    A young lady walking alone at midnight searching for homeless people. Where in the world can this happen?

    In China, if a homeless person is found, he will be sent to a government-run shelter where there is housing and food.
    Next, he will be usually sent back to his hometown (the train or bus ticket will be purchased by the government), and then the civil affairs department of his hometown will take over the rescue, including continuing to provide food and house, and helping to find a job.
    China's assistance to the homeless is undertaken by the government, which is a work, not just charity. Work must be done, while charity depends on the mood of volunteers. Officials will be punished if they neglect this work.

    • @ikhraamosman4479
      @ikhraamosman4479 15 дней назад

      Which means the homeless are being assisted and taken off the streets. So they are not hidden, they are taken care of. We don't do that here in my country, South Africa! Homeless people, even children, are visible because the government does not take of them, nor does it do anything to prevent homelessness.

      I had the opportunity to visit China twice, and I was struck by the absence of homeless people in the streets. Curious, I asked a green space employee about it, he confirmed what you said. I want to express my respect for the Chinese people, for their courage and honesty. I have only good memories of China and the Chinese people.

One thing I'd like to mention here in my point of view is that all these things above come from the result of the education which people have got since they were young and the Chinese philosophy about heaven, nature, and humanity they have been influenced by parents, family, and society. I think this makes the huge difference between China and other countries, especially western countries.

    I live in America and I have not been able to feel safe in my own home for years. I've been homeless in America in the past, struggled to get housed and now the available housing is chaos. There is not a living wage because the economy is dependent on military spending and immigration caused from that action represses wages. Rent is unaffordable as lobbies of corporations that profit from war have bought up realestate and set the price. Poverty and fear of the unknown have become a major political tool of the wealthy who bribe the government and pay for the advertising that runs media. Poverty has been and is widespread.
    *How can I amicably go to China? Is there a refugee or citizen exchange program?
    Either way I appreciate this podcast. I've live an interesting life in America for 51 years and I see what you are podcasting with open mind and heart. I think that I may be killed soon by advanced 'raganomics' if I can't get away though.

      the government funding for social welfare in the western countries is a big piece of cake, 80% of the welfare funding goes to the people working for the social welfare insitutes, I bet most of the position in those institues are set up purely for the welfare insitutes, as an organisation will be self expended and will not stop growing.

    Around 20 years ago, it was easy to see homeless people and beggars even in major cities like Shanghai, they were frequently found in like subway staitions.
    Then 10 years ago, there were still some homeless people in small cities like my hometown, but not many, I could come across like 2 or 3 on street in a year I guess.
    Now, it's almost safe to say you can see no homeless people on streets, not there are none, there actually are homeless people, but they no longer swing on the street. There are lots of jobs that gives daily payment, money's not much but still provides them a choice to spend their night time in places like net bars. So now you basically see no homeless people on the street any more.

    The homeless problem in America is the ugly side of American democracy and western culture(not poverty issues). Homeless people in the US are mostly drug addicted who receive over $1000 month on social assistance money, but they spend all in the first week….even the government provide the shelters, 99% don’t wanna live there, the authorities can’t handcrafted them and send home, because of the so called “human rights” things…their families don’t wanna take care either…

      Yes, but they have the ability to go back to their hometown, but many people have experienced the prosperity of the big city, would rather wander in the city than go back, and now there is no, It used to be a rare thing, because China's land belongs to the collective villagers, urban land belongs to the state, Collective land can only be traded in the village and requires the consent of the villagers, so the rural people have land, and the city may produce the proletariat. But in the past and present in China, there are many labor-intensive industries can not recruit workers, the average wage is 5,000 a day to work 12 hours a month off 4 days, If you go out to a restaurant every day, it only costs about 1000 RMB per month. So as long as you are willing to endure hardship, there is no wandering

    Homeless people live in big cities, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. These cities have high wages and many job opportunities. Many people come from other places to work in these cities. Now they are unemployed and cannot afford to rent a house, so they become homeless.

    I have lived in the San Francisco area for 25 years. Now I live in the northwest of Washington state. When I lived in the SF area I flew out of the Oakland airport 100 times on business. I never saw a homeless person on the streets near the airport. In February this year (24) I visited some friends in the SF area. The last night of my stay I slept in a hotel near the airport to get an early flight out. The street was lined with homeless people. In tents and broken down RVs, old cars etc. There was a fence around the hotel 20' high with a gate and a guard, guarding the parking lot. Now with a new government things will only get worse.

    Absolutamente cierto. He tenido la gran suerte de poder estar tres (largas) veces en China (provincias de Beijing, Xin Jiang, Yunnan, Guanxi, Shanghai, Hong Kong y Guanzhou) y también en otros 47 países. Pido perdón por la pedantería, pero es una manera de decir que tengo elementos reales de comparación. Y también pienso, como Lizzy, que China es (probablemente) el más admirable país del mundo: por sus gentes; por su cultura; y, 'last but not least', por su magnífico Gobierno meritocrático. Gracias Lizzy, por contar verdades en un mundo abarrotado de mentiras.

    • @bobsmith3983
      @bobsmith3983 14 дней назад +1

      It's very difficult to get Chinese citizenship if you are not born in China but it is not impossible. If one of your parents is a Chinese citizen and you are born outside China you have to decide by the age of 18 whether you want to be a Chinese citizen or a citizen of your country of birth. China does not allow dual citizenship.
