- this is how I converted my controller to us a cell phone battery. works great and lasts a hell of a long time. no longer have to buy double A's any more. or worry about where the hell the rechargeable double A's went.

These batteries have built in protection circuit for overcharging or discharging
You can drop the voltage with a resistor
a diode would also be an option. A normal one drops the voltage with about 0.6v. Use two in series and it will also protect your battery as the controller will stop working without draining the battery completely.
Is the battery still okay? Any other clues to why you think the controller handles the battery well in longer terms? Just trying to eliminate some last concerns before giving it a go.
+Bao Nguyen the lithium batteries have a lot more capacity and last longer.
+bam6972 I was actually more concerned about having some components overheat or something bad. I assume you haven't had any explosion cases. I really want to give this a shot asap
+Bao Nguyen its fine. I played with it for 4 hours non stop and it worked fine. just make sure you charge it back up with a lithium battery charger like a imax b6 or something similar.
