Vinegar is my favorite multi purpose item. I use it for cooking, cleaning just about everything from soap scum to my floors. I use it as a natural fabric softener in the laundry. Use it as Deodorizer for drains or in a spray bottle for fabric or air. Once it dries the vinegar smell is gone. You can soak lemon or orange peel it in for a couple weeks to make a cleaner that smells better if the vinegar smell bothers you. It kills weeds in the garden which is safe for kids and pets. It can be used as a soil amendment for acid loving plants like blueberries. Mix it with 1/2 water and a squirt of dish soap for a shower glass spray after each shower to keep it clean and clear. The list goes on and on!

Vinegar is my fave! I use a very diluted vinegar wash solution mixed up in an old sriracha bottle on my hair when showering.. I live in London so the water is extremely hard and terrible on my hair, but the vinegar counter acts that. I forget the science right now but it’s legit and I’ve used it for a few years. My hair is very happy!

My scarf. I got one of those that is big enough to use as a skirt or top if I tie it. I can also cover my head if I am going to a temple during a trip or visiting my friends. Is light enough for cover from the Caribbean sun when visiting my parents, but warm enough to use during the Wisconsin winter. Is my most versatile item of... Anything. I have had it for little over 15 years which also makes it my longest owned and oldest piece of clothing.

another useful item for me is mug. i used to buy a lot of mugs and since i became minimalist i don’t need that much mugs so i tried to use them not only for drinking tea, but for something else.
i keep my pens and markers in mugs, i use my favorite mug as candlestick, and i use big mugs as soup bowls. also i grow small plant in mug

I use coconut oil as a lip moisturizer, as I pick the skin on my lips when I'm anxious or bored, and they get sore and swollen. I first apply a bit of "cocoa butter" scented Vaseline and then smooth it out with the coconut oil. This lasts for hours and helps to heal the picked skin as well as act as a deterrent when I absent-mindedly reach to pick my lips again.

I use my bar of soap instead of shaving cream too. If you like a dense creamy lather you can use an old fashioned shaving brush on the soap, but since I divorced and no longer have my exes brush to use I just make whatever lather I get from the soap and that works too.
Also, not exactly multi purpose, but I don't own/use a garlic press. I just use a cheese grater (the side with the smallest holes) if I want the garlic really fine, or chop with a regular kitchen knife if I want larger bits (washing these are also undeniebly easier than the garlic press! 😅).

You’re so right about the coconut oil. I’ve used it for so many things. Recently when I had to make multiple trips in & out of my apartment and it was late, I used it to stop my squeaky doors, which worked beautifully. I think my favorites that I use religiously is for makeup remover and I always keep a small jar around for my cats. Its really good for their coats, and it keeps them busy for a bit. When they get bored, or if they want treats and I’m out, they will start driving me crazy by following me around, so I just go tap on the glass to remind them it’s there, and they come running and dig at the hardened oil in the bottom of the glass. It’s been a real lifesaver!
Oh, and most of all is shaving!! You can use it for a dry shave too, but either way, it really is such an affordable way to get a close shave! Just make sure to let the hot water run for a min afterwards so that it fully goes down the drain.

I have a very similar couch. Mine just has the chastise on the left instead of the right like yours! It's by far my favorite purchase in our apartment. It has certainly come in handy if we have someone stay overnight with us. Everyone is always so amazed when we show them how we have a hidden pullout ottoman!

Thank you so much!!!! The video was so beautiful and useful!!!! I’d love to share that I use my bar of soap also as my eye glasses cleaner!!! It gets them as shiny and clear to see through as the harsh smelling spray my optometrist assistant uses at the store! It’s just a handmade coconut soap bar and I love it for this so much! It also shines my bathroom mirrors beautifully and in two seconds, it’s so quick! Thank you again so much, I didn’t know that about the coffee press, I love tea and now I want one♥️😀

Most shampoos are formulated with a pH that is suitable for hair. Adding baking soda would greatly increase the pH. Once in a while it should be fine but if you use it regularly , overtime this could cause brittle hair & breakage

I love your videos so much, they calm me and inspire me! Some words of caution:
    1. Bar soaps, although soap, can support bacterial life on them in contrast with liquid ones.
    2. Ceramic pots should come with a free lead and arsenic certificate. Many ceramic dishware have been responsible for poisoning, either acute or long-term.

Great video! I love that you use your French press in so many ways! I use colored pencils as highlighters! I color code my Bible by underlining the text in the appropriate color! For example, God's Commands are in sky blue, and when He speaks its Royal/ Navy blue; prophetic word are lavender, inspirational words are pink, Sabbaths are yellow, Feasts are green... the options are almost endless ;and they don't bleed through; and you can erase mistakes! And sometimes I triple highlight! 3 colors under 1 text! No more plastic pens!

I didn’t realize I had so much in common with your list. 😅😅 (Smart phone, glass jars, double Dutch oven/pot, baking soda, lint remover, French press, coconut oil, bar soap...lol). I guess I’m on the right track after all. Lol. Great tip on baking soda for the hair. Lol. I did not know that even tho I also use it for several things besides that. Next for me might just be that sofa. Lol.
My go to thing is prob more pet specific but I love Fizzion tabs. It’s an enzymatic gentle C02 based cleaner designed to break down and eliminate cat urine problems. But I use it also for light spot cleaning of many things (it has a nice, light scent) and for mopping. It’s great for anything to do with any sort of “bodily excrement” type of stuff. Lol. Plus it’s smooth, non sticky and no rinse is needed. Also great for cleaning our rabbit area and cage, as the rabbit can’t be around a lot of strong chemicals. I also use peroxide for laundry stain removal which also is enzymatic and great for things like animal poop or blood and also urine as well. I also like bleach for many things as well, such as toilet bowl cleaner for one and a bit in the dish water to sanitize (also Bcuz of things like my dishes vs cat dishes and I can’t use the toilet tabs as I never know when a cat might drink from the toilet lol). Also fresh bleach dish water is great for sanitizing all the kitchen counters quickly. And for me classic blue Dawn dish soap is also useful. Doubles for “pet shampoo” from time to time and various things like dirty shoe “accidents” or any type of degreasing issues. Lol.

I don't have a ceramic pot but I do have cast iron skillets. I use them at home, but I also take them camping to cook over the campfire with. You can cook and bake in them. They make wonderful pies, cakes, and breads, but also deep dish pizzas. I have been able to donate a bunch of bakeware because of them. They also don't wear out like normal pans and skillets. I have one cast iron dutch oven, and it has now been used for 4 generations. We use it a ton and I will be passing it down with my skillets when the time comes.

Recently I was sick and I mixed a few drops of eucalyptus oil into some coconut oil and put on my neck and chest to help me breathe. I also have mixed with tea tree oil to put on my feet. I'm sure there are more uses as well.

    • @hippohop6539
      @hippohop6539 3 года назад +1

@@notavailable5911 I don't know if I understood you correctly, so I will just share what I discovered.
There are 4 types of lubricants:
      - oil based
      - silicone based
      - water based
      - hybrid.
Oil-based lubs are not really latex condom-safe. But are great for toys and very long lasting. And if don't use latex condoms, there's nothing bad about it.
Silicone based lubs are also very long lasting and safe for latex condoms, but can destroy the silicone outer layer of toys.
Water based lubs aren't very long lasting, but safe for latex and non-latex condoms and safe for toys. It's also wont stain your sheets 😉
But honestly, I am not an expert, so better do your own research and ask professionals. I am very passionate about low waste living and sustainability, but sometimes the most zero waste options are not the greatest ones from the rational point of view. I guess having an infection or an accident unwanted baby is not the price for being sustainable in my eyes.

Unfortunately after 4 years of hard use I'm going to have to look into replacing them, the motor doesn't click into place any more and it seems like it struggles to keep up sometimes.

For those with puppies I LOVE kong toys. You can fill them with food and a little yoghurt and use them as a food puzzle that keeps their minds active and feeds them SLOWLY which is a God send for an active puppy. Plus they are my dogs favourite balls for playing fetch. I have 3 kongs lined up in the freezer full of food ready for use at a moments notice. A more universal idea comes courtesy of my grandmother. She always had matches in the bathroom to strike and blow out instead of using air freshener. This works a treat but I'm always careful to wet matches before discarding to prevent a fire. I also use matches to disinfect needles or little scissors if I'm taking care of splinters or wounds. The other trick is using boiled and cooled water, adding salt and using that to wash down wounds instead if disinfectant.

    Clothing.
Wear it as it was designed. When it doesn't fit or goes out of style, re-make it into another garment. When that's not useful to you, cut it down to make baby or children's clothes. When those don't fit, either tear the fabric into cleaning cloths or into strips or pieces to quilt. Another option is to cut them into fine strips and weave those into a new fabric to make items out of. Then, when any and all of that is done, take fabric apart down to threads to make thread art. All this could take decades...or, in some cases, a generation or two...or maybe even three...
