Chris I think the video was more about the comparison of Sansa and Cersei’s arches. They are similar in a lot of ways just like they are different in a lot of ways and their wardrobe shows it.
I had never noticed many of the sigil details in Sansa's costumes, though I did notice the growing authority in their design. The production team (costumes, sets, effects, etc.) are all extraordinary in how well thoughtout and gorgeous they are. Such a shame the writing couldn't match it. Great vid! Thank you.
And the other important details about them both : their hair. But more specifically : SANSA'S HAIR ! First it's in the northern style, in in Cercei's style, then Margaery, etc etc...and in the past episodes, her hair are done just like her mother used to. I love thtat.
In the books the Boltons wear pink and Ramsey has flesh colored armor that looks like musculature without skin (Think Gary Oldman in Dracula). I think what was chosen to be on screen was a wise decision.
Stop blaming the very talented artistic team for the bad writing, it's not their job. So far the music, vfx, costumes, cinematography has been on point and I think they did their best to make this season at least watchable for how beautiful it is. You should be thankful.
that's a stupid bro comment. We never talk or complain about the costume, because that's how you know how good the costume design is on this show. Plots have nothing to do with this video.
You can bet that D&D were the ones responsible for that episode. Cinematography was like "alright we're gonna shoot at night so we need to be careful how we light the scene so the audience can see what happens while still keeping that dark, scary feeling". Then D&D are like "how about no?"
Really disappointed we never got a Cersei vs. Sansa standoff...Cersei and Sansa have way more history than Dany has either woman. Both have smarts and cunning that the Dragon Queen never had because she always had nukes to intimidate other people. They are grown women compared to Dany's toddler tamper tantrums
Eman W Ma Yes! Thank you! Sansa matured throughout her journey, had to learn how to wield her wit, to read people and what they want: Daenerys is a wonderful person - when she’s getting her way. The dragons mean she never has to take accountability for anything, whereas Sansa and Cersei have learned brutally how their actions have consequences. One last scene between Sansa and Cersei would have been gorgeous; there is no true history between Cersei and Daenerys.
@JNikeDid you actually read your reply before sending it? 'Dull and boring and dull'. Or read what I'd written, before you attacked? So in your mind, a leader who organises the recovery of a town and the people who live in Winterfell, who unites lords to a single cause and organises preparations for battle and siege in the cruelest winter in memory, who safeguards her family and the North, is weak? Interesting perspective you have.
@JNike It was Sansa who put Jon on the path to reclaiming Winterfell at all. He had abandoned his post as Lord Commander and joked about 'getting warm' as his next move when asked what he'd do. It wasn't until Sansa showed up at Castle Black and convinced Jon to reclaim Winterfell that Jon took any initiative. It was Sansa's tenacity in seeking out help from the other lords, it was Sansa who brought in the Knights of the Vale, it was Sansa who stopped Littlefinger from trying to play her against Arya and Jon, to use the North the way he had the Vale. Apparently you didn't watch The Long Night: Or do you not consider a vast majority of Northmen and Free Folk dying in that battle to be a loss? Enjoy the last episode.
Production design is getting shittier though. I rolled my eyes lady night when Grey Worm threw Missandei's neck collar into what was very obviously a propane fire, just to have it melt easily.....
Purple is also a colour for mourning. Sansa was not allowed to wear black after the death of her mother and brother, so it has sense she decided to wear dark colors like purple and brown.
I had always thought Sansa's feathered dress was to both show her alliance to House Arryn (their sigil being an eagle) and her no longer being a "little bird"
Honestly, Sansa is a very difficult character to adapt because her essence is in what she thinks, not in how she acts (her chapters in the books are really entertaining) and I think that her costume design was genius, it reflects her psychological evolution pretty well. I don’t remember where I saw it, but Sophie said that she insisted to the costume department and writers to give Sansa a weapon and pieces of armor like the ones Cersei wears, I’m not sure if they implemented because of her suggestions or until they came up with the same idea.
This was such a great video. It sums up why I am constantly entertained by not only the show but the amount of care that goes into the costume design. Love it!
People are complaining too much about what happened but grrm has already told the show runners what would happen, don't expect for Dany to not destroy Kingslanding in the books. However I do think this season should've had one more episode to further develop some plots
@Amelia Carneiro Zhu All of the arcs made sense, but none of them were earned. Not only in terms of how GoT used to work aka "Characters move the plot", which is now replaced with "The plot moves the characters" but also in how the characters are developed. All of the characters are supposed to develop, but also all of the characters are needed to develop each other too, so you have characters acting out of character for the sake of other characters that will act even more out of character because of those other characters. This results in rushed and illogical development for the sake of the story. All of the arcs are contrived, they "make sense" but they are shortened so that instead of taking seasons, dialogue and writing, everything happens in a few scenes. Maybe if they had more episodes they could have made Dany's arc smoother, along with Jon's, Bronn's and pretty much all the other characters too. I can accept the fact GoT storytelling has changed and I am not mad about it, it's just that the writing that is there is not very good anymore.

Thank you, this is the most interesting aspect i found in the series (that's not in the books, or at least, not in this depth). Great work by the costume designers
Can we talk about how Sansa copied hairstyles of Women she looks up to? First, in Kings Landing she put her hair up and uses braids like Cersei. Then, when she escapes, she mimics her mother's Hairstyle and then after meeting danaerys, she mimics Danaerys's hairstyle(Ep 6 S8) then, SPOILER: when she became queen of winterfell, she is bare. No braids. Nothing. A fresh new start. This was from another comment from another video and I just wanted to share. :)
I noticed a lot of similarities between Dany and Cersei's costume's this season. In the final battle both wear entirely red outfits, foreshadowing Dany following in cersei's footsteps as a tyrant
My favorite dress was Sansa's final one. Its a combination of Cersei, Margaery, Littlefinger and the Stark logo. Her crown is a mixture of Cersei and Margaery's (with direwolves added for flare). Then the dress portion is feathers, thorns, Cersei's neck cuff, all with the fabrics of the Stark armor.
It's worth pointing out that Sansa's hairstyle also mirrors the women in power around her. In the first two season her hairstyle closely matches Cersei's, as most ladies of the court would try and emulate the queen's style. By season 3 she starts imitating Margery's hairstyle.
