This time, we're covering the Executioner.
Unlocked at level 31, this weapon is an unusual addition to the selection of pistols available - a hard-hitting shotgun revolver.
The Executioner is Black Ops 2's representation of the Taurus Raging Judge XXVIII - a Brazilian revolver design with the unusual ability to fire 28 gauge shotgun shells.
The original Taurus Judge was introduced in 2010, firing either .45 Colt pistol cartridges or .410 bore shotgun shells.
The later Raging Judge model was a larger variant with bigger frame and longer cylinder - extending the Raging Judge's ability to chamber the powerful .454 Casull round in addition.
The 28-gauge version of the Raging Judge was shown in 2011 but never made it to production. It would have fired 28 gauge shotgun shells exclusively - intermediate in power between .410 bore and conventional 12 gauge rounds.
In-game, damage is very high, although your range is severely limited.
Up-close, the Executioner is entirely capable of killing with just a single shot, and is the only weapon in the pistol category capable of such a feat.
Of course, its damage quickly evaporates - and outside of close range engagements you'll be unable to hit your opponent at all.
Rate of fire is limited to 468 rounds per minute - although slow by most standards, you probably do want to moderate your trigger finger, to conserve ammunition and to ensure optimal placement of shots.
Hipfire spread is the worst within the pistol category - and while the multiple pellets fired with every shot mean that hipfire can be effective at a close range, you will experience more consistent performance when aiming down your sights.
Recoil is high - but again, given the pellet spread and lower fire cap, the Executioner's kick is seldom a factor in your success.
Aim time is a little slower than the other pistols, at 200 milliseconds - but the other handling traits are as swift as you'd expect - as is your mobility, at 100 percent of the base speed.
Magazine capacity is one of the Executioner's key weaknesses - as a trade-off for the one-shot power of the revolver, you'll have only 5 rounds at your disposal between reloads.
Reloads aren't exactly quick, either - shells are inserted individually, with the first round (including ejection of spent shells) taking 1.7 seconds - and every subsequent round an additional 0.6 seconds.
This means a complete reload will take 4.1 seconds, although a partial top-up is always possible.
Your success with the weapon is largely determined by your ability to force engagements in tight spaces - and so sticking to interior locations will often reap reward.
Otherwise - try to limit your long-ranged exposure, and attempt to eke out single opponents, lest you bite off more than you can chew.
The Executioner is a unique weapon that adds a quick-swapping one-shot defence to your build.
No other pistol is as powerful, and the weapon's spread means that pin-point accuracy isn't necessary either.
However, the Executioner's very limited range and short magazine means it will only function well at a very close range - what it boasts in power it lacks in versatility.
This limited grasp does make it a perfect close-range backup weapon, for times when you can rely on your primary for longer-ranged combat - but using the Executioner as a standalone weapon will prove challenging.
Still, there's no other weapon quite like the Executioner - and certainly no other pistol can hope to kill with just one shot.
With this unusual weapon you'll be able to single-handedly mete out justice...

I never liked how in CoD games shotgun rounds simply disappear after like five feet. I guess it's balance, but it's still silly.
+Clonehunter1 the range of shotguns in cod is stupid by itself, in the interest of *"BALANCE"*. some scatterguns IRL have an effective range of 50 meters and a very tight pellet spread (at least double-barreled ones with long barrels).

Same here sorta but that's balance I guess me I love using the sawed off double barrel shotgun in cod5 but I hate it when I get hitmarkers for no good damn reason but sadly shotguns in cod can get easily outbeaten by snipers and smgs it sucks shotguns are awesome love going on killstreaks with them

One problem with the Executioner is that most users will unnecessarily spam shots onto targets, as if it were a two shot kill weapon. Try to moderate the trigger finger a bit more than usual, as you'll do wonders to conserve ammunition.
Very old comment, but it's really hard to do that. A lot of times (this was when I was forced to play with my siblings), but they would always use the tac 45. If I didn't one shot them I would almost always lose (tac has higher RPM). Come to think of it, I wish there were people to play against...

(Cold blooded helps capturing flags because they can't target you)

Anyway, looking forward to the M27 episode; I play Hardcore so that's easily my favorite rifle.

THIS is the poorest excuse for a revolver. its the exact opposite revolvers in past cods had very long range, but this is just a rangeless pocket shotgun. i hate it its useless.

I'm a shotgun and smg player and I really don't know why people hate close range weapons so much if you practice enough you destroy!!
+luca recine It's because they're hard to deal with. SMGs are much more mobile than ARs and LMGs, and Shotgun can kill in just 1-shot, making them frustrating to fight against.

Snipers are like shotguns with infinite range and precision. Most people that use snipers have practiced quickscoping for a ludicrous amount of time, to the point where they are disgustingly effective with them, at any range.
You can always hide behind a wall, to save yourself from a shotgun or SMG; not from a DSR 50, however.
Snipers in BO2 are absolutely fucked up. The only reason people are annoyed by shotguns and SMGs is because they take less skill to use, and the manchilds that have been using their diamond-coated SCAR since two weeks after BO2 was released get butt-hurt when they are one-shot by a "noob weapon".
And people complain about the KSG... fuck off!
Quickscoping is not a videogame skill. You wanna talk about skill with any semblance of validity? Go play Quake. Go play Chivalry. Go play StarCraft. Go play Natural Selection. Go play Hollow Knight. Stop banning shotguns from servers.

This is why BO2 is the best future CoD game. You had a combination of the latest weapons that were produced/were going to be produced at the time of 2012 to use in the game, as well as a very small number of weapons that were fictional but weren't cartoony or too flashy to break the immersion. The SMR, the DSR, the Peacekeeper are not real weapons but damn they could be/are similar to weapons that we actually have. Compare that to BO3 or IW or AW or even BO4 where almost all the weapons are fictional and their designs are cartoony and strange that they don't give the game any shred of authenticity. I'm not asking for pure perfect realism, it just needs to feel authentic and tangible which is what CoD always managed to do before. At least now they have managed to do that with MW2019.

I will always remember playing this game when it came out with my friends, some of my fav memories from being a teenager! I remember all hating the Executioner and one day we bet our friend Harry to get it gold and the crazy kid did it in our shock! Miss those days
Not afraid to say that this gun is by far my favorite weapon to use!
All the people who complain about this weapon being bad understand it completely wrong. If you plan to use Executioner as a primary, you're obviously gimping yourself; use an actual shotgun or any other pistol. But as a secondary, it's nearly the equivalent of MW2's AA12, only with a smaller mag and not automatic.
That being said, it'd deserve a buff in the form of having Fast Mags by default, so that you don't need to use the wildcard just to have an attachment other than that.
Also, much like the KSG which is also frowned upon, people would realize how decent this gun is on PC, since you have so much more control over your aim with a mouse than with an analog stick.

I see Brazilian bank gaurds with this same pistal all around, when they pick up money here in Brazil they have to have there guns out and held in there hands case. I don't know how the rest of the world does it, but here in Brazil we do soo many things different compared to the rest of the world. It's a very unique country. Eu sou Brasileiro. To me, this is the WORST FUCKING GUN in the game. I can't stand the awful handling or the bad range, and it recoils way too much for my liking.
I loved this gun. I enjoyed the fast kills, but if you're expecting it to work like a gun, don't. Instead, think of it like a long knife, were you must get close and personal, and do not let your guard down. It's most effectiveness is flanking and turning corners/entering doorways.

So true, I find it helpful when I play demolition or SAD with a sniper, or any other gun. I like to use it with a sniper class when I am camping back in a small building.

red dot on this plus a running perk setup (dexterity, lightweight, perk 3 greed, extreme conditioning) is the funnest loadout ive ever had
You know I underestimated this weapon. It helped me get several K9 Units and a VTOL Warship using this exact class. Definitely recommend fast mags and long barrel, it's a killier.

hey Mr.Brown, have you ever thought about, for your attachments guide, doing a side-by-side comparison for things such as fast mags, long barrel, suppressor, e.g. showing the reload with fast mags, and also showing the reload without it. Or in the long barrel's case, showing the better effect at longer ranges.

I never did like fast mags with this gun, it being my favorite and most used, I got more sustain being able to cancel reloading since I do it so often. I feel like the better you get with your positioning, the less you need fast mags
Even though semi-auto pistols are more practial they will never be as cool as a revolver and a shotgun revolver is possibly one of the coolest things ever, i want one!

Hey stew have you ever thought about being a broadcaster or a radio announcer? You have the right voice
Tac knife has absolutely effect on a weapon's range. Just because you hold the gun further away from the character model, the range doesn't change. So, Long Barrel really is the best, and only, option for increasing effective range. I'd also give a shout-out to the laser sight, because the smaller hip-fire cross-hair makes getting one-shot kills from the hip easier.

I love the executioner, especially when I use it along with the Remington and tomahawk
Fast Mags and Long Barrel are great attachments for the Judge 28, but I like to have to reload shell by shell, in cases its quicker that way. in this case I use Long Barrel and Tac Knife, since I like the Flick as you top up.
I think that's my favorite outro of all.
I remember a silly game me and my friends used to play on split-screen. Executrioner with suppressor only, scavenger and smoke nades. It was a mess, but really funny.
