so "Sock Puppet" is funny, fitting, and accepted :)

    What's the legality of walking catfish in FL? Conditional?

    • @Fish-Story
      @Fish-Story  3 месяца назад +1

      Used to be Prohibited but when the State gave up, C. batrachus alone was taken out of the whole prohibited family and transferred to Conditional.

      It's a spawning season, so there are lots of brutal and festive activities :) There are Nile and Blue tilapia, Zebra Tilapia, Mayan cichlid, Vieja hybrids, 1 midas, 1 dovii, 1 jag, 2 jd, purple labeo (the alpha), Asian RTC, perhaps forgetting couple others. As you know we don't feed live. All these are for sale / adoption.

    Hi Victor 🖐🏻, how are you?
    Can you remember months ago, I tould you that I keep Oscars wirh Angelfishes without any Problems?
    Now I have at least a small simple Video on my Chanel to show you.
    At Beginning the Oscars didn't care about the Angelfishes, even when the Oscars leg breading eggs.
    I suppose, that this is so, caused this flat formed Apperiance. They look so different, that the Oscars don't really notice that the ,,Angels" are fishes too.

    • @Fish-Story
      @Fish-Story  3 месяца назад +1

      Hi Dangvil! Glad to hear from you. We are adequate. I hope you too. Yes, I remember this conversation. Watched your video too. Nice. Some other peers said they failed to keep oscars with angels but as we know there are a lot of variables and hence it is not uncommon to meet different outcomes. Our angels in the Cichlid growout 2.0 tank have been chewed up by someone, probably not the oscar, so they had to leave the tank anyway to a safer tank.

    Vic, would you say scaleless fish are more susceptible to infection, such as walking catfish, clown loache and the like, I always worry for them when adding treatments ???

    • @Fish-Story
      @Fish-Story  3 месяца назад

      IME catfish on average are no different from scaled fish when it comes to withstanding meds. I almost never make any med dose corrections for catfish, except for rare exceptions, e.g. gulper catfish... and there are more sensitive fish in every class of fish - it pays to know who they are and what the complicating factors are before a treatment.

    Hey Victor, I have some questions and things that I forgot to ask last Sunday, as well as things that go along with a few of other viewers comments:
    1. What was that big tank it looked like you were building near the back? Was that the 10k I saw you mention in the past?
    2. I don’t it’s hard and can’t really do it, but if you can somehow ship fish or get someone to help deliver them to me here in Ohio, I’d be more than happy to buy/adopt some fish to make a little more room. Like some of the Jerks or other fish. If you can’t ship or find any helpers then no worries.

    • @Fish-Story
      @Fish-Story  3 месяца назад

      Yes, that was the unfinished 10K. The shipping fee and my inexperience with shipping prohibit me from offering shipping to prospective adopters. It's always been pickup only. I do appreciate your consideration though, thank you!

      Thank you. You had named several fish in your prior recent comments which we did have, e.g., golden dorado and dovii. Are you new to the channel or watch just occasionally? Yes, new fish are always exciting, it's addictive, but if you are a regular viewer, you know that our problem right now is too many fish, which are not easy to combine with others, and too few tanks. We welcome any help in acquiring new tanks ;) Yes, a tank with FL fish has been in the plans for many years and this year we finally got a collector's license but there is no good tank to dedicate to it. I thought maybe the 10K but it looks I will need it for the fish we already have here.

    Yay, the walking catfish will be back!😃
    Thinking back to what happened with the original walking catfish and Kuma in June 2018, I hope this one doesn't end up becoming a snack for Fun-Size Kuma.
    I will never stop thinking about the walking catfish columnaris outbreak from 2018 when I watch this fish's videos going forward, though. That was brutal - good that you are taking some more measures against disease potential here.

    • @Fish-Story
      @Fish-Story  3 месяца назад +2

      We got 11 catfish back then in 2018 and Kuma ate probably 4-5 before I had enough and transferred it to the jumbo 4500. Right now it's too small/slender even for the 1800. ... Yes, losing 25% of fish was hurtful enough to remember.

    • @KuhliLoachTrainer
      @KuhliLoachTrainer 3 месяца назад +1

      One of the walking catfish that survived Kuma stayed head first inside the mouth overnight didn't it? It really speaks to the toughness of walking catfish in my opinion, that one according to the walking catfish thread was only slightly banged up and didn't need to be taken out while Kuma's equivalent event ended up with it getting its hindquarters skinned and nearly being killed!
      That thread also said the walking catfish that did survive until the September 2019 inspectors found them reached and even slightly exceeded 2 feet while getting quite thick as well. If this one gets to that size at one point or another, I think you would be greenlit to put it in the Fun-Size Kuma 4500/17K liter, considering a catfish like Tiggy the surubi is fine in there and he is only 20 inches while probably not as thick as an adult walking catfish.
      In fact, I think I actually quite like the idea of a Clarias/Brachyplatystoma combo! When this one clears quarantine, may I suggest growing it up with the zebra shovelnoses prior to its transfer to the 1800/7K liter with Dora and then hopefully the Fun-Size Kuma+piramutaba 4500/17K liter if big enough? That way there can be at least 2 and up to 4 of such intriguing combos:)
      Last but not least, in your opinion would now be a good time to pick a name? I'm thinking a reference to the classic joke about the chicken crossing the road - with appropriate modifications made for a walking catfish crossing a parking lot - might be appropriate.🤪

      2) I’d not think so. Clarias is far slenderer vs Pseudoplatystoma.
      Always appreciate to learn. I'll take your word for it, you're the one who can see the fish in person.
      If you don't think it can go in there, I assume it would stay as an adult in the 1800/7K liter out of current tanks?

      I thought they were only aggressive when they were larger, but again appreciate the chance to learn. That combination was suggested under the assumption of not-yet-aggressive smaller walking catfish being safe, I agree with you on prioritizing fish safety.
      4) You could have a crack at it but the fish needs to start feeding and thriving first :)
      It won't be long now, I'm sure:)

      @@KuhliLoachTrainer There seems to be little to no value in guessing where the walking cat(s) will be housed. First they need to survive and grow up. Second, you know how fluid our stock situation can be in any tank, fish can die, be moved, tanks get broken down and reconfigured, tankmate interactions can change for worse or for better, new tanks are being built, etc. All of these things are rather trivial, I mean of little educational and otherwise value but to a hoarder / collector who has too few tanks and too many fish like me. Now on the flip side, when I and those like me do have problems with cohabing fish, then such considerations would be timely and helpful, because they are concrete, not vague or distanced in the future.
