This is absolutely beautiful. Two grandmasters of drumming from different parts of the world, each thoroughly trained in thier own separate ethnic music and tradition, each a dedicated, accomplished musician bringing their culture to the world stage.
And uniting through rhythm and joy; the universal languages.
They make it seem so easy and fun to do this with music. If every art of the world could do this, we would have a joyful world of peace and sharing.

When I went to Bali I wanted to experience Bali, but you have to run very far away from Kuta to get away from the fucking Italian restaurants and western style bars :/ I got there in the end, but damn I wish I could have travelled the world 50 years ago when you had a real purpose to see something different. Dance is a kind of language, in a dialect unique to every person who speaks it. Music like this reminds us that we occupy these bodies, and our movement is as powerful a form of communication as words could be. And it's not something we think either; when you hear this music and let it move you, you don't have to think. It just IS. And I am HERE it.

He is also a very skilled teacher with a big smile. Thank you for sharing this performance.

It would be a mistake of monumental proportions to assume a talented drummer would make a good head of state by virtue of their musical ability. It is a common fallacy to believe that a celebrity is a likeable or good person because we like their work, which leads to some pretty unfortunate problems nowadays. People will listen to, and give more heed to a celebrity giving their opinion on a subject, than to what the science and experts in the field have to say. I'm not saying an artist can't be a good leader, but no artist who hasn't taken the time to cultivate leadership skills as well as art, will develop those skills through art. Artists aren't enlightened, they are people just like you who have become good at art.

I've wondered for years why I've never seen djembefola and taiko together. I was thinking something orchestra-sized (and still want to see/feel that), but I'm glad I'm not the only one that had this seemingly obvious thought. Thanks for the upload.
Sir Mamady Keita's hands on those switches from lyrical to rhythm ARE THEE TRUTH.

These Masters are indeed united and Gathered Together in Peace. And why is each of us watching them? Because this is what each one of watching needs to hear at this moment. In 2020 I hope that for a few minutes your mind was drawn from COVID19 to something more beautiful.
Gave me chills. Yes, I loved it.
