Hell yeah man. I have another video with 6 in a ported box a little bit smaller than that. They definitely slap. I drove behind it once to see what it sounded like and you could feel the seats move a little bit when I was behind it at the lights
I guess each sub has different characteristics, but this setup scored 142db while having excellent 'punch' on the kicks and great cone control. Ported definitely had a much lower playing capability and was probably a bit louder, but for the space savings of the ported box, it was no real sacrifice in any sound Also depends on what kind of music you prefer
Sealed boxes play lower, ported boxes play louder but at a limited range that's why they sound "boomy" like it's just playing one bass note. Sealed takes up less space but nowhere near as loud as ported. Tune the ported box right and it's a no brainier go with ported. This setup is 4 subs in a sealed box. You can get similar output putting just one of these in a ported box about the same size as this sealed box.
Improperly built ported enclosures can sound boomy. I've built my fair share of them. The best sounding enclosure I've built was a ported one for a Fi Q 12. But yes, generally sealed will sound better. Also I've heard 2 of the subs in these vids score a 143 in a ported box, but that was on triple the power these subs were on and it was more of a one note wonder. So similar output with 1 of these budget subs in ported is a bit of a stretch when there's no way 1 of these would move anywhere near as much air without jumping half a foot out of the gap. Cone area is king 🤴
@@nicke1370 sealed boxes aren't as efficient as ported. You can't push the air that's inside the sealed box to make sound as you can ported. That 1200 watts you're pushing will be louder in a ported box. I don't know the power handling of these subs but you need twice the power in a sealed box to achieve the same SPL as in a ported box with all other things equal (enclosure size, sub, amp etc). Maybe one sub in this box ported is a stretch but it's not too far off.
Not for this one. These subs sounded great in a sealed box as well as a ported one, but a ported enclosure built correctly would be too big for 4 of these subs without taking the back seat out
im running six of the 12s in a ported box around 8cu they are loud...ppl sleep on pioneer but they make very great products.

Love Pioneer products 👌🏾
Need to see more😍
Hello! what do you think about sealed box vs ported?
sealed box great loud bass and quality?

Long story short ported boxes allow you to create greater output with less power. There's a reason people don't run sealed boxes for SPL competitions.
Pioneer lovers❤👍
No ducts ?

53 seems a bit high
Absolutely. That's just what it was peaking at though. The setup could play down to 27~ish pretty well.
Bass reflex?
Nah, just a nice compact sealed box
@@nicke1370 hey that's neat for a 141dB on sealed, congrats
