    When I had drivers I put a buzzer on the PTO switch to keep that from happening.

  • @WatchWesWork

    It probably did need a pump, but I'm not sure about that diagnostic technique. With the sleeve installed, closing the valve on the return line will basically deadhead the pump. It cannot circulate internally or through the tank. My guess is that closing the valve causes pilot pressure that shifts the valve and raises the bed. I'd be really careful about closing off the return line.

    • @glenbjack
      @glenbjack 5 лет назад

      my thoughts also on diagnosis technique!!!! the pump is flowing we can see and closing the bypass would send flow to the valve and with all that flow its gonna "leak by" (they have clearance built in valves) and it going up is only because the ...forget technical term but the greater surface area on bottom of cylinder will win over the same pressure on the down side of cylinder. pilot id think would just circulate within pump? but who knows??

    • @brettwalkom948
      @brettwalkom948 3 года назад

      It's probably an open centre spool so the oil from the pump get directed through the third line when it's in the centre

    If your dump trucks dont already have them. Go to your parts supplier and ask for a automatic cut off PTO lever. It has the up and down lever plus the pto engage switch. Whenever your drivers put the lever to lower the bed it will automatically cut off the pto. Did that to all my dump trucks and have not had an issue with burning pumps.

We had to swap the ptos out to new ones for the dump bodys and add some heavy duty parker pumps on them. Getting to the top bolts was a real pain, lots of choice words were said about engineers 🤣

    • @PunkJiuJitsu
      @PunkJiuJitsu 2 года назад

      That's a loaded question because there are so many variables. How many cycles per day / week / month do you go through? Typically most manufacturers recommendation is about 3-6 months. At a minimum it should be twice a year. Much like your engine, keeping clean oil in your hydraulic system will ensure your system lasts longer. Furthermore, it may help you catch an issue before it happens in the field. The last thing you want is a failure when your dump truck has 30 tons in the bed.

Never and I mean never did we have a pump go out. Mind you we have had pumps shit the bed on the spreaders and what not. But never the main pump off the tranny. We do have a filters. I’m not the mechanic you are, but I believe you either got a defective pump or there’s a contaminant/metal shavings in your fluid. Do you have a filter? I’m retired in Pa., wish I was closer. I’d drive part time for you if needed. Can’t beat driving new shit. Great videos..... love the content.

    • @benjamun3058
      @benjamun3058 5 лет назад +1

      nima maleki depends on what kind of oil you’re using, what you are using it for, how often you change filters, how much fluid there is, whether or not it’s been contaminated ever. Lots of different variables for hydraulic oils. Consider taking an oil sample and sending to a lab if you aren’t sure. It’s cheap and the report should give you some guidance for your next steps. Looking clean isn’t an indication of the quality.

      Yes I can confirm the 2-1/2" Gear Width 7/8- 13tooth spline shaft pump is a heavy monster. It is STRONGLY recommended to make a bracket to brace this pump to the transmission. The transmission moves while the truck is in motion and you want the pump to be braced to the transmission and not a crossmember otherwise you could cause the flange on your PTO to leak.

      If the pump is left on and the gears inside the pump are burned, the warranty will almost always be declined. I would think it's safe to say that if a dump pump fails pre-maturely then 9/10 times it would be due to improper use.
