I've been watching a lot of content about double jaw surgery stuff because I am planning on it in 2023. This case is compelling to me partly because I'm in my 40s and most people doing this are in their 20s, so to see someone closer to my age doing it gives me some peace of mind. As far as before and after pics, it's a nice facial aesthetic both before and after. Hopefully there are health benefits. I'll find out in the remaining videos. For me personally it is very much about the aesthetic, especially my profile, as I have major buckteeth/overjet situation my whole life.
Hi Joe, thanks so much for watching and for the comment! I also watched *a lot* of videos before my surgery and totally agree that it helped to hear other people's stories that were similar to mine. If you haven't already, you may be interested to look at the RUclips page of the clinic I went to in Spain - they have a ton of before/after videos and testimonials from a wide range of patients: www.youtube.com/@InstitutoMaxilofacialBarcelona Best of luck with your surgery prep, and if you have other questions I'm happy to help in any way I can! I will also be posting a 1-year recap video soon that will address some additional thoughts on the whole process/what I wish I knew etc., so keep an eye out for that :)
I’ve been waiting for this video! Love it! Very detailed and made me feel really good knowing that I’m not alone. I’m not over thinking… literally everything you said is what I’m going through and what my intentions are going through with this surgery. Thank you!
So glad you found it helpful, and also nice to know I'm not the only one going through these things :) It's a long process, but you just do the best you can and take it day-by-day!

@@besapeposhi3864 Congratulations on your surgery and getting through those first few weeks! I hope everything is going well so far with your recovery!
Thank you for watching! I was not diagnosed with sleep apnea, but both my dentist and surgeon felt I was at a greater risk of developing it later in life because of my narrow airway. Before surgery, I felt like I slep okay, but I did wake up fairly often during the night and only slept for a max of about 7 hours. Now I may wake up once, but I fall right back asleep and I sleep for 8+ hours most nights - and I also have some data from a sleep tracker that shows improvements!
I am doing pretty well, thanks! I have a 2-year update video I posted a few weeks ago in case you're interested :) ruclips.net/video/SqdCEhTbo8A/видео.htmlsi=ReKgvJGI4YSHmpB2
@@Feelelegant679 I had the teeth removed because there wasn't enough space, but honestly I think what ended up happening is that my palate just became narrower (it was already narrow to begin with) and so it caused more problems than it helped. I also found out I was tongue tied, which probably played a role in my palate not expanding properly when I was younger, and therefore needing to have teeth removed to avoid crowding. From what I've heard, orthodontists have different techniques now to try to prevent the need to remove teeth!
I think that is totally normal! I'm sure everyone's experience is different, and I'm obviously not a doctor/surgeon, but from what I understand that all sounds very normal - it can take a long time for feeling and ROM to come back! I'm almost at a year now and still feel like I have work to do :)

I'm 35 and am doing it in one month. I have serious breathing problems during sleeping and am crossing my fingers that this fixes it
@@imshirazy good luck with your surgery! I hope it helps with your breathing and you get the results you are looking for!
SO GLAD to hear that you’re noticing “Full Body” changes that you had hoped would benefit from this surgery! The airway part is a BIG deal! YAY!
I'm so glad to see you're healing, albeit slowly :)
Thank you!

That airway! Wow! I hope your pullups are going strong!
Thanks Rebecca! Not quite onto pullups yet haha, but will get there someday :)

You're welcome! Thank you for watching!

Have you had your premolar removed?
Yes, I did have 4 permanent molars removed when I was a teenager!
Did it make any difference to your bite?
