      @@slickdanger_ I really wanted the hovercraft but I wanted a split this year and the Hovercraft 2.0 is coming for the 2024 season. I ended going with the Stratos split to diversify my quiver because I have a flagship and the solution is basically the same board. The split is so awesome plenty of fun and not bad for climbing.
      Loving the Chargers because I use them for my split (ditto) but I also use them on my flagship because they come with a solid board mount.
      Overall wicked setup and you can't go wrong with a Jones split.

    Great review folks and I also like your review of the Korua Transition finder split. I am torn between the two of them the premium look and feel, and the weight of the Capita Mega Split against the tapered directional shape of the Transition Finder and the mounting points in the nose and tail which must make it easier. which would be your recommendation if you had to make a choice please?

    Really impressed with the channel fellas! In one of your videos you make a comment on mounting Union split bindings on a Burton channel split. I can’t find any info online about doing this. I can easily perform any required mods myself. I just don’t want to buy the bindings if it requires any mod that alters the integrity of the setup. Could you please elaborate on the mod to give me a brief overview of what’s required? I really want to go Union vs the Hitchhikers.

    Starting to backcountry ride after years of snowboarding and I bought these do you think normal snowboard boots can do well? Or do you suggest any type that specifically can be bought? Thanks

    • @markfawcett8142
      @markfawcett8142 Год назад

      Any snowboard boots will work. However, a few companies like Burton and 32 make boots with details that make them "split-touring" labeled boots. Namely the boot shel has less forward lean in them , allowing for a more comfortable and further forward stride. See burton "tourist" and the "Jones" boot line with 32.

    • @FourT6and22

      I wouldn't use them on a solid board. Mounting surface is higher off the top of the board, so you are elevated more compared to a regular binding.

  • @rockyj5047
    @rockyj5047 Год назад +3

    It's obvious the pin was a bad idea or they wouldn't of changed it. Your board halves would literally move back and forth thanks to the "twist" design. They sucked for touring, made the board feel loose downhill and I think it's unfortunate they kept selling them despite all the complaints. I don't know if the new revision is any better but I do know Spark R&D has a solid system they've hardly been able to improve since the first revision. I've used all the brands pre 2021 and hands down Spark is the best affordable binding, Phantom is the best premium...you will find almost zero debate in the community as some like Karakorum.
    That being said that Capita Mega Split is dope 😂 😂

    • @amory716
      @amory716 Год назад

      I had the pin system but it did not jive with my swallowtail Prior split so I went with the Burton Hitchhiker (spark plate). All brands have issues, and for my Spark plates, the pin for the toe lock released and in turn pushed the bushing out of the toe strap. Luckily I was able to find the bushing, hammer the pin back into place, and get back to the car!
      I am going to try the Chargers now that I have a directional twin! Reviews are mixed but I am going to roll the dice!

    • @cheut

      @@markmorrison7342 that comparison makes absolutely no sense. a more accurate comparison would be a new corvette or a ferrari - the corvette has 90% of the power and features of a 488 or whatever replaced that, but for half the price. corvetttes sell like crazy, ferrari's dont. id also be way less concerned with crashing a corvette than a ferrari... so id rather own a corvette

    • @TurboMeatsVideos
      @TurboMeatsVideos Год назад +1

      @@mattmitchell794 This setup could be very sick and very solid - but you should always be wary of the 1st iteration of new products. Union's split bindings so far have been absolute garbage. This looks like Capitas first split and essentially anyone who buys this 1st iteration is doing product testing. Also, from my experience, Capita's boards don't hold up very well over time. I don't think this is a good entry level setup because of these unknowns but also the price - $1,499.95 carbon deck with $500 bindings - $2000 doesn't sound very entry level to me. I'd recommend a company with a history of splits (Voile, Salomon, Nitro, Cardiff, etc) and Spark Arcs for bindings. I personally ride a Niche Fathom split (only $600 new! and zero-waste company) with Spark Arcs. It shreds hard and rides like a $1200 deck.
