I think, as a Turk, I have more right than anybody else to express my appreciation for this great performance. Thank you Avi and thank you Itamar, for giving me goosebumps.
Brilliant mandolin play. I started to learn this instrument just recently, switched from guitar, so I can't stop being amazed by his flawless technique.
I'm a long time guitar player and have just taken up mandolin. Trying to listen to as broad a range of mandolin music as possible. Love it. Turkey is home to some amazing music.
Led Zepplin: here's their original inspiration. Turkish music is wrought from many cultures, the crossroads of the ancient world. It's unmistakable, thrilling, and technically genius.
This song is in 9/16 (2+2+2+3), right? Did anyone else notice how he starts with a 7/16 bar, continues in 9/16 and ends the solo with a 11/16 bar just to add up the missing 2? I like that very much! :D
Oh I see! I was imagining it as 2+2+2+3 and couldn't figure the first few bars...thought he did a little trick ;) 2+2+3+2 makes a lot more sense, thanks!
@@zigaa994 yeah, the first few bars were confusing but once everyone else started playing, it became more obvious. I think it's where he played the accents that threw me off at first.
This is not a magic of mandolin, but of melody, of time and improvisation. All of these musicians are fantastic.

Whoever figures out the Bulgarian time signature of this song....please enlighten those of us from anywhere west of Greece.
the grouping pattern of 2 2 3 2 sums to 9/8. It sometimes sounds to me more like 7/8 + 11/8, but that’s just me

Thank you, I was just about to comment "What time signature is this in?" I was counting at 9/8 but it was not easy
Thanks Ziga and Noam, I usually recognize a 9 cycle but wasn't able to catch this one!
I think it is karşilamas 2+2+3+2 (counting 1 2 3 & 4)

NACİYE NACİYE CİLVELİ NACİYE. türk halk ezgisidir.
This has nothing to do with Turkish music, which has a quarter of a tones. This sounds more like an equal Bulgarian dance.
maybe so, but it IS a Turkish composition
