Is there a way to import your own textures? Sometimes the textures available just isn't what I want, is there a way to make a custom one? (I'm not talking about the block editor where you can mash different tile textures together)
How do you name new maps you make in game? Trying to make a rom hack that adds a few new areas for encounters for Nuzlockeing but I can't figure out how to name the new maps so they would count as new encounters.
Hey, I've just downloaded this version and none of the icons below Goto are loading. Actually, I never knew there were supposed to be icons there, I just used the text thing in other versions. Did I install something wrong?
> this version Can you be more specific? The tutorial was made for version 0.5, the latest Public version is 0.5.4, and the latest beta is 0.5.4.2. If the shortcut buttons aren't showing up, it's possible that the data needed couldn't be found in your rom hack. Remember that HMA tries to find all the data in your rom, but the more changes you've made using other programs, the more stuff will be moved, making it harder for HMA to find your data automatically. You'll want to look into editing your toml file to tell HMA where your data is. See github.com/haven1433/HexManiacAdvance/wiki/TOML-and-You:-How-Metadata-works
You are completely right, just tried an untouched rom and it works, I must have lost the original toml file at some point. I mean, I started editing the rom in 2011, so when I switched to HMA I probably never paid any attention to the toml file at all. Now i'm trying to edit the new one, but I don't know what do I have to do in order to fix it, specifically. Goddamn I'm really bad at this stuff. (this version I mean 0.5.4)
@@antonco2 I already shared a link to the tutorial about metadata, not really anything else I can do to help in a RUclips comment. If you're having trouble, consider joining the discord server (link in the help menu) so people there can provide discussion and assistance.
Hi, I have a GBA game that has a day and night system. Depending on the time of day, different Pokemon appear. In HMA, when editing the appearing Pokemon, I only see the setting for Day, where can I change it for Night?
HMA only knows about things in the vanilla game. If you know where the data is, you can add in the table so that HMA can edit it... but there's no way HMA can support every change in every romhack from every developer.
how would you have tested out ONLY this section? like if i edited mt. moon and didn't want to start a new game, how could i see if it worked immediately? are save states an option? thank you for your hard work
Save states are iffy, sometimes they'll work and sometimes not, it depends on your changes. The safest thing to do is to make a "test house" in the first town, with NOCs that give you items for debugging (like rare candies / nuggets) and warps to various spots you want quick access to. Then you can delete the test house when you're ready to share your game.
@@havenfractal Can you please mention how to make new templates for trainers in HexManiac Advance for Pokemon FireRed? Suppose I want to add the templates of Johto elite fours.
@@KatharupJana-g3t trainer templates just let you add trainers with default teams. Once you drop down the template, you can customize the team (and trainer sprite) to be whatever you like
@@havenfractal I also want to change the dialogue of champion rival and of prof Oak after beating rival in Pokemon FireRed. Unfortunately I can't edit it and it shows that there is no script in that map.

Check out github.com/haven1433/HexManiacAdvance/wiki/Tutorials (or Help -> Tutorials in the program) for some tutorials. Some are video, some are text. There's a tutorial there about trainer editing :)
something ive been trying to figure out how to do is change the map name of a specific map. I want to be able to make custom maps and caves to the rom but have no clue how to do that
There's a table of map names in the game. You can use the goto menu to find it (try filtering for "map names") and edit any of the names, but adding new map names can cause problems. Then you can use the drop-down in the map editor (tool bar, right side) to select which name you want for your custom map.
Love this tutorial! Do you mind making a tutorial showing how to make and edit scripts using this program? I'd like to add a NPC that gives a pokemon to me.
The guy in the new map should have said,
"Technology is incredible! You can now
edit maps with Hex Maniac Advance!"
Glad you're making tutorials again! This might get me back into romhacking
Wow, never realised how advanced rom hacking tools have got. Been using RPG maker for a while but this makes me want to try rom hacking again.
This has been extremely helpful, much appreciated.
it's amazing :3

@VersekrDarkPokemonEternal lastima que hoy en dia aun tiene sus bugs :c
Great
Ok but, result in game? It's work? :D
btw GOD Job
Can we edit tiles with it?
so... ive edited some things but now my maps all have some weird tiles in the black background thingy
Is there a way to add map parts that are not connected? Similar to how Hex Maniac stores information about gym and store maps

how i can put new tiles? i hope thats easier then 5 years ago xD
