+MrSince1991 There is no best song; they're all amazing. I wish I could go back through Time before I had any Brain Damage and get Comfortably Numb on this amazing strain of weed I smoked. I heard Echoes all around me and shouted out, "Hey You!" into oblivion thinking, 'Is There Anybody Out There?' It felt like I couldn't Breathe and had a terrible headache. I decided to walk to the store and get some aspirin despite how stoned I was. But I forgot my wallet and my only choice was to panhandle for Money. I had to Stop because my Mother called me. She's concerned about where I am and have called the cops. Before we hang up she says, "Wish You Were Here son.." by now I'm reaching my high's peak and everything seems to be Obscured By Clouds. I fall asleep, Fearless, swaying back and forth as if I'm on a See-Saw.
Only a few bands had both talent with writing, music and lyrics. I have many great songs saved on here. I listen to a few sometimes. I even listen to a few and cry sometimes. ...the talent is gone...from today's music.
I'm 10 years behind ya, I've been a Floyd fan since we were on a family vacation and the people who were at the next campsite left an 8 track that had a prism on it. So i thought I'd see what this guy Pink Floyd was like, i was hoping for a comedy album. I was sadly mistaken, once i heard Us and Them i was forever hooked. Have been a fan since. Think i was 15 or 16. Back then an excellent evening was having some purple micro dot or blotter, a few joints and DSOTM or The Wall. Actually my drink of Choice was cold Pepsi, although i wouldn't turn down some Jim Beam. Long live the 70's. Peace.
I love older music. There was talent and voices and lyrics were great. I have hundreds of songs favorited on here. I do not have more than 5 songs that were released over the previous 6 or 7 years.
Can we agree this may be the best song of all time? The musical quality is masterpiece, the solo is uplifting, beautiful, yet melancholic. And of course the lyrics are haunting, yet peaceful.
I can confirm this is up there with some Beatles songs. But not the BEST. That title will always belong to The Beach Boys "God Only Knows". That's the Citizen Kane of music.

as a fan of a lot of genres of music and a lot of great guitarists, Gilmour's end solo is so incredible. instead of going off on a self indulgent tangent solo, his solo supports the song and adds to the feeling of the song, I'm guessing not an easy task.one of my favorites for sure.
Oops, I did go a bit over the line there, sorry about that. Now it actually DOES sound a bit too pathetic, but I guess at that moment that's how I felt. Consciously risking of sounding even more pretentious, I'll quote Heinrich Zimmer: "The best things can't be told because they transcend thought. The second best are misunderstood, because those are the thoughts that are supposed to refer to that which can't be thought about, and one gets stuck in the thoughts. The third best are what we talk about.”
+Gabe Grothaus +dov linhos How nice to see such a civil exchange in youtube comments. Imagine if Pink Floyd had been worried about being seen as pretentious - they would never have written anything!
Me n my fella used to watch this in altered state !!! Many moons ago and it still sounds amazing ,but don't tell our kids ,but click like if you did the same !!!haha love Floyd xxx
Most beautiful song ever written in rock in my opinion! Constant goosebumps! Emotions are literally going all over the place! Well done Floyd! Well done!
It is unbelievable, maybe one of the most beautiful, middle of the song guitar solos in the history of Rock, and David seems to come effortless, bless the ears.
+Ramon Arellano Every note is just perfect. It's not even very difficult to play but it's one of my favorites because how it's phrased. Gilmour pours his soul out on the guitar.

I lost a amazing friend a few months ago due to a overdose from heroin. She struggled with her demons for years, she was a great person who loved hard and truly cares for others... I hope she is happy wherever she is... This song was her song. This song has so much meaning to me, I wish everyone that is struggling the best, and you can do, you can beat this addiction! 💗

Just what i was thinking, this song relates to me in this way, So much shit i have going on, everyone on my back telling me what i should do, but im just comfortably numb. Im 21 years old and this music is just great, also im not a big fan of old bands, but to me this one was the best of all times.
I was growing up listening to Pink Floyd. Around 1979-1981. At the time, many many years ago, nothing or no one sounded anything like them. That statement holds true today. Pink Floyd wasn’t a manufactured band, nor did someone buy songs for them to play, their Mngr didn’t set out looking for a boy band. This song reminds me of the days I was "comfortably numb" almost 20 years ago !!!! And it STILL makes me want to use.... But I can talk myself out of it yeah
+Gerry Cariou I had what I referred to as my 'fever dream' when I was 7 or 8. I was sick as a dog, home from school. Oye! My hands were giant sized.. (in my head of course)....... they felt so detached, and I saw things floating in my window. I was a kid, sick with 103 temp...lol Matter of fact, I would continue to have my 'fever dreams' intermittently thru my entire 20's. When I first heard this song, I was blown away that someone wrote a song about my 'fever dream'...... I never told anyone this......... haha
+Raven Meadows Did that fever cause you to need an injection that will make you vomit & feel euphoric, because it's about shooting heroin. While your nodding out you catch fleeting glimpses of shit... Needing info first like how much do u use? Because he gives just enough to hold you over, so you can get through the show, and everything, but it doesn't last...
+james frazier NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Holy shit; I don't need to hear Stewie sing it first, you already fucking ruined. Good job.
This song is just beautiful I close my eyes for the solo and when i do I see when i was little than i see me growing up and than i see me dying, This song is more than better it makes me cry everytime, I cant believe how much music changed, My friends always say i have a bad taste for music when they listen to rap and stuff, this song is so amazing, I have no words to describe it.
What makes this song so good. Great lyrics. The vocal back and forth between Rog and David. Nick and Rick contributing perfect and flawlessly. And that incredible guitar solo. A true masterpiece!
Oh I miss music like this.. what's happened to our music?? I still have all my albums.. my granddaughter doesn't like anything but rap,,these were the good ole days.. good memories..
+Leah Roberts Nobody says to dismiss 2 or more genres, and duh, everyone has different taste. Problem is some people have shit for taste! Sound like you??
Alex Creed George and Eric were awsome together. I always felt they had a great understanding and complimented eachother perfectly. They were very special times for me.
Janet Yow I always wanted this, Bob Seger's Against The Wind, and The Steve Miller Band's The Joker (maybe Dust In The Wind by Kansas too lol). I think it's a great idea, and regardless of what anyone else says I'm sure you put a lot of serious thought into the idea - like I did - and u have very good reason to want this particular song played 😊👍👏
Never been into this kind of music. But I just found out that my uncle whom I was really close to that passed away when I was 3 ...this was played at his funeral. I now love this kind of music. R.I.P uncle Jesse. Love you always.
the playing of the music and the speaking of the lyrics syllable for syllable transports me like a time machine to a time when i was 10 yrs old and the comfort and memories from that time bring. im ..48 now..i was in 5th grade the yr this came out
Except when the song is a part of an album that tells a story. And there's a whole movie based on that album. So we can say that this song has a specific meaning.
Everyone who came here because they wanted to hear this song have a really good taste in music and are rockers!!
Well said I came here becaUSE I love this song

yep, the solos for Floyd songs are all confirmations of "yes, this is what you're intended to feel"
a little cowbell in there would be great, imho...
Agreed. He and Prince. Masters.

No music requires drugs to enjoy back in the 60s we got our kicks from sexy girls and fast cars
Ditto that!

He was a great man who brought much joy to many people's hearts, He will be missed....
Halo3GlitchMaster1 Roger Waters ain't dead I am friends with him on my social media.
Can anybody explain me . Why is it that this song makes me cry??
This song makes me feel so relaxed and comfortably numb
This is the best guitar solo, hands down, in the entire history of humanity.
Oh I miss music like this.. what's happened to our music?? I still have all my albums.. my granddaughter doesn't like anything but rap,,these were the good ole days.. good memories..
I never before realized how fascinating my hands are. Oh look, little people frozen in time on my ceiling.

You can't dismiss two music genres just because you don't like them. Everyone has different tastes in music, and that's fine.
+Leah Roberts Nobody says to dismiss 2 or more genres, and duh, everyone has different taste. Problem is some people have shit for taste! Sound like you??
+Mr. Fox DAE LE WRONG GENERATION!?!?!?!?
2021 and still the best...im 78 years old
The most aching song ever written. I can feel the pain deep inside my bones.
GOLD!!!!!!!
tip: close your eyes when you start the final solo guitar
+Karyme Nevarez trippy
Add weed for an intergalactic adventure.
don't forget to dust off the air guitar before
+Karyme Nevarez tip smoking and enjoy the music
+Stuart “AiCfan” Pot you sound like a little bitch
The best... the final solo is like a scream to God! Brilliant masterpiece.
One of the best iconic guitar 🎸🎶 🎼 solos of all time!!! Plus those lyrics!!
Lots of good and bad memories..this was my entire purpose at one time.2019 whos still listening?
People adore this solo, and I love it too, but for some reason I'm more attracted to Eric Clapton's underrated solo on While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Alex Creed That solo is far from underrated.. Both are great though
Zack Hider I agree it is one of my favorite Solo's of all time
Alex Creed you mean eric clapton, covering george harrison's while my guitar gently weeps. surely you did
Alex Creed George and Eric were awsome together. I always felt they had a great understanding and complimented eachother perfectly. They were very special times for me.
+Matt C no Eric played in my guitar gently weeps. Figure your shit out before you start pointing fingers
A couple of glasses of wine and this tune is so cool to listen too. One of their better arts of work.
I love pink Floyd it reminded me of when I was going to high school I have good memories
I want this played at my funeral next to stairway to heaven
That's a bit strange unless you plan on ODing, and that would be morbid to hear if so...
Seriously you plan on leaving this world getting high? Curious because I used to feel that way!!?
@Janet yow why would you want this played at your funeral? Just curious
Fuck yeah
Never been into this kind of music. But I just found out that my uncle whom I was really close to that passed away when I was 3 ...this was played at his funeral. I now love this kind of music. R.I.P uncle Jesse. Love you always.
Welcome, glad you made it!
Wow what a song! This is AMAZING. The guitar solo is crazyyyy.
the playing of the music and the speaking of the lyrics syllable for syllable transports me like a time machine to a time when i was 10 yrs old and the comfort and memories from that time bring. im ..48 now..i was in 5th grade the yr this came out
mellow out on the couch wit a fat joint listning to this atm nothing better
A song means whatever it means to an individual; and so, saying that any concrete meaning exists to explain a song is wrong on every level.
How the hell arent u getting likes ?
Except when the song is a part of an album that tells a story. And there's a whole movie based on that album. So we can say that this song has a specific meaning.
Gabe Grothaus except for when the artist wrote it about a certain thing.
Song is about childhood scizophania. Swollen hands, thorizine, numbness. Wonder where that came from.
Or... could it be that every interpretation is spot on.
The thing I like about this song is that I can chill out listening to this. This song is so peaceful man. It represents peace man.
comfortably numb my favourite Pink's song!!!! I like it!!!
When a song gives you goosebumps. Listen to the message
