I agree I can’t bring myself to eat meat, ever since I lived next to a farm and saw the animals make friends. I’m way too soft. I think all animals raised for food should be treated with respect and these animals are treated amazing. Plus this food is so much better for your health!

I’m a retired RN going through chemo and somehow your videos started showing up on my feed and I must say I’m glad. I am enjoying your videos and I give you a lot of credit for how caring you are.
I have been watching every video since several months ago one of Cody's videos showed up unexpectedly on my phone when I really needed more joy in my life. I was never a RUclips person before that. I think the Universe sent Cody to me. I figured out how to join and get notifications so I did not miss anything . Cody is A LOT cheaper than therapy.😊😊. I had a chick that wasn’t feeling good when we got her. We gave her sugar water and then she was doing a lot better. And she’s the top chicken now she’s 6 years old.

The lil turkeys are all so beautiful & unique. Dabbles is getting so big & protective. Good, him & mumbles will be the guard goose couple 💕 can’t wait to see them together. Missed all the momma hens, you got alot going on keeping you busy.
The black ones are Norfolk Black Turkey, also called Black Spanish Turkey. It's actually a heritage breed. They are one of the best heritage breeds for meat, but since they are a heitage breed, they can also be kept for years and have a normal life. You could replace Pam and Piper with a pair from those.
They would be neat, but I think they're Broad breasted black turkey
I'm from Europe and here we have them only as heritage breed. You could be right though and the hatcheries in the US developed a meat version of this breed. I hope they are the heritage breed because it's known to be one of the most docile turkey breeds. You would not have to deal with crazy aggressive turkeys anymore : )))

Have you thought of befriending Dabbles by picking just him up & carry him to the beach, then carefully place him in a couple of inches of the pond water? If you can get him to like it then he will lead his ducks in.

Man, it's almost too bad these turkeys will be meat turkeys considering how pretty they are! Oh well..trying to not get attached to them like I did with Jim and Pam lol.
My dad raised slate turkeys before and some ring neck pheasants ❤
The slates are just that too, a gorgeous range in coloration of this slate Grey and some white ! They were so pretty!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Those black turkeys are wild looking! How did you train Echo pup not to chase any of the birds when you first started out? When I got my first flock of chickens my dog saw them a lot when they were in the brooder but first time he got the chance he chased them and ended up injuring one and it had to be put down a few days later. I was hoping to free range them inside the portable electric fence with my goats but they walked through the fence. Anyway, I would love to be able to free range. It's so cool how echo watches for aerial predators!
Lots of exposure under supervision. Id have him lay next to them and stay so he could get used to them, I made sure he was able to smell them and satisfy his curiosity safely. He's never hurt my birds, it helps he's very smart and understands his animals vs wild animals.

Please share who you order your babies from. We have talked about getting some baby turkeys. But my concern is we have a lot of wild turkeys around us. They come right into our yard. Have does leave theirs babies just a few feet in the edge of my backyard also. We had 4 of our ducks i raised from peeps, leave with a flock of wild ducks headed out. We are very rural and on this farm we have always had a lot of wildlife coming close. This spring my son and I were in the lower end of the farm. Not 200 yards from his house. One very young baby deer walked right out of the edge of the woods. Where it's mother left it. Walked right up to my son, he just squatted down and the fawn just layed against his leg. We both petted it and gave it a quick check over for injuries and if it had been fed by its mom. She was a very gentle and healthy fawn. After about 30 minutes it went right back in the edge of the woods where it was. This has happened for years. Im just concern about bring baby turkeys in and the possibility they would leave with the wild turkeys. And yes, we live in area we do hunt. But we don't take female of deers,turkeys, rabbits etc. And the herd of deers that circle though our farm about every 3 days and we know them by fur marks and different shades of colors.
That sounds lovely. I haven't had any sign of my turkey wanting to interact with the wild turkey but I do keep mine fenced in.

I had no idea that baby turkeys are so small. We have a lot of wild turkeys where I live and when we see the babies they are much bigger than these. I wonder if the mama turkeys leave them close to home until they are a lot bigger than these.

They're a hybrid breed and aren't good to keep as breeders

No these are a hybrid breed that isn't good to continue to breed, their genetics aren't stable

I couldn’t be a homesteader. I can’t see eating animals that I raised and named. I wouldn’t survive at it.

Black Spanish Turkeys (also referred to as Norfolk Turkeys) are solid black with a beautiful greenish luster and no barring. This rare Heritage breed turkey originated in Europe and listed as threatened by the Livestock Conservancy. Babies are black with a white face.
