New mic is awesome! 👍 No wind noise that I could hear on my smartphone 📱 connected via BT to my external 360° speaker 🔊. Have a safe trip to South Dakota. Hope you don't run into snow 🌨.
I'm trying to get into truckin school and need some tips on how to drive one of those trucks.Shifting and backing tips and vids would be great if you can do some!.Thanks!
Really like your down-to-earth real world tell-it-like-it-is approach. Helps lots of us that are wanna-be truckers understand how it really works without all the BS that some folks throw in. Thanks much!
Have to say I love these videos and I don’t really know why. I’m not a trucker. I love the idea of it though and you are so articulate and easy to listen to. It’s a great insight into what the life is like. Thank you for doing it.
We are in the same boat doing the same job. The company I'm leased to out of Indy does not reimburse O-O's for truck ordered not used, or for bad dispatches which is often. I'm sure they bill for it but we don't see a cent. My second beef is the same one you mentioned which is the inability of dispatch to ask questions, get information about the load, and determine if the load requires flat, step, drop, or RGN type trailers. I'm permitted for 110'-ft long, 12'6"-ft wide, unfortunately bridges in Indiana are still 14'-0" ft with a few still at 13'-8" ft. Hauling heavy equipment and construction related equipment means lots, I mean lots of measuring. Of all the dimensions you can work with, over height is not one of them. Many many drivers found that out the hard way hauling over-height loads through downtown Indianapolis with 13'-8" overpasses inside the spaghetti bowl. LOL
Thanks for the video! The new mic was awesome couldn't hear the wind. You can buy duplex or double headed nails they use them for concrete work, they would work great for what you are doing with them!! That care out there!
Hello Dan, your mic is very good nearly no windy sound! i follow you not hat long but i think a month of tree now i am a retired truck driver from the Netherlands the last 15 years on a tanker with foodstuf all over Europa it is a plessure to follow you! Regards Karel= same as Charly from Holland.
Those tar machines are not something you would see in the South but up north they are quite popular. They put a special kind of asphalt in there, pressure blow the cracks on the pavement and filled them up so water does not get in next winter. It's the frozen water that breaks up the road very badly and then the heavy vehicles just tear it apart.
Great video Dan. The new mic works great we can tell the wind is blowing but we dont hear it lol. When i was on the road Murphy's law was always a factor i had to contend with, onmater how hard you plan things can go wrong. that goes along with the trucken buisness.Stay safe out there.
Damn Dan! It’s a good thing that you got itchy feet in only nine days at the house otherwise you have drilled more holes in your dash AND got yourself a ticket for obstructing your view the first chicken coop you went thru. : ))
Hey, you're coming to my state! Sadly that side of the state is nothing but corn rows. You need to come out west to the Black Hills! Nice video! I always give you a thumbs up!
Thanks for your reply, just kidding about the bunk I was in the Marines so I understand . Good honest videos about trucking thats why I watch you and trucker who, thanks again.
G'day Dan good mic it's called a windshield, it stops all wind noise. My son has a pro camera and he always uses them we call it the rat! I have one for my GoPro as well. Love your vids and Kelly is a lovely dog thanks mate John PS the windshield stops rain noise as well, but the good thing is you don't jeopardise sound quality, the pixels in those little cameras are great, very good quality
I just found your channel! I finally retired from pushin those big things down the road, 31 yrs. lol. 5:48--sounds like you and ur broker need to have a serious talk!
Crafco is my favorite customer. Have been hauling their stuff for a long time. Tony does a good job loading. Bummer getting bounced out of that transformer load though. As they say "sh#t happens". Your doing a great job on these videos.I find them strangely addictive, strangely enough ( laughing). Keep up the good work and be safe.
We call those tar-babies for Crack sealing the expansion joints in the roads before winter freezes. Propane gas heats the unit and compressed air pushing the target through the wand. Drive safe Dan.
all was good and look good to to bad you did not come my way may have be on thelook out for you if came around the richmond va. part of the state so next time and be safe BIG J IN VA.
You new mic works great! It looks like the front wheel on the tandem wheels on those tar machines is smaller, the trailer does not sit level on it's wheels. Thanks for you video, and sorry for your stressful few days, but could always be worse.
I have been watching your videos for couple weeks and this is my first comment. Love your videos man god bless you and keep on trucking I'm a diesel tech but looking to get behind the wheel and start driving what's your advice for me?
+Baravo One Thanks for watching Being a Diesel tech will help you. You know how the truck works. I would find a school/company that offers the most training. Your first year is going to be rough but hang in there once you get some experience it will be easier.
That mike is great and I just subscribed. I like how you are explaining a lot of the business. I do believe I am going to take the plunge into ownership from being a ltl driver. If I am going to work like a dog for them I mighty well do it for myself. Plus thirty some years as a class A truck mechanic in my previous career I can save on repairs as I have a fully equiped shop at home.
Possible place to look for a load when you are in Sioux Falls is AGCO in Jackson MN on I-90 in western Minnesota.. They manufacture various ag machinery.. Perhaps something there for a load
Hi Dan ! Do you have a new load ? What is the name of the machines of your load ? In France, it's the dispatcher who is responsible of the load's offers.
+Mittant Ludovic Thanks for watching Not sure if the exact name of the Machines they are used to tar the road. My dispatcher is also responsible for finding my loads. I just tell her where I want to go to. She does the rest. I have already booked a reload out of South Dakota going to Arkansas.
When I read the title, I thought you were going to buy yourself a new truck !!.... But no,soldiering on with the old one...... Any plans to get a new truck at all, Dan ?? If you did, what would you buy ??
+Jayen4 Thanks for watching I've started looking at used trucks. I don't think I want a new one. I don't want the burden of a big truck payment. Not to sure what brand of truck yet I think I want a cummins or Detroit Diesel engine
Thanks for the quick reply,Dan...... I know that Sergei Dratchev is selling his 2015 Mack.......Don't know if that would be any use to you.... Look on his channel, episode 515 or later......He seems to look after his truck very well.
On your Hero 5 camera on the dash. Did you add that circular lense? Or is that just a magnifying glass? I recently had purchased a hero 5 Black camera & am trying to figure out what attatchments that I'd like to add to the package. Thank You Dan!
Awesome videos, I'm currently a diesel mechanic for a flatbed company, hoping to get on the road soon. Quick question what brand/where did you get your mic? Thanks.

New mic sounds good. Dan, if you had to do it again or was in the market for a new trailer. Would you consider a drop deck?
+fred remington
Thanks for watching
I don't think so. I like running short loads and most short loads are standard flatbed loads.
What do you think about the covered wagon like TMC uses?
If you had all that wouldn’t that help with the tar-ping?
Hi Dan ! Do you have a new load ? What is the name of the machines of your load ? In France, it's the dispatcher who is responsible of the load's offers.

Hey Dan.....I've just discovered a Truckpaper Ad link on Sergei's channel...episode 493. Tells you all about the truck.....
On your Hero 5 camera on the dash. Did you add that circular lense? Or is that just a magnifying glass? I recently had purchased a hero 5 Black camera & am trying to figure out what attatchments that I'd like to add to the package.
Thank You Dan!
+IntoWisOutdoors
I just bought a aluminum case on Amazon. It just has a regular clear Lens and amount for a mic
Okie dokie,...... Thank you Dan,.......
If you ever come to NJ, let me know. I'd like to ride with you for a week or so to learn the business!
Thanks!
Sounds like you need one of them low trailers with the dip in the middle...
Would it be worthwhile buying a step frame flat bed,for taller loads, Dan ??
+Jayen4
Thanks for watching
I don't think a step deck would work for how I like to run. I like to run mostly short loads

I don't think it was the agents fault. The company gave the agent the wrong dimensions.
I meant only.... Not on.
