Could I just connect it to an extension cable to the power outlet ? Does that make sense ? I mean like connect a phone or something like . It is just to enable the always on
You should not connect it directly to a power outlet which is a higher voltage than the rated input voltage of the doorbell. Having said that, if you do not have a traditional chime, it is possible to use the Always on feature by connecting the doorbell to a power source that meets its rated input spec which is 8-24V~1A. I tested using a 12V 2A DC adapter and the doorbell automatically detected it is hardwired and the Always on mode worked just fine. Like with any other device, just make sure that the output voltage of your power source adapter or transformer is within range and does not fall below or exceed the rated input voltage range of the doorbell or it will likely fry the device or lead to malfunction. Consult an expert if you are unsure.

@@AutomateYourLife so I have installed the 225 and it is fantastic, but I have been looking for any information on upcoming products or a version 2 would you know if there is any upcoming products that will have the starlight sensor?
I have an old 720p ring doorbell . It's getting very slow at detecting anyone coming up my step. So my question would this be a good upgrade in Alberta?
@@DeanZ65 it's been a good upgrade for me Dean. 😃👍
It's not perfect, nothing is. But very good budget wise vs features
@@AutomateYourLife thank you
Do you use this doorbell daily?
What other have you used daily in the past if not?
Daily! It's on our door

Check that video out for a few others we've used
seems like only alexa can show the camera when doorbell is pressed. is that right?
@@LastZion nope, Google too
Google too as in, it will show the doorbell camera when pressed on google home hub? (like nest doorbell)
Ah, you actually did mention it, only with google we can't do 2way comms. I'm running google hubs around the house than alexa, and based in UK, so I need something to work with google home hub (2 way comms)
$100 in the US but $226 in Canada...why so much difference?
That's a reseller, watch yourself. Try buying from Amazon.com :)
👍
😃
2.4GHz WiFi will go farther than 5GHz, so the distance is often less of an issues.
I like that this actually works with smart displays, but only allowing microSD storage is a deal breaker (no, I don't count anything with a monthly subscription. They could expose this to RTSP when hardwired, of course eufy promised this and never did it, so it isn't special.
There's a hub option too :)
@@AutomateYourLife Really might be getting myself a new toy, well toys. I wish the next Prime Day wasn't so far off...Can I wait until Cyber Monday?
i need your suggestion for an outdoor smart temperature sensor! many in the market but need your opinion since we both live in canadian cold weather.. D225 not available at amazon canada yet
For which platform are you looking for one?
The Hub Sucks, the Battery lasts about a month. The Hub has to be connected via Lan. Its Average
What battery lasts a month? In these things? I barely got down around 50% and I was testing a LOT.
Why would you need an electrician? You are installing a 16v jumper wire on your chime. No, I'll not want to hire a very expensive electrician, they'd cost more than the camera (and laugh when you told them you wanted a jumper wire installed).
Also, I've seen brand microSD cards pretty cheap at 128GB, is 32GB still the norm in Canada?
Lots of folks feel unwilling and unsure about things like this and I cannot recommend they do it themselves!
And nope! I just had a bunch I had bought for $4 a piece!
@@AutomateYourLife I understand that, but you went beyond the disclaimer of "you may want to have a professional/electrician/handyman do this" to "you should", it's sad that people get away with post videos like "5 minute crafts" while other videos have to pretend automators can't install batteries.
I meant an electrician would cost more than the Tapo Camera.
It was meant in good jest, congrats on your new house, BTW.
@@StephenMatrese all good! I know I double said it too :)
Just imagine my liability telling someone they can do these things...then an injury or a fire.
It needs to go on a diet. Lol
😋😋
Reolink is better
Depends what you're using it for. Reolink has good visuals for sure
Just buy a ring stop wasting money or time
To each their own!
@@AutomateYourLife it’s more like to each their sponsor
"Wasting money"? Oh, you mean paying Ring every single month to store my recordings, something I can do for free with this and many other doorbells and cameras? Glad you can afford it, I sure can't.
@@OrignalRobRobert Subscription costs are huge and these doorbells are already less expensive. You do you, but try not to come to a video assuming I'm lying to you. If you're going to, maybe just get lost cause no video will be worth it to you.
I test them all and work with all of these companies. So "sponsor" isn't what impacts me.
Don't buy ring. Stop wasting other people money or time.
