I died at the Mindflayer but since the death animation takes some time after the "cait sith fainted" message pops up, Moogle literally punched his last HP away at the same time, and it counted as a win for me, that was my first try. I CANNOT believe that happened LMAO
I’m in cutscene cutaway hell. Having to repeat the fight over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over…..still going
I'm with you. Thought I had everything sorted, then boom, dead because the Moogle disappeared right before Eldritch Horror. Put on Reraise next time, Mindflayer won't let me get enough ATB to recast it and kills me. There have been many challenges where random nonsense occurs and I'm dead.
I see hope. I see that it's doable, but the "I did it first try" comments aren't helping me feel better about myself.

We're all in these fights, so we know the struggles and the lucky moments. I beat the one with Tonberry King and Joker at the end with only Cloud alive and 1 hp. This game is difficult, because it goes after the character you're controlling most of the time and I've even had moments where it feels like the game is actively working against my command inputs, like it sees the menu, and actively want to pull some shenanigans.
@@Texasian959 omg yes!!! The damn thing is easily predicting our moves, without or consciously putting thought into it. It learns moves and by moves, like every single move and action you take is life or instant death. It’s a joke really, I’m still trying that final two bouts…I’m losing interest now though, a lot of work to end up with two 10 round fights and I’m like…screw this…this truly sucks
I think I’m gonna go back to my rhythm game. Something I know that is probably equally as hard if not harder, but at least you eventually make it through

Hands down the best rebirth guides available. You are the modern day strategy guide. What's even more impressive is on some of these you dont even use all your materia slots and/or weapon abilities.
This one took me about 5-7 tries because for some reason the Mindflayer did not want to aggro onto my Moogle reliably, even if I wasn't attacking at all. Finally they left me alone and I was able to do it. I also swapped Chakra for Healing materia as I found you don't really need MP during the mindflayer fight so if they do damage you, healing up is easier with the materia than with Chakra. Thank you again!
Very much like how Moogle will instinctively hide behind the rocks. Great buddy
It's not his the moogle, the ai in general will always hide behind the rocks unless your in his face attacking
All AI party members block and hide during such attacks in the entire game haha
I finally beat this one!! i ran out of MP after the 4th boss and just kept dodging and shooting little green music notes at him, finally ended him!! thank you you are the goat
Remember to turn off magnify after the first 2 fights or you will run your mana out on fights 3 and 4.

This is the worst fight for me so far, thanks for the guide! I had to modify it a bit, but I got it thanks to you!!!
Here are my changes, in case it helps anyone else.
- I swap out a few materia for Time and ATKMATK, since you can stop/slow enemies, and you generally use magic more than physical attacks (see loadout below).
- I use Magnify Firaga on the first two rounds
- In round 3 with the scorpion, cast Blizzara to pressure it, and Fira to knock it on its back if it's already pressured
- I use stop on enemies whenever they're stagger to give me more time
- When enemies are staggered, I cast Stop, then get on my moogle, then spam Moogle Knuckle
- In round 5 with the Mindflayer, I use slow it on whenever it's not staggered, and save my limit break until it uses Eldritche's Horror, the animation lock will save you.
- Weapon: Resounding Megaphone
- MP Absorption == Fire & Ice, Magnify == Fire, First Strike
- Summon: Odin
- Armor: Cetran Bracer
- Magic Focus == Time, Magic Focus == Poison & Petrify, ATKMATK, Speed Up, ATB Boost, Strength Up
- Accessory: Gotterdammerung
- Weapon Upgrades: Moogle Sentinel x2, Moogle Decoy x2

I've beaten all solo battles thanks entirely to your guides. Thanks so much for taking the time to make these and for using strategies that provide for safety, especially given doing a 15 minute Cait Sith run beats doing a run with perfect blocking for 3 days. I finished this one on my fourth attempt and beat Rounds 4/5 on the first try thanks to this. You ROCK. Now onto Bonds of Friendship (hold me).

yoooo thank you for this guide once again, legit got on my first try right after watching and completing your yuffie one. It may have taken 14 minutes for me to beat it but I did it! Now I just got the last 2 legendary combat simulations to complete!
Thank you again for your guides. A little stuck on the last fight. That stupid minelayer keeps teleporting right next to me and killing me. Time and patience. You’ve gotten me through this far, I just need to… sigh.
Love these guides. These are truly the reason I'll be able to platinum this game. The Brutal and Legendary bouts were going to do me in.
That being said, for this challenge, I followed it mostly but I wove in Moogle Kaboom and Dodge N Dive when the moogle was getting low. Moogle Kaboom is free damage when they destroy your moogle. Just have to make sure to set it up whenever there's an opening, which there's plenty of in each fight.
This one was SO PAINFUL! But honestly I couldn't see how it would have been done in any other way! You are so clever! Thank you for the guidance! I cleared all of the single legendary bout! Bonds of Friendship and To Be A Hero is left!!

Took me a few attempts before I realised the moogle has a health bar to the left of Cait’s. Once I saw it, it made mistakes less and I (slowly) smashed that Mind Flayer. Thanks for another easy method.

Quick tip for Eldritch Horror:
I don’t know why but the first 2 or 3 times I tried this with this strat, it would always target me instead of the moogle, so I figured there is a way to actually avoid it:
After using your first limit break at the start of the battle you should be able to charge another one up by the time you stagger the Mindflayer. Hold on to it and don’t use it until you see Eldrich Horror pop up, then quickly go and use the limit break, granted you still have your moogle alive. This will make you immune and that’ll be it. Since it usually happens after it’s been staggered once, you’ll most likely end up killing it in the meantime.
That being said, great guides! These solo bouts have been fairly easy thanks to you, can’t wait for the last two!
First off, thanks Optinoob for these absolutely amazing guides, second, thanks, Andrew for that tip. Because I saved my Limit Break for Eldritch Horror, I managed to tank through it and beat the VR mission.
I've tried 4 times and been hit by eldritch horror (even with the Moogle out) every time.
I managed to survive it once, somehow. Had the Mindflayer beaten, right down to barely visible hp. Telekinesis left the rocks I could get behind against the invisible wall and I could not get behind them which resulted in a dead Cait Sith.
The abomination is the logic behind these challenges, not the enemies in the battles. It's the opposite of fun.
@@WMartinNI I know they can be frustrating, but if anything, going after that platinum got me close to 200 hours worth of gameplay. So looking back I don’t regret all the frustration. Obviously these guides have helped me tremendously, I think I would have just bailed if they weren’t out there!
Tip on evading eldritch horror in the event you don’t have a limit break for s.
It homes in on the target’s location 1 second before it goes off. So if you move or evade when you see the attack name flash up, it should miss you. That seems to be how the Moogle evades it too.
You can dodge using the dodge and out ability if you have the moggle out and 1 atb. This helped me get through it
I knew Cait was going to be the worst one so I held out for your vid and it made it the easiest one yet. Success on first ever attempt. Patience is key. Bravo bud!

Titan in first round is dead in 10 seconds by the way and doesnt even get chance to attack poor guy

@@revit4909 The key for Titan is to cast STOP as soon as the fight starts with Zack, he doesnt get chance to spawn the shield or manawall then, meaning Cloud can jump straight in. Bit more to it, but thats the key!!!

Second time!! I wasn't paying attention to Moogle's health as much as I should have lol. When his health was very, very low, I resummoned him.
I hate Cait Sith so much! I love his character but I hate the way he plays. You're 100% right Opti, Cait is more of a support character. He's not someone to play alone. Finally got him out the way though.

I found that subbing magic up for a reraise will give you a more reliable revive for the mindflayer fight!!! Great guide as always Optinoob!!!
BOOM! I got this one tonight! Here is my advice to those that are still struggling. For Set Up... On the first 2 slots of the weapon make it MP Absorption with Fire & Ice Materia. On the second two slots on the weapon make it Cure Materia and HP Up Materia. Cure Materia is so you can use Regen.
Essentially I got rid of the Magnify, but it's only used in the first 2 rounds, which are generally easy. Round 1, target the center enemy with Firaga and it usually hits the other 2 anyways. Round 2, back up, block and wait till they're grouped together and Firaga.
Now for round 3 -5, after opening with ATB Boost and Limit Break cast Regen. This will carry you through those fights when you get chip damage.
Round 3, use the Blizzara and Fira on the scorpion as much as you can. Takes him down after 3 rounds of it or so with the co-op Moogle and you attacking.
Round 4, don't be afraid to cast Blizzaga (level 3 spell) on it a couple of times. Really speeds up the battle and you have Regen on... so less to worry about.
Round 5, Anytime Mind Flayer disappears, RUN until he's warped back in... usually it will be next to you, and Keep Running away until you're at a good distance away. Don't "roll", it's too slow. You can outrun and then roll away from his purple shots too. Also, Poison him X 2 like Optinoob said.

Finally did this after some rng bullshit! Mindflayer is the worst possible enemy for cait sith. Got through it by swapping out speed for reraise, saved my run twice 👌 thanks for the strat man, gg!
Reraise confuses me so much. How exactly does it work? Do you cast it before you die? How many times can you cast it?
Yes you cast it on a party member before they go down. You can cast it on the entire party providing you have enough mp, think the cost is pretty high but it’s worth it when it comes to boss fights!
@@Mrheyhey2312 thank you! Will definitely look into it. I did see the MP cost was ridiculous but it would be very helpful to use with Magnify. Wonder if it can be casted more than once despite the high MP cost.
If your using a party, use a synergy ability that grants temporary unlimited mp, cast reraise on every member and rinse and repeat if you die. You will get revived with some hp as well which is good for getting the fight started again 👍
Havnt even attempted the zach and sephi ones, after you got me through rulers of the outer worlds i decided to just clear the others and sit tight until yours came haha

I just tried following someone else. But they barely explain what they do and it's near impossible to follow. Can't even tell what they are selecting and it's more frustrating than anything.

Cloud + Sephi are in progress, early days, but good news is that at least Titan in round 1 never gets chance to attack you OR spawn his shield ;)

I'm so curious to see what your strategy will be for the Zack legendary bout. The sephiroth one is honestly super easy because Sephi is broken and spamming his shift slash ability gets you your limit break super quick legit got his done on the first go around but Zacks is a different story.
This fight fucking sucks. I hate it. I've spent hours on it and still can't do it. Cait Sith is still fucking garbage and I don't want to play with him. The battles are tedious and boring and all I want to do is unlock Zack and Sephiroth
Phew that took too long and was scary, I replaced the Steadfast Block Materia with Reraise and it saved my life against the Mindflayer... Phew!
I died to the Mindflayer when he had the tiniest sliver of health leftover. My moogle died, I instantly respawned him but in the millisecond it took me to respawn he started Eldritch Horror so it targeted me instead of the Moogle and took me out from full HP to 0 even through Reprieve. I was so fucking pissed off!

Wow. I'm going to have to try this method for the Hard mode story fight with those adjudicators! This is such a simple method of fighting with Cait!
I would check out my hard mode guide for that chapter as i have to kill them a little differently, still simple though ;)

That was tough and drawn out. I switched Odin for Shiva, she killed the scorpion. And I used Reraise instead of Chakra. It saved me in round 5. I also swapped out steadfast block for magic up cause I had lower stats than you.

Thanks so much for the tips, Mindflayer actually killed me twice so I decided to use Pheonix to be extra safe with Arise incase I get fucked my Eldrich Horror but my reprieve actually saved me on my 3rd try, lucky number has always been 3 lol. Thanks again.

Just an FYI, don't know if it's just RNG or they patched something up but got hit EVERYTIME by Eldrich Horror with Moogle supposed to be the decoy. I added Reraise at the beginning of the 5th fight and worked like a charm! (in case someone has the same issue). Anyways, thx for this great guides Optinoob!!
How did you add reprise? There aren't any more slots to put that materia in. Did you use a different weapon or remove a certain materia?
Oh yeah sorry I forgot to mention that! I used the same gear, I just substituted Poison and Petrify for Reraise, it’s a bit longer since you cannot use Poison but it helps during the last fight against mindflyer in case you get hit by its Eldrich horror.

When u say it's a slow battle but safe I'm totally fine with that. This was a really good method and got the job done on the first shot. I haven't used Cait that much he's probably the least popular character. As u said very awkward to control. I've enjoyed all your brutal and legendary walkthroughs even if I've already beaten a challenge I still like to see alternate approaches. Great video man. Appreciated.
All of these solo guides have been fantastic from start to finish. But lemme add something on this one. SUMMON ODIN! His Zantetsuken will deal 10k damage and end the fight!
Good strat. Fighting as Cait is something I never wanna do but the devs force it on ya in more ways than 1. After doing all the solo missions with the regular cast I'd say this one is the easiest although time consuming.

Ok I don’t understand - Moogle was out, Mindflayer split in 2, used Eldtritch horror twice (each mindflayer copy used it at the same time), both shot at me not the moogle, I had full health, the first shot killed me, I reprieved, and the second shot then killed me for good. How did that happen? This is utter BS.
You can actually cheese the lucky slots ability by opening up the enemy info menu (clicking in the touch pad). Allows you to react to the slots in a more timely manner. I usually do it just after halfway through the prior slot of the slot I'm aiming for. Allows you to easily get a lvl 3 limit break very consistently with only 4 atb (5 if you count brining out the moogle)
Thats a great tip mate, similar to how we pause during the 3d Brawler to see what move is coming ;)
Dude just shows the ultimate defense against one of the most annoying attack in the game (psychotic break) like it's a Tuesday while I have lost all my hair trying hopelessly to run far away from it with the virtual boundaries holding me like old grandmothers on Christmas. Chapeau❤
Cait Sith shockingly was one of the easiest ones when you know what you are doing. I think most of us were dreading his one the most but it wasn't all that bad. I think I got that one on the first try.
Thankfully I've totally finished all the combat sim challenges now! You definitely helped me out for those brutal challenges so I'll always be thankful for that.

Thanks to your guide I was breezing through 1 to 4 but unable to dodge mindflayer's Eldrith Horror. So I improvised and saved my Limit Break strictly for the purpose of tanking these laser attacks and it worked! Hope someone find this useful 😃
Lucky slots saved me from petrification. I used it out of desperation cause I got no cleansing equipped. I have no idea I just selected 3 hearts and it gave me reraise and resist saving me from petrification lol.

Anything involving Cait Sith in this game is legit cancer! To his gameplay, to his mini-game... And this just puts the cherry on top!
Sometimes he would throw eldrich horror at me even with moogle tanking him. Always died to that. So I started using limit break to counter eldrich horror (during limit break you are immune to damage). And blocked every other ranged magic attack he'd throw at me in order to build up a new limit break for the next eldrich horror.
Another banger! The next one im super Intrested In how you handle the zack bout it's way over tuned

This one triggered me bad. The mindflayers never focused my moogle. I take 10 mins to get to him and halfway through fight he one shot me over and over. Took like 6 tries before he just used it on my moogle. I just finished pride and joy, on remake and yuffie. Weiss. Final chapter sephiroth, all the brutal and every legendary beside this.. and I'd say this fight was the worst of them all. I need a beer
After Rulers of the Outer Worlds I hate this fight the most next.
I must've had my dreams shattered by Eldritch Horror at least 7 times.
Tried switching Enemy Skill with Reraise since this guide doesn't apply it on any rounds.
What I FAILED to realize is the effect doesn't carry over between rounds so my dumb self wound up expending MP needlessly.
By the time I got to Mindflayer I didn't quite have enough to cast Reraise.
I almost died on about 5 occasions; he actually conveniently targeted the Moogle with Eldritch Horror *FOR ONCE* and I was able to keep myself afloat with chakra, keeping an eye on my Moogle's health, and Bio(ra).
Only 2 more to go.
I know I've been posting a bunch of whiny comments but I do genuinely appreciate your help. I just think Square-Enix lost the damn plot when they came up with these stupid, cheap, random, unnecessarily difficult challenges that make me want to pull my hair out when they screw me over right as I'm about to win. EVERY. DAMN. TIME!
Fucking WHAT? You can stand behind the rock to avoid Psychotic Break? Damn. No wonder I was dying because I was going by audio only
Using Time instead of Enemy Skill helped with the Mindflayer immensely since it's susceptible to slow. I found unless you're actually attacking a target after Let's Ride, Moogle will just hang out and not aggro.
You can still get hit by Eldritch Horror with the Moogle out, but otherwise, good guide.
Was really afraid of this. Died a few times on scorpion. One jump attack and its most of the time game over. I switched chakra with cure. After that it went good. Just stay dustant play save and heal if needed
I think u could easily replace magnify + fire and ice w/ MP + fire and ice.. You don't really need magify for the first 2 fights. First fight can be one shot w/ limit. The GI can also easily be taken out with limit + a couple of single firas. Then u have 2 free slots for reraise + magic efficiency. It just makes things easier, especially since these fights take so long lol, its nice to have that reraise for emergency if u get bored & careless.
After about three hours i did it. Man... The Rng on these challenges are brilliant bullshit. Swear to god. At first the Gi somehow flew behind me at the start, and one of them did not die. Then the Scorpion started completely ignoring the mog and crossing the arena after me. Then the same happened to the other dragon. And then The Mindflayer started one shoting me with Eldrich Horror. Then i made this: Everytime the scorpion was gonna hit the moggle hard, i called him out of there, and jumped away from him again. Same thing with the dragon. If he came after me, i called mog and jumped of it to scape the attack, and then i called him before the dragon used Gnaw on him to avoid him dying, so i had more free atb. I put reraise and used in Caith so if he died i had about MP for three reraise, and everytime i saw the name Eldrich horror i used the Limit, so the animation would ignore the damage. Guess what? When i did that, the Mindflayer did not use Eldrich horror on me. NOT. A. SINGLE. TIME. until he died 🤡
Now for the good part. Man, it CRACKS me up everytime, Mog all giggly walking around, beating the shit out of the monsters, and HE LITERALLY STOPPED with his hands on his waist waiting for their animations sometimes.
And when Mindflayer used Telekinesis, IT CRACKED ME UP he walking ON HIMSELF to hide behind the rocks 🤣 So funny and so cute 😂.
Now just Two more to go: Bonds of Friendship and To Be a Hero. God Help me.
I can't tell if Sith's was raw spite or because they honestly didn't have anywhere to put one of the most unfair bosses in the game. The whole "Synergy attacks will pressure it" Oh lets put in a fight where you cannot generate synergy.
Just *sigh* I didn't know what to do. They just made its AI just not as aggressive as other ones so it "should be easy" I dodged Eldlitch Horror twice by raw luck and other other 2 times I didn't get hit was Mog taking the hit.

This was an 18 minute fight in which Mindflayer took like 13 of them. I just don't get it. A lot of things about this game's challenges bug me and its insane devs let this one slide and premise of "you CAN beat it" doesn't save it. It somehow tops cloud's and I think I struggled more on cloud but that came down to utilzing Cloud better. You can't utilize Cait better. He was made to be ass. I don't even get the underlying premise of his Bout.
Cloud's is against tanky yet powerful single enemies designed to test your utilization Punisher and cloud's unique dodge
Barrett's is about utilizing Overcharge timing. Making the most of burning ATB then OC-ing to build ATB to do it over again.
Tifa is high octane stagger though you can cheese it with the stop mechanic you still take advantage of Unfettered Fury
Aerith's is about doing what she does best and nuking. Making use of Ward Shift to get out of dodge against enemies who want to rush her
Red is about being a tank. Doing tanky things. It can also be cheesed with magic nuke but it can't be said enough even if you can't use these characters well their enemy sets all have a core theme that ties it all together so you can actually pressure them .
Yuffie is about utilizing Doppelganger and Windstorm combined with ninjutsu. EVEN then most of the enemies are gimmicky and adhering to those gimmicks you can target weaknesses to pressure them.
Cait's..is using Mog to body block. That thing you have no pure control of and is not that resilient. Also Cait SPR and VIT are shiet, Also his movement speed even without the moogle is garbage. Like...what?
I think it took maybe 10 to 15 overall tries with Cloud to succeed and this one like 4 and this one made me angrier. I don't even hate Cait Sith or his gimmick but Mindflayer does not fit the profile for this character. It feels like they wanted to spite you and with all the regional intel creatures in the other bouts they HAD to put flayer somewhere. Ah so give it to objectively the worst/least played character in the game.

I started attempting this challenge at about 210 hours. I am now at 292 hours and STILL can’t beat the mindflayer. It never targets the moogle with its undodgeable purple orbs. Just spams me until I’m dead. I can’t progress further and there is nothing else in game left to do beyond the two challenges that are locked until I beat this.

in the end the damned guy shot some rays at me, and sometimes I couldn't dodge them, and sometimes he aimed at the moogle...;
Anyway, I have to finish the last 3 chapters on hard mode and take on the solo challenges of the others, apart from Cloud and Caith Sith which I did... Thanks again for the videos my friend ;)

revival earings works better for me instead of gotterdammerung, cause I always die due to eldrich horror. For some reason, the mindflyer wants to attack me more instead of moogle (I already have moogle decoy x2) .... 😑
Got this second try, solo cat is just, tedious.
I changed up quite a bit tho. I got rid of magnify and put in barrier and reraise, cause the mindflayer can take you out upon reprieve. Also changed to Phoenix for another Reraise. The first 2 rounds you can use the same limit break opening strat and a fira on whoever survived.
On 2 ATB I used moogle magic to make odin come up and still have a charge. Itll show an ability you can do with triangle that's pretty strong and then hop off immediately. Other than that I never even knew I could use the Moogle to tank haha. Thats how little i play or care about cait sith. I can see how he would be fun to play on easy or normal maybe dynamic but definitely not hard
Also there was an ability called toxic strike that I used with triangle button after I used Moogle magic and mindflayer got poisoned. Somehow I completely forgot he could be poisoned I could have played that more aggressively but the issue is that I would have to go through those long rounds after the first two but thank you the strategy helped me
I finally am onto the last two which I know will be difficult but I think I'm weapon level 9 on everybody except Cloud now!
