- The Queen has opened a new session of the UK parliament for the second time in the space of two months. But this time there was less pageantry and far more politics following the Conservative victory in last week's election. Some 30 bills were announced in the speech advertised as an 'ambitious programme of domestic reform' as well as delivering Brexit.
Top of the list was the commitment to take the UK out of the EU by the end of January.
There'll be increases in the NHS budget in England -- and those will be enshrined in law.
There was confirmation of Conservative campaign pledge to impose longer sentences for violent offenders but also a major review of the criminal Justice system.

However, if you look up the early warning signs of facism this is absolutely textbook stuff.
Obsession with nationalism, obsession with crime and punishment, obsession with national security, corruption, and starting a reduction in workers rights to name a few and in the words of the PM, "you ain't seen nothing yet".
Have a look at the reform of official secrecy coming up too which will affect reporting on matters of national security. This takes us further away from having a free press, limiting criticism of the government in this regard.

The SNP rarely got a majority, with the vote fairly evenly split between large labour, lib dem and conservative. It seems unlikely that a majority of Scotland wants independence but the labour and libdem vote could also include secessionists due to the remain position (or including remain with labour)

The reason I think full control is better is because moving is better than staying still generally, and the Tory’s have already issued their promises to help the working class again and again, now these could also be lies, but the fact that they won such a majority and are addressing it as a priority over Brexit leaves us a better chance than if it was a throw away proposition like previous cabinets, since they know they won many labour seats and if they don’t want to crash harder than labour in the next 10 years, they must live up to it or face political suicide.
