This is the best beginner tutorial that I found. The narrator speaks clearly, hesitates to give me time to absorb, and no music or distracting sounds in the background. He makes it simple to understand and starts at the beginning of how to load setup etc. video, which is what a beginner wants.
Just upgraded from Studio 15 and I have been a user (amateur) since Studio 8. When I first seen the user interface of 18 Ultimate, I gasp and thought alright here comes the learning curve until I came across your tutorials. Thanks a lot and keep up the great work. If you had PS 17 Ultimate and transferred Red Giant to PS 18 Ultimate I would say to use Red Giant Particular. If you do not have Red Giant you can get a free green screen clip of snow and use that. Thank you so much for taking the time to answer questions! I have a problem and I'm wondering if you can help me with it. You note in your video that we can split a clip into two using the "Split Clips" function (the icon that looks like a razor blade) and then we can delete the second half of the clip or move it to a different spot on the timeline, etc. So I've split my clip and now I want to move the second half onto a different A/V track. However, whenever I try to move the second half of the clip with my mouse, *both* halves of the clip move! If I delete it, both halves get deleted. If I restore it, both halves get restored. And so on. I can clearly see the line where I split the clip in two, so it's not a matter of just not having performed the intended function. When I hover my mouse over the two halves of the clip, I even see the "peel back" function (which I don't want to do). I also tried turning off the "magnet" function, but still both clips keep moving in unison. I'm ready to tear my hair out here (what little I have left). Any suggestions as to what the problem might be? Thank you in advance, and again, thank you for making these videos!
I only recently got my Pinnacle Studio 18, and barely know how to use it. This video helped out a lot and it wasn't boring. I would like to thank you for you short tutorial on the basics. I do have one major question that I really need help on, "How do you get Pinnacle to play .gif files?" I have a bunch of animated .gif files that I made and Pinnacle doesn't play them. Pinnacle Studio Ult.18 will not record live screen capture with both mic and system audio enabled, in win.8.1?! It gives me a no record file error #0 and or #3. It only works if the system audio box is not selected. I updated to latest version, and changed the compatibility settings to win.7 and it still would not record the screen with both system and mic audio. I demo'd Camtasia, and that worked. I will be using Camtasia for live screen capture, unless you have any other suggestions. And, your videos are very informative and helpful, thank you!
I think Pinnacle 18 needed to be able to use two monitors, one for preview, and one for work flow. also a big improvement is to have some kind of and easy camera solve, like Mocha,Blender or something that pinnacle would design. And be able to use alfa channels instead of green screens.I also think they could speed up the render process by not letting your video clips render, they really do not have to render unless you change something in that clip, therefor you could save a lot of render time, I think 18 realest to soon, what I see, it's not worth constantly spending money, I just got done buying 17, I'm sick of every time you turn around there is a new upgrade, why don't they just let us download it for free like a lot of other software companies. I always allow my peeps to post James Sween I appreciate your opinion and agree with a lot of it. :-) So here is my spiel. You can separate your preview screen and add it to a separate monitor. The icon is on the upper right side of the preview window. Although I would love to get Pinnacle Studio for free when a new version is released it isn't feasible for any company to do that. All of the consumer editors I use/have used (Pinnacle, PowerDirector, Adobe Premiere Elements) release new versions every year and you have to pay for them. Think of it like a car. When you buy a car a new version comes out the next year. No one asks the manufacturer to give them the new version because they own the previous version. You keep the car you have until you feel you need a new car or want the upgrades that the new car offers. Do the same thing with video editing software. Only buy the new version if you need the new features/upgrades. Video editing companies, car manufacturers, electronics manufacturers, video game manufacturers, etc. have to make money. If they gave everyone the new version each year they come out they would all be out of business. I would love a new iPad and iPhone since those just came out but I doubt Apple will do that for me either. :-)
I understand what you are saying, I don,t expect them for the yearly upgrade for free, Just during the year, and a little upgrade once in a wile. It seems like every year they release a new version, it's not worth the money. That is why I switch to Power Director 13 It almost has everything I need. Except, some kind of an easy camera solve to show how your camera is moving so you can have all your data, so you can use a special effect to your project so you do not have to use a tripod, Thanks again for letting me post this.

Trollin Matt The basic version of Pinnacle Studio doesn't have the keyframe, customize, or ability to adjust audio. You have to have Plus or Ultimate to have these features.
How do you combine two videos into one? For example, Adam Sandler in "Jack and Jill" I'm assuming he had two film the scene in two parts, but how do you import the two videos into one?

Hey man, i have studio 16 plus. I've been using this program for 2 years now and i just got the upgrade from windows 8.1 to windows 10. Pinnacle studios 16 plus doesn't like windows 10 to well so i was wondering if i upgrade to pinnacle studios 18 plus will i see a difference in performance or is there a way to fix studio 16 from crashing.
KILLARACER34 No way to fix it in PS 16. Corel would have to create a patch to make PS 16 work with Windows 10. Some people are doing fine with PS 18 and Windows 10 and some are not. That is because Microsoft keeps making changes to Windows 10 to fix issues and this is causing issues with other software and/or systems. So buying PS 18 will be hit or miss. I would wait until Sept/Nov when PS 19 will probably come out and go with that as it will give more time for Microsoft to fix issues and Corel can make sure PS 19 works well with Windows 10. When I want to cut a video clip and there's a song on the other track, it cuts both of them (video and a song) and if I choose only the video, the red cursor goes straight to the beginning of the video. Jana Warren No I don't. In PS 18 if you go to the Organize tab you will find Smart Movie at the bottom of the screen. When you are in the Edit or Author tab you drag the montages to the timeline. When importing a file the user manual says their is a "more" button on the selection status indicator to correct the date and timestamp. I don't have a "more" button. I am trying to burn the date and time the video was shot into my project and can't seem to figure out how to do it. Also, anyway to speed the video up more than 500 times? Sorry to post this here. I tried to get to Pinnacle support through the website but you have to log in and when you click log in it doesn't give you an option to log in. Very frustrating. Below is the text from the user manual. Adjusting the import file date and time The internal clocks of the recording devices are often set incorrectly, resulting in incorrectly timestamped media files. The Importer can correct this kind of problem by setting the date and time of the imported files according to your specifications. To correct the file time or date: Use the more button on the selection status indicator to open a window that offers two options for adjusting the timestamps: • Correct time zone: This slider changes the file-system timestamp of any media files you import by up to 12 hours in either direction. You can use this adjustment to compensate for the time difference when you bring home video from your travels. • Set date and time: These fields lets you enter an arbitrary date and time. The timestamp of any media files you import will be set to this.
When I purchased this software I was told it could produce and save a 1080i60 video in .mov or any other Apple based format. I cannot figure out how to do this. Please advise
Just got this, which is a massive upgrade to PS14. One thing I want to ask. On PS14, I was able to find any video put on my desktop. But with this one, do I have to import every video I put on my PC? I mean normally normally PS shows all the pictures / videos on desktop (Whereever you do choose to look for it).
You do not have to import every file you you put on your PC. Go to the control panel and setup your watchfolders. This way any file you place in the location you select as your watchfolder will show up in the program under the library. Then you go to the Organize tab to access all of your files or access your media from the sidebar of the media window on the Edit tab. You can find any video placed on your desktop separately by going to the Import tab, selecting computer, and selecting your desktop.
first off thanks for the videos... purchased ver.18 ultimate and playing around with the different features and your videos help. one question. -- when i play my videos in the window, it's very choppy. i'm on a laptop with 8Gb ram which i thought would be plenty. is this a problem i should try and solve? your videos in the window are so smooth compared to mine. i've tried different videos and all the same. thanks.

Dara darasiemreap If you edit one transition you can copy that transition to multiple ones. Right click the transition and select copy, then right click the next transition and select paste.
Is there any way to save presets for the CPU Color correction/Enhance or a way to copy corrections to correct multiple clips? I need to change 100 clips Auto White Balance, Auto Color and manual Vibrance, Clarity and Haze all the same. I can't find it anywhere and it would seem to be something we'd all like to be able to do.
Again, another great tutorial to get you up and running. One question for you. Can you delete a group of markers at the same time? If you have a hundred or so markers on the timeline and want to delete a group of them, is it possible or do you have to delete them one at a time or all of them in one shot. Love the cows!
Great question Anthony Pierre Click on the drop down arrow to the right of the Marker icon on the tool bar. It will open the marker panel. At the bottom of the marker panel click on "Delete All Markers"

I made a dummy mistake like others probably have, "I filmed the video upside down". Is there a way to rotate the video before I place it in the timeline ?
+MOMS No, but you can rotate it after you place it in the timeline. Open Effects Editor > Camera > Rotate. Now you can Export the video clip right side up. Now when it is in the library it will be right side up before you place it in the timeline.
Great video and wonderfully edited... Need some explanation on how to frame (mask) a video using vector graphics (not going out from pinnacle, but drawing graphical frames to run videos inside them. I mean - not rectangles but frames from splines.
I need help please, I have studio 18 when I drag a video clip to the timeline then drag the corner to create a fade transition the next video starts off in a pause mode then starts up after the transition has completed. How can I correct this? I want all the videos on the timeline to play during the transition fades! Thank You Billy!
I have no idea how to fix this as it seems like a program bug and not an issue with your clips. Most issues that I am able to fix are not an issue with the software. You need to contact the company to get support with the software.
Yes. You can make adjustments to clips in the library (media window) and it will save them in Pinnacle Studio. Keep in mind if you need more of that clip later it will not be accessible unless you create a copy in its original location and rename it

Is there any way to cut your source video into smaller clips without moving them onto the timeline? I'm used to making clips first and saving them to a bin before I start organizing them on the timeline, but for the life of me I can't figure out how do it on Pinnacle! You're my only hope dude!
Senrab3123 I show how to do it in this video. Click on the source video while it is in the media library, go to the preview window, use the mark in / mark out buttons to trim the video.

I just wanted to say thanks for making so many helpful videos on Pinnacle Studio, good sir! However, I'm still determining whether or not I should get it. I'd prefer a little bit more information directly if you or another kind soul could help me. PS18 seems perfect for me so far, I just need to know if it is reliable, won't crash because of multiple gigabyte files, and has an ability to add sharpness at whatever level. The first two are mainly opinions based on experience, and I would appreciate your take on the matter. I've had too many programs fart so hard because of huge file sizes, haha. I ask about a sharpness effect because I've seen many videos that talk about the effects it can do, but none specifically about adding sharpness, and it is an absolute *need* for how I record and edit. If it is available, could you tell me if it's only on Plus and Ultimate or all three versions? It's a basic editing tool, but you would be surprised at how many programs don't have it. I also need to make sure once I buy it, I can keep it. I buy it and I have it; no monthly fee of any sort? I'm sure it seems a bit of an ignorant or arbitrary question, but I just need to know exactly what I'm buying before I buy it, you know? Their website isn't giving me the answers I need, either. Seems that your needs are more than what the program can offer. I don't know of a program that never crashes. I have Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, CyberLink PowerDirector, and a Mac with Final Cut X. They have all crashed before. The sharpness of your video should be established prior to post. If you are looking to create video that is not sharp and then sharpen it in your editing program I don't think that you will find a program that will suit your needs either. Programs can sharpen the image somewhat, but they can't do it without sacrificing some other part of the image. I hope you are able to find something that works for you. :-)
I need your help. I am trying to export and make a video in pinnacle 18. The video is basically a slideshow video but towards the end I have loaded an actual video taken from a cell phone of people talking. The video needed to be rotated so I did that. When I export to create the video everything is fine except when it gets to the audio of the cell phone footage you can not hear the audio. You can hear it before in the editing part before export. Looking for help as I can find any. Thanks
Can you create your own transition ? For instance, I do machine work so can I take a picture of a milling bit and then have it rotate somehow or would I need to make a video of it rotating and then insert it ? Thanks

Hello, On power director 13. On the add ons, Sound wave Editor can you boost the sound on multiple clips all at the same time? Cause I had my camera screwed up on the sound, it was to soft. I needed to boost it but I had to do one at a time. I could not figure out how to do lots of clips all at the same time. If you know, I would thank you so kind.

I noticed that when I put a video in the timeline then add text to it, the text would not get inserted in the video unless I 1st add text then insert a video. Pinnacle still need to fix that.
I have a clip from my gopro, I have used the process you showed above to get it into the timeline, when I play it in either source or timeline there is a lag in the voice and the video. the video plays fine when I view it in VLC or media player or whatever. thoughts?

BonKL Depends on what you are capturing video from. If you are importing files from a camera of camcorder you do not need a Dazzle. If you are capturing from VCR, TV, live feed, etc. you need a Dazzle.
I have a question. Everytime I apply the white balance to a piece of footage on the timeline its like it cannot handle the effect and glitches flashes of color change in the footage. I have ultimate 18 (maybe 18.5). I use a desktop PC. I select the footage, select correction, enhance, and check the white balance box. How can I fix this?

Hello all ! Hope everybody is ok ! Maybe you can help me with a problem in a specific montage (3 bars fade in). When I copy and paste from the timeline (paste in the drop zone), the montage shows the pictures (1..2...3) and then gets dark till the end of the time of the montage. It only happens with the copy and paste from the timeline. If I use the photos from the Navigation it will work normally (expect for the increase of the format of the photo). Any ideias?
In Pinnacle 12 I could create three copies of the same photo. Start with the first one as unanimated and then animate the second one. The third one could then be matched to the end of the second one so the scene could be held for a time. Now in 18 I am having trouble coming up with the same results. I use the animated pan and use "keyframes" to perform the pan. The problem I am having is getting a stationary hold at the end. How do I accomplish this task?
+John Adams Try doing it using 2D Editor Advanced rather than the Pan and Zoom effect under the picture options. Make sure that the last two keyframes you create have the exact same parameters which should hold the position at the same exact place.

In preview it will look grainy based on what your preview settings are. What does the zoomed in video look like after you export it? There will always be some loss of resolution when you zoom in. Search _Pinnacle Studio Zoom_ for a video on zooming and keeping as much resolution as possible with Pinnacle Studio.

I have looked at 4 of your tutorials. I have been using Pinnacle 14 ultimate. Now in the space age with this 18. I can fumble around a bit. I can't get chroma key to work, seems a nightmare. I did thousands of them in 14. Also picture in, I want to widen some SD clips to get them inc sync with the HD clips. You gloss over important things to me. I know you want to cover ground. Too much info in too short a time. One one chroma key, one on picture in picture would be helpful. This program is so complicated, I may just go to my 14 version or buy a Director something that I tried a free trial and it was simple, powerful and rendered like lightning. Thanks for you time.

No, PS 18 does not have Red Giant MBL and you can't install it. The only way you can have it is if you have PS 17 Ultimate with MBL on the system when you install PS 18 ultimate. All Red Giant plugins will then be transferred over to PS 18 Ultimate. There is no other way to do it.
Just got started with P-18 and cannot get the editing modes to show up in right corner of edit window. Just have the Magnet and Microphone. Have a hack for this?
J. Griff Griffin You must have the Basic (HD) version. The Plus and Ultimate versions have more options. There is no way to add more options. You have to purchase the Plus or Ultimate version separately.
I had earlier requested to get help in creating slide show using studio 18. The biggest problem is on sorting the photos in ascending order so that it starts with taken first to the last. I have not been able to get that trick while creating slide show. Any help will be appreciated.

+Xiao Jiang I do not use a laptop for editing. I use a desktop computer because I can add more storage and better video cards. I don't know of any laptops that meet the requirements you are looking for. Sorry. :-(

If you had PS 17 Ultimate and transferred Red Giant to PS 18 Ultimate I would say to use Red Giant Particular. If you do not have Red Giant you can get a free green screen clip of snow and use that. Thank you so much for taking the time to answer questions! I have a problem and I'm wondering if you can help me with it.
You note in your video that we can split a clip into two using the "Split Clips" function (the icon that looks like a razor blade) and then we can delete the second half of the clip or move it to a different spot on the timeline, etc. So I've split my clip and now I want to move the second half onto a different A/V track.
However, whenever I try to move the second half of the clip with my mouse, *both* halves of the clip move! If I delete it, both halves get deleted. If I restore it, both halves get restored. And so on.
I can clearly see the line where I split the clip in two, so it's not a matter of just not having performed the intended function. When I hover my mouse over the two halves of the clip, I even see the "peel back" function (which I don't want to do).
I also tried turning off the "magnet" function, but still both clips keep moving in unison.
I'm ready to tear my hair out here (what little I have left). Any suggestions as to what the problem might be?

I only recently got my Pinnacle Studio 18, and barely know how to use it. This video helped out a lot and it wasn't boring. I would like to thank you for you short tutorial on the basics. I do have one major question that I really need help on, "How do you get Pinnacle to play .gif files?" I have a bunch of animated .gif files that I made and Pinnacle doesn't play them. I was hoping you could help me get an answer to this problem. Thank you!
Pinnacle Studio Ult.18 will not record live screen capture with both mic and system audio enabled, in win.8.1?! It gives me a no record file error #0 and or #3. It only works if the system audio box is not selected. I updated to latest version, and changed the compatibility settings to win.7 and it still would not record the screen with both system and mic audio. I demo'd Camtasia, and that worked. I will be using Camtasia for live screen capture, unless you have any other suggestions. And, your videos are very informative and helpful, thank you!

I think Pinnacle 18 needed to be able to use two monitors, one for preview, and one for work flow. also a big improvement is to have some kind of and easy camera solve, like Mocha,Blender or something that pinnacle would design. And be able to use alfa channels instead of green screens.I also think they could speed up the render process by not letting your video clips render, they really do not have to render unless you change something in that clip, therefor you could save a lot of render time, I think 18 realest to soon, what I see, it's not worth constantly spending money, I just got done buying 17, I'm sick of every time you turn around there is a new upgrade, why don't they just let us download it for free like a lot of other software companies. I always allow my peeps to post James Sween I appreciate your opinion and agree with a lot of it. :-) So here is my spiel.
You can separate your preview screen and add it to a separate monitor. The icon is on the upper right side of the preview window.
Although I would love to get Pinnacle Studio for free when a new version is released it isn't feasible for any company to do that. All of the consumer editors I use/have used (Pinnacle, PowerDirector, Adobe Premiere Elements) release new versions every year and you have to pay for them.
Think of it like a car. When you buy a car a new version comes out the next year. No one asks the manufacturer to give them the new version because they own the previous version. You keep the car you have until you feel you need a new car or want the upgrades that the new car offers. Do the same thing with video editing software. Only buy the new version if you need the new features/upgrades. Video editing companies, car manufacturers, electronics manufacturers, video game manufacturers, etc. have to make money. If they gave everyone the new version each year they come out they would all be out of business. I would love a new iPad and iPhone since those just came out but I doubt Apple will do that for me either. :-)
I understand what you are saying, I don,t expect them for the yearly upgrade for free, Just during the year, and a little upgrade once in a wile. It seems like every year they release a new version, it's not worth the money. That is why I switch to Power Director 13 It almost has everything I need. Except, some kind of an easy camera solve to show how your camera is moving so you can have all your data, so you can use a special effect to your project so you do not have to use a tripod, Thanks again for letting me post this.

Trollin Matt The basic version of Pinnacle Studio doesn't have the keyframe, customize, or ability to adjust audio. You have to have Plus or Ultimate to have these features.

Brent Tillman They did split screen in that movie. You can use this tut and just film the video in the same room, without moving the tripod. Do each take with the artist (one on the left and one on the right).

Hey man, i have studio 16 plus. I've been using this program for 2 years now and i just got the upgrade from windows 8.1 to windows 10. Pinnacle studios 16 plus doesn't like windows 10 to well so i was wondering if i upgrade to pinnacle studios 18 plus will i see a difference in performance or is there a way to fix studio 16 from crashing.
KILLARACER34 No way to fix it in PS 16. Corel would have to create a patch to make PS 16 work with Windows 10. Some people are doing fine with PS 18 and Windows 10 and some are not. That is because Microsoft keeps making changes to Windows 10 to fix issues and this is causing issues with other software and/or systems. So buying PS 18 will be hit or miss. I would wait until Sept/Nov when PS 19 will probably come out and go with that as it will give more time for Microsoft to fix issues and Corel can make sure PS 19 works well with Windows 10.
The other option you have is to roll back to Windows 8.1 and wait for Microsoft to fix all of the issues it is having.

Hi, thanx for wonderful video, I've learned some new stuff. I just have 1 question. When I want to cut a video clip and there's a song on the other track, it cuts both of them (video and a song) and if I choose only the video, the red cursor goes straight to the beginning of the video. How can I change it, so it stays on a place where I want to cut? It wasn't like that in Pinnacle 17... Thanx!

Jana Warren No I don't. In PS 18 if you go to the Organize tab you will find Smart Movie at the bottom of the screen.
When you are in the Edit or Author tab you drag the montages to the timeline. Then double click on a montage and you can add clips from there.

When importing a file the user manual says their is a "more" button on the selection status indicator to correct the date and timestamp. I don't have a "more" button. I am trying to burn the date and time the video was shot into my project and can't seem to figure out how to do it. Also, anyway to speed the video up more than 500 times?
Sorry to post this here. I tried to get to Pinnacle support through the website but you have to log in and when you click log in it doesn't give you an option to log in. Very frustrating.

Adjusting the import file date and time
The internal clocks of the recording devices are often set incorrectly,
resulting in incorrectly timestamped media files. The Importer can
correct this kind of problem by setting the date and time of the
imported files according to your specifications.
To correct the file time or date:
Use the more button on the selection status indicator to open a
window that offers two options for adjusting the timestamps:
• Correct time zone: This slider changes the file-system timestamp
of any media files you import by up to 12 hours in either direction.
You can use this adjustment to compensate for the time difference
when you bring home video from your travels.
• Set date and time: These fields lets you enter an arbitrary date and
time. The timestamp of any media files you import will be set to
this.
When I purchased this software I was told it could produce and save a 1080i60 video in .mov or any other Apple based format. I cannot figure out how to do this. Please advise
Just got this, which is a massive upgrade to PS14. One thing I want to ask. On PS14, I was able to find any video put on my desktop. But with this one, do I have to import every video I put on my PC? I mean normally normally PS shows all the pictures / videos on desktop (Whereever you do choose to look for it).
You do not have to import every file you you put on your PC. Go to the control panel and setup your watchfolders. This way any file you place in the location you select as your watchfolder will show up in the program under the library. Then you go to the Organize tab to access all of your files or access your media from the sidebar of the media window on the Edit tab.
You can find any video placed on your desktop separately by going to the Import tab, selecting computer, and selecting your desktop.

Theres no way to create spaces between all of the clips at once. You have to do it one at a time starting from the end of the movie.

Is there any way to save presets for the CPU Color correction/Enhance or a way to copy corrections to correct multiple clips? I need to change 100 clips Auto White Balance, Auto Color and manual Vibrance, Clarity and Haze all the same. I can't find it anywhere and it would seem to be something we'd all like to be able to do.

Again, another great tutorial to get you up and running. One question for you. Can you delete a group of markers at the same time? If you have a hundred or so markers on the timeline and want to delete a group of them, is it possible or do you have to delete them one at a time or all of them in one shot.

Great question Anthony Pierre Click on the drop down arrow to the right of the Marker icon on the tool bar. It will open the marker panel. At the bottom of the marker panel click on "Delete All Markers"

I made a dummy mistake like others probably have, "I filmed the video upside down". Is there a way to rotate the video before I place it in the timeline ?
+MOMS No, but you can rotate it after you place it in the timeline. Open Effects Editor > Camera > Rotate. Now you can Export the video clip right side up. Now when it is in the library it will be right side up before you place it in the timeline.

Great video and wonderfully edited... Need some explanation on how to frame (mask) a video using vector graphics (not going out from pinnacle, but drawing graphical frames to run videos inside them. I mean - not rectangles but frames from splines.

I need help please, I have studio 18 when I drag a video clip to the timeline then drag the corner to create a fade transition the next video starts off in a pause mode then starts up after the transition has completed. How can I correct this? I want all the videos on the timeline to play during the transition fades! Thank You Billy!
I have no idea how to fix this as it seems like a program bug and not an issue with your clips. Most issues that I am able to fix are not an issue with the software. You need to contact the company to get support with the software.

Yes. You can make adjustments to clips in the library (media window) and it will save them in Pinnacle Studio. Keep in mind if you need more of that clip later it will not be accessible unless you create a copy in its original location and rename it

Hey, how come once I’ve added music to my movie I can only get the music to play and not the movie and music together on the timeline?
Is there any way to cut your source video into smaller clips without moving them onto the timeline? I'm used to making clips first and saving them to a bin before I start organizing them on the timeline, but for the life of me I can't figure out how do it on Pinnacle! You're my only hope dude!
Senrab3123 I show how to do it in this video. Click on the source video while it is in the media library, go to the preview window, use the mark in / mark out buttons to trim the video.

+eadjh98 You can;t get HD on a DVD. You can only get HD on a Blu ray disc. Unfortunately since you don't have Ultimate you won't be able to do it.

I just wanted to say thanks for making so many helpful videos on Pinnacle Studio, good sir! However, I'm still determining whether or not I should get it. I'd prefer a little bit more information directly if you or another kind soul could help me.
PS18 seems perfect for me so far, I just need to know if it is reliable, won't crash because of multiple gigabyte files, and has an ability to add sharpness at whatever level. The first two are mainly opinions based on experience, and I would appreciate your take on the matter. I've had too many programs fart so hard because of huge file sizes, haha. I ask about a sharpness effect because I've seen many videos that talk about the effects it can do, but none specifically about adding sharpness, and it is an absolute *need* for how I record and edit. If it is available, could you tell me if it's only on Plus and Ultimate or all three versions?
It's a basic editing tool, but you would be surprised at how many programs don't have it. I also need to make sure once I buy it, I can keep it. I buy it and I have it; no monthly fee of any sort? I'm sure it seems a bit of an ignorant or arbitrary question, but I just need to know exactly what I'm buying before I buy it, you know? Their website isn't giving me the answers I need, either.

Seems that your needs are more than what the program can offer. I don't know of a program that never crashes. I have Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, CyberLink PowerDirector, and a Mac with Final Cut X. They have all crashed before.
The sharpness of your video should be established prior to post. If you are looking to create video that is not sharp and then sharpen it in your editing program I don't think that you will find a program that will suit your needs either. Programs can sharpen the image somewhat, but they can't do it without sacrificing some other part of the image.
I hope you are able to find something that works for you. :-)
I need your help. I am trying to export and make a video in pinnacle 18. The video is basically a slideshow video but towards the end I have loaded an actual video taken from a cell phone of people talking. The video needed to be rotated so I did that. When I export to create the video everything is fine except when it gets to the audio of the cell phone footage you can not hear the audio. You can hear it before in the editing part before export. Looking for help as I can find any. Thanks

For instance, I do machine work so can I take a picture of a milling bit and then have it rotate somehow or would I need to make a video of it rotating and then insert it ? Thanks

Hello, On power director 13. On the add ons, Sound wave Editor can you boost the sound on multiple clips all at the same time? Cause I had my camera screwed up on the sound, it was to soft. I needed to boost it but I had to do one at a time. I could not figure out how to do lots of clips all at the same time. If you know, I would thank you so kind.

I noticed that when I put a video in the timeline then add text to it, the text would not get inserted in the video unless I 1st add text then insert a video. Pinnacle still need to fix that.
I have a clip from my gopro, I have used the process you showed above to get it into the timeline, when I play it in either source or timeline there is a lag in the voice and the video. the video plays fine when I view it in VLC or media player or whatever. thoughts?

BonKL Depends on what you are capturing video from. If you are importing files from a camera of camcorder you do not need a Dazzle. If you are capturing from VCR, TV, live feed, etc. you need a Dazzle.
I have a question. Everytime I apply the white balance to a piece of footage on the timeline its like it cannot handle the effect and glitches flashes of color change in the footage. I have ultimate 18 (maybe 18.5). I use a desktop PC. I select the footage, select correction, enhance, and check the white balance box. How can I fix this?

I don't know why Pinnacle/Corel decided not to include Italian. You would have to ask on the Pinnacle Studio Facebook page or the Pinnacle Studio Life RUclips page.

Maybe you can help me with a problem in a specific montage (3 bars fade in). When I copy and paste from the timeline (paste in the drop zone), the montage shows the pictures (1..2...3) and then gets dark till the end of the time of the montage. It only happens with the copy and paste from the timeline. If I use the photos from the Navigation it will work normally (expect for the increase of the format of the photo). Any ideias?
In Pinnacle 12 I could create three copies of the same photo. Start with the first one as unanimated and then animate the second one. The third one could then be matched to the end of the second one so the scene could be held for a time. Now in 18 I am having trouble coming up with the same results. I use the animated pan and use "keyframes" to perform the pan. The problem I am having is getting a stationary hold at the end. How do I accomplish this task?
+John Adams Try doing it using 2D Editor Advanced rather than the Pan and Zoom effect under the picture options. Make sure that the last two keyframes you create have the exact same parameters which should hold the position at the same exact place.
Do the videos have a order? or is this just the first and than you can look all others?

I have a video that is sideways I did rotate it but is there a way I can have that photo full screen with out losing the actual pixels making the guy look grainy thanks..
In preview it will look grainy based on what your preview settings are. What does the zoomed in video look like after you export it?
There will always be some loss of resolution when you zoom in. Search _Pinnacle Studio Zoom_ for a video on zooming and keeping as much resolution as possible with Pinnacle Studio.

I am trying to copy the effects/corrections that I have applied to a scene and paste the exact ones on another. I think I could do it with previos versions but not with this one. Am I missing something?
You can still do it, but you can only copy and paste effects (pink line) not corrections (green line).
My frame rate is 60fps, but should I use 60i or 60p? I know there's some difference, but it's escaping me as of now

I have looked at 4 of your tutorials. I have been using Pinnacle 14 ultimate. Now in the space age with this 18. I can fumble around a bit. I can't get chroma key to work, seems a nightmare. I did thousands of them in 14. Also picture in, I want to widen some SD clips to get them inc sync with the HD clips. You gloss over important things to me. I know you want to cover ground. Too much info in too short a time. One one chroma key, one on picture in picture would be helpful. This program is so complicated, I may just go to my 14 version or buy a Director something that I tried a free trial and it was simple, powerful and rendered like lightning. Thanks for you time.

does pinnacle 18 use magic bullets? magic bullets had some nice look fx. is it possible to install this plug-in into 18?
No, PS 18 does not have Red Giant MBL and you can't install it. The only way you can have it is if you have PS 17 Ultimate with MBL on the system when you install PS 18 ultimate. All Red Giant plugins will then be transferred over to PS 18 Ultimate. There is no other way to do it.

Fere Far On the Organize tab create a smart movie. Click on the cog and change the duration of stills.

Just got started with P-18 and cannot get the editing modes to show up in right corner of edit window. Just have the Magnet and Microphone. Have a hack for this?
J. Griff Griffin You must have the Basic (HD) version. The Plus and Ultimate versions have more options. There is no way to add more options. You have to purchase the Plus or Ultimate version separately.
Well, I purchased the upgrade to Ultimate labeled 18.5 and installed it. Will re-install and see what happens.

I had earlier requested to get help in creating slide show using studio 18. The biggest problem is on sorting the photos in ascending order so that it starts with taken first to the last. I have not been able to get that trick while creating slide show. Any help will be appreciated.
Parbhat Sood If you go to the organize tab, at the bottom of the screen click on Smart Movie, select your clips, and you can reorder them manually.
