I revived ALEXANDER'S EMPIRE in 58 AD!

  • Remember my EU4 Athens campaign? In that one, I went West to East, this time we go East to West to try to form and revive Alexander's Empire in EU4! There's only one tiny province with the culture we need, so we're starting this EU4 challenge out with a bang as a vassal of a satrap. This is the extended timeline mod, one of the best EU4 mods out there, I'd highly recommend it!
    This is how I revived ALEXANDER'S EMPIRE in 48 AD in EU4!

    Playing Rome at its height in euiv extended timeline is like starting as ming if there was no such thing as low mandate. I think reforming Rome in vanilla or forming Rome in imperium universalis is cooler.
    Rome in a game covering its full period should have an event for the fall of the monarchy, the contest of the orders which would be pretty basic. You click an option to reform into a republic for the former, and then the latter would be kind of like court and country, or possibly an hre event.
    It’s possible that Rome should even have hre style mechanics to represent the de facto degrees of autonomy/sedition practiced by equestrians and governors of the principate. It could be a unity/fragmentation mechanic where Rome uncontrollably forms vassals that are disloyal and then Reintegrates them. Then in the third century a disaster happens and pretenders stacks are always trying to depose the emperor, and the country breaks into separate countries you can reconquest with cores. Events also would occur where the emperor gets assassinated by praetorians. Finally the principate would need some kind of ancient adoptive dynastic element, not as deep as ckiii, but events lead to the emperor choosing an heir. Uniting and stabilizing Rome from within would be satisfying, and then winning against Persia and the barbarians would be a good althist mission tree.

    • @LegateLynx
      @LegateLynx 2 года назад +1

      @@derekskelton4187 Yeah republican Rome is arguably a combination of colonizing with oppida, something analogous to native federations/diplomatic vassalization, and conquest of foreign tribes. Otoh archaic Greek poleis involved more colonizing by sea. The principate period has two incidents of dynastic succession that were resolved quickly and then a fifty year anarchy. Roman legions we’re stretched thin to fight each other, the sassanids, Carpi, Iuthingi, Quadi, Sarmatians, etc. Rome’s history specifically is intricate enough to deserve a paradox grand strategy. I know there’s imperator and mods but they don’t reflect Rome’s circumstances closely.
      The best time period would be 0 to 1500 auc.
      That’s all of western Rome’s history, Byzantine-Rashidun wars, and just long enough for Charlemagne to meme a personal union on Irene of Athens.

    The pretender tooltip tries to be true.
    It is correct on the day it spawns, but typically the pretender leads an army. If he dies as a general he will not take the throne, but his name will stay on the tooltip.
    You can kill all the pretender armies that aren’t led by the leader safely. If he dies the ruler is just rerolled.
