No Man's Sky Endurance Update

- No Man's Sky's 20th free update, Endurance, overhauls the experience of being a freighter captain, with a total rework for space bases that allows players to build visually spectacular structures upon their very own capital ship.

Whatever these “space atmospherics” are look absolutely incredible. Well done on another great update!
But there’s no atmosphere in space reeeeee
@@LeTtRrZ it’s a game, are you saying space atmospherics can’t mean the background of stars, colors, etc? Like what do you think they mean, that’s my interpretation
@@LeTtRrZ think of the blackhole as an example.
@@LeTtRrZ Actually there is. It just seems like a pure vacuum to us. Otherwise, there wouldn't literally be clouds of gas and dust making up the nebulae in all galaxies. There are interstellar winds. There are even temperature regions and differences in "atmospheric" pressure.

Every update I'm never expecting what we get and yet it's so satisfying.
Out of context but I really love your profile pic
You guys are insane! Sometimes I’m not sure if you even realize your own genius. Like there is no other studio that is so dedicated and has such a good understanding of what the community wants. I think it simply comes from the fact that you guys and the community want the same think. Mad respect Hello Games, you are the real ones!!
A lot of studios should take note
Well said.
Sean Murray did sell his house to fix his game and he's been putting out amazing updates since. I think it's safe to say we can continue to expect more!
There is one studio who updates their AMAZING game even with the third one on the way, It’s undead labs which is constantly updating State Of Decay 2

Don't forget Factorio. Also have great ongoing updates.

Every time NMS releases a new trailer it puts a smile on my face and makes my day a lot better... thanks Sean and team! :)
kinda agree tbh xD
exactly what a game developer should do, a lesson to be very much learnt from the AAA developers!!
Yeah I adore that despite how ,frankly cruel, the internet was on Sean and gang after the botched initial release (Grrrr Sony) , he listened, and put his team on the task to deliver a game he can now be proud of. He could have been forgiven for just pulling up stumps and bailing with the treatment he got (Honestly it wasnt THAT bad, I strongly suspect people where expecting the Star Citizen that literally nobody, including RSI, was capable of delivering, and that wasnt the game he seemed to be aiming for anyway.) but he didnt.
@@shayneoneill1506 well Sony saw the potential but they had to push the button because afterall this wasn't aiming to be a AAA game. So Sony saw it best to release early and update along the way, there was just so much pr mess and Sony is to blame for that.

It's rare when a company puts so much work into a game after a disappointing initial launch. And even rarer to have a team that actually gives a shit about their game and Hello Games is one of them. Nothing but my respects for them and I hope they continue to make this game a fantastic one 🔥🤙👍
This is quality that some triple A studios can’t pull off. They really did a great job.
@Jinx Facts, Hello Games is full of insanely talented people especially with the rate at which they push out big updates
@Jinx ikr, this is one company I have true respects to. It's incredible what they're able to do with each REGULAR update

Honestly, I cant think of anyone ever having done something like this. and as much as I would love for CP77 to pull an NMS CDPR can't afford it.
Just redownloaded the game last week after not playing since early 2019 and was surprised to see that they are STILL supporting this game. It's absolutely baller, my friends and I haven't had this much fun in a game in a long time.

@Brandon Traviss Game sucks yet I was able to have over a hundred hours of fun and many more to come, I think it's less that the 'game sucks' and more so that you're just being cynical. The game would have sucked if HG pulled a Bethesda/every other crappy big game company move and abandoned the game, moving on to their next project or running with the money. But right now in its current state? It's far from being bad.
Numerous boring gameplay mechanics, yet you mention one of them which I found quite interesting, I thought I was just going to save that settlement let alone take control of it and be its overseer. The side missions it spawns are pretty good too.
There's two types of combat, ground Sentinel combat and starship combat. The latter is exhilarating and very fun to play especially in VR, although it's a bit hard in VR. The ground Sentinel combat admittedly could be better but it's in a much better state than how it was 6 years ago.
How is crafting a joke? They've pretty much done it the standard industry way. What exactly is bad about the survival aspect? Pretty easy to recharge your stuff and there's ocassional extreme storms on extreme planets that force you to think fast and doesn't allow you to spend too much outside. The detail that you have to group up related technologies for a stat bonus makes it so you have to organize your inventory properly. Each star system offers you an inventory slot which can be purchased for an inexpensive amount of money at that point in the game. This both makes resource collection easier and entices you to explore the star system rather than just sitting in the same system forever.
Basebuilding isn't pointless in that you can own hydroponics, decorations, overseer & staff NPCs and starship landing bays along with exocraft geobays. If you want to settle down on a planet and make your base there, you can do so, and the farming alone will reap you lots of benefits. There are also underwater bases you can have, a submarine with a sonar that lets you discover abandoned buildings/starships/crashed freighters... I really don't see how base building is pointless. Sure, you can choose not to do it and be fine, but if you want to explore the entirety of what the game has to offer, you'll be sitting down and building a base anyway as that's one of the more fun aspects of the game. People have created amazing structures using the 'pointless basebuilding'.
"You are essentially just rushing to the middle of the galaxy as fast as you can while making Chlorine to buy fuel" I mean if that's how YOU want to play the game, go ahead. The rest of us choose to take our time and explore and actually enjoy the game for what it is, a space exploration SANDBOX game - the whole point of the game is to take your time.
"Game sucks" Each to their own, my guy
I'm from Brazil. This pioneering game brought to life the desire many players had to enjoy a wider space exploration game. My son and I have many hours playing together and exploring the No Mans Sky Universe. With each update, a pleasant surprise. I hope it stays that way for a long time. Thanks to the whole team for interpreting the players' wishes and surprising with each update. I have faith that someday in the future humanity will be exploring the stars like in the game.
Bruh who cares where you from and no one asked either
From the looks of it, another amazing update. Every update makes me fall in love with this game all over again! I love this game and the devs and I hope these updates never stop!
Yeah i agree. On my side, everytime i see in my notifications "Hellogames as uploaded", i just jump out of my bed of excitment and watch it. Its just facinating that HelloGames never gave up on this game, other game compagnies should learn from them. HelloGame may had a bad start but us, the community, still supported them and here they are today, standing here with free god tier updates. 😁😁😁😁
If they never stop, then a billion years from now No Man’s Sky will literally become its own story: a synthetic multiverse that everyone forgot was a simulation.
Well, this update is far from perfect. Where are the ramps? I want to build my freighter bases like they are buildings -- with the bridge and Command in the top floor and the farms occupying the floors below. But I cannot do that with this new, stupid update. Why? It's because the ladders replacing the ramps only permit me to build *_upwards._* That is why.

I've always LOVED the idea of a full base in a freighter but it was always inefficient compared to one on a planet, now I finally can have fun with freighter bases and it not seem like a ghost ship!
Hopefully the vehicle manager NPC can live aboard the freighter now, instead of being doomed to only exist planetside.
@@alvatoredimarco I certainly hope so, I figured mine is freezing to death inside of my hangar on a remote world constantly plagued with blizzards, the hangar is so large I couldn't even rig up proper heating down there 🤣🤣🤣
I’m confused, I thought you could already love and sustain yourself on a frighten? What changed with the Freighter and planets situation beside the freighter just looking different and more alive
To a certain degree you could, but you couldn't place a lot of resource gen buildings besides plants and crates. And you can't teleport to your freighter, only from it so everytime you needed something you'd get your ship, launch off, fly off the planet, reach space, fly into the freighter which takes like 7 seconds, and then do the hike all the way into your actual freighter habitation area, then walk to what you need. Vs just going to a teleporter and BAM! you're there

Once again, Hello Games truly is one of the rare companies that actually cares about the game. I can't say whether that's true or not when the game initially released but you can tell they do care when you see how far the game has come and all the things they've added that wasn't promised.
Awesome! Recently started playing NMS again after a year and was seriously like "wish I could do something more with this freighter interior" but this is beyond what I envisioned!
It's really amazing to see how far this game has come
And luckily for all of us, it is going to go much, MUCH further still within the next few years. You know I feel this game is still just getting warmed up. Mark my words. 😉
I love that instead of creating new features, theyre delving into deepening the existing mechanics. Keep up the good work Hello Games!
THIS. There's SO MUCH potential in what they've got. Imagine if they spiced up the content from Frontiers, or gave some rare planets the worm bosses? Shoot I'd settle for a combat pilot AI overhaul. I mean yeah we got an update that changed combat, but it didn't solve the underlying issues with space combat because those lie in the fact that the AI acts like a sitting duck even on the hardest settings.
Aye flesh out what's there to make it as perfect as it should be before delving into complementary new stuff
I think planets could use more procidual options, including gravity and hurricanes. Having the whole planet covered in clouds for a small storm breaks a bit of the immersion.

Hey guys, im one of the original players from the old days of No Man's Lie. Sure this project had a rough start. But they didn't give up, they listened to the community, and they've more than made up for it. KEEP IT UP HELLO GAMES!
I mean to be fair. i pre ordered this game, and think its quite a game nowadays but i dont think in anyway people were "too harsh" the game was initially a complete near empty mess of a game that i could barely bring myself to play for more than a handful of hours.
Finally and as I suspected. Now we only need a ship customisation feature. This is epic
That will be the DAY! A great day!
I hope one day they upgrade the ships and release new designs bigger and larger to where we can walk around inside of our ship while on auto pilot flying to a planet and around space. The amount they’ve brought to this game I wouldn’t be surprised at this point phenomenal take a bow
While I admit that would be pretty cool and I would absolutely love to see it happen, I wonder how much trouble it would cause for the rest of the game where everything is based around ships being.. well, a lot smaller than that.
@@alvatoredimarco I honestly think they could make it happen definitely, I just recently downloaded the game again on my ps5 which I scored a few weeks ago and couldn’t get my old saves from my ps4 really didn’t wanna start all over again so I’m playing on creative and having an absolute ball of fun, the whole game was literally 12 or 13gb all together if I’m remembering correctly that’s pretty small considering how vast the game has become.. there only making it better and better It’ll be interesting to see how much more they can add in before performance wise things start dropping
You guys are still killing it. Absolute legends.
Holy crap! This is crazier than I thought! Was so psyched to see Frigates get the living walls and be more like what you'd expect, but classic Hello Games, just keep pushing the visuals and the manufacturing. This is really great. It's time for me to get back into the game again.

Looking badass, as always, good job!
Thank you for all the hard work you guys put it!
I am always blown away by the dedication and love put into this game. Just when I think the game can't be any further fleshed out, that the team must have reached the limit of what they can do to capture their vision, it's then expanded on extensively and with many new and exciting elements. Great work as always.
So: You fixed asteroids, cleaned up freighter building, added some new features, allowed building outside (to some extent), added living freighters, and fixed the flat look of the sky/system FX. I may actually play for this update. Thanks guys. Big improvement in update quality, if there aren't a huge amount of bugs. Now if only there was a touch more optional difficulty to the endgame loop. Like maybe some extra-tough combat missions or something.
I'd really prefer to not have to start an entire new save on a new mode to have a more satisfying endgame. I've put in hundreds of hours, ya'know? That save has legacy items.
Just a small correction, they added living frigates, not freighters... But I can't wait for them to add actual living freighters! I would die in excitement! 😅

I have never stopped loving this game. It inspired me to write a NMS novel. The only thing truly lacking for me is for Team Mercury to implement in game all the Lore they've built up between the launch and Waking Titan. Obrigada, por mais essa atualização maravilhosa 😍❤️👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Parabéns Sean Murray e Hello Games ❤️
I love what you guys did and I've been around since the very start. It was a once in a lifetime experience to see you guys rebuild the game and add so much stuff.
I've even commented about many things on several places and almost everything I pointed out got addressed in the last 3 updates.
So I'm gonna push my luck! >:P
I'm personally really happy with the game as is, but I'd just add two interlinked things: Allow players to shoot down and crash ships in atmosphere and starship customization. Just add a small chance of a shot-down ship to crash and give us the opportunity to fix the ship and take it as our own. I know the game has always been about exploring and getting lost, but since you guys already revamped land and space combat (as well as implement pirate stations and wingmen), it would add a lot to the gameplay. Specially for those more into ship hunting and fleet development.
Hear me out... For years you guys had the salvage station and you can get cool upgrades and storage expansion from it, but it wasn't as worth it cuz searching for distress signals spawn a lot of crashes where there are survivors and you don't have the option of taking the ship for yourself. Being able to shoot down merchants on purpose would prove a way of improving your ship quicker and having an alternative gameplay loop turning salvaging into a viable source of income and resources, specially since the game allows for bounty hunting and piracy.
That brings me to the 2nd point of customization. It would be even better if we could use the salvage components that we usually sell and use it as resource to unlock or change select cosmetics of your ship. So we could change wings, cockpits, engines and colors (limited to the ship type components) at a cost of resources from salvaging. Again adding into this gameplay loop as it is with other options like I do with mainly focusing on refining, product crafting to develop and manage my fleet.
It's maybe asking a lot, but I'm still super happy with the game. Many thanks to the whole team for being a real example of sticking to the merits of your product, creative ideas, concept and vision. In stead of selling out to milk it with dlcs and microtransactions then abandoning it one year later, like everybody else that we're sick about.
Ship customisation would kill ship hunting.
@@Spyro_76 that's why it would be expensive and you'd need to use salvage to construct and unlock components. Ship hunting IS the core of it. Besides, ship hunting is a minor thing since the fans created the Coordinate Exchange. And ships you sell or salvage never interfere with the system ship spawns. It would only allow you an extra layer to invest on your "darling" ship, something people already do for years on the salvage console to get upgrades, storage capacity and rank up.
@@clawofthefallen I hear you. The guys on coordinate exchange are the ship hunters i'm referring to. Anyhow, It would totally work the way you've laid it out. An extra layer of customisation would be great. Maybe rare parts could spawn somewhere planetside, like as rare as an S class spawn kinda thing.
@@Spyro_76 As I said, it would be cool to just have a small chance of getting a shotdown ship to crash in planet atmospheres and we could repair it and take it to keep or salvage it for parts and upgrades. Even if just to sell to get nanites. I think there's a lot of potential in such a mechanic, even without expanded ship customization. Just so salvaging is more interesting and gets better use. Specially for people who dig playing outlaws.
The customization is just a cherry on top and even if it is expensive or requires considerable resources (like how it is with getting storage expansions and ranking ships up) I just like the idea of having yet another avenue of the game to invest in.
I'm a ship hunter and I'm proud of my fleet. I'm specially interested of finding ships that remind me of old arcade shmups (I got the Vic Viper fighter because of the coordinate exchange) and am still on the look out for a single ship configuration I had back in the game's first year. I had found it on a system before the game had the beyond update and that reset the Galaxy so the ships on that system changed. My quest continues! And in that quest I hunted down many ships and tried using the salvage as much as I could, but I always found it to be very wasteful since we got a lot of unusable components that could only be used to sell for cheap while the only real payoff was upgrade components. Again, I don't really expect anything to come out of this, cuz I'm happy with the game as I've gotten into it without hyping and just enjoyed the ride.

I love how the variety in the ways you play this game are being more fleshed out to the point where you can commit to one for the entire game and not need another. For example it's looking like you can spend the whole game on your freighter and not even have to go on planets anymore if you don't want to. Each style of play can be done completely on its own. I love it!
You guys keep knocking it out of the park EVERY damn patch!! Gawd damn! KEEP IT UP!! LOVE IT!!
Sean and team, we love you!
You more than outdone yourself!!!
1400+ hours and still loving this game. 🥰
Holy moly guys! As someone who loves freighter base building, you just made my month guys!
Thank you again HG 🙏, you guys are amazing
I am NEVER, building a farm on a planet EVER again. Thanks for making freighters actually worth getting after all these years! I got sick of having to harvest each plant, in this update there is a circle that floats in the air that lets you collect all plants in seconds. I no longer have to worry about power consumption on my bases. YAY. I've dreamed of something like this for some time. I can't thank Hello Games enough. I wonder what version 4.0 will be like?? Will we get starship customization FINALLY???
This is AMAZING 😍
Love this so much!! I can't wait to update my freighters!
I just bought the game after returning it in 2016. You guys have done an amazing job not giving up and continuing to develop this game!

Looks awesome... NMS became one of my favorite games over the last few years. I feel like they need to focus on something that is less of an update and more of a sequel or something though. The game has been more than redeemed. As awesome as the updates are, they start to feel kind of useless if I dont have a journey to use them on.
They really need to fix the edited base terrain resetting itself issue though. Its the main reason I stopped playing. I put all this time and effort into building bases, just to have the edited terrain reset when I leave and swallow major parts of the bases.
Similar to my story. I have vegetation clipping through all my ground floor buildings... and it has happened twice, both times unfixable without rebuilding. And ain't nobody got time fo dat.
@@christianzilla I never had the issue.
...my freighter isn't on the ground :p
(I had that issue on my first n00b base tho...)
Well done hello games. You continue to deliver.
Starting Steam right now to download the update, and god knows I'm so excited to discover that in game ! Thanks for the hard work you've put into the game, this is truly becoming the game I've dreamt for after playing Freelancer about 15years ago. Lots of love for you all beautiful people
Sean-ta has arrived with beautiful gifts!
Unexpected but not unwelcome. Glad to see there are more updates. Now if only we can figure out what the Station Override chip is for... =P
I still want it to be at least a way to check the systems' ships, so I don't have to do the most stupid grind in any game ever; waiting for ships to land...
It would be nice to have planets overhauled to give more distinct, varied and realistic topographies. Also more interesting things to do with the fauna and planet caves/dungeons.
This is 3.94, expect This type of update in 4.0, which will drop probably after this update
There's always that one guy complaining no matter what. Just wait for it, more things will come and most of all, it's free of charge!
@@Osmone_Everony huh? theyre not complaining, it's just an update wish
@@Osmone_Everony I'm always that one guy expressing ideas for features hoped for. It's not a dig at the game or the devs. There is a difference.
@@porgi2436 Here's hoping.
That's amazing! Thank you so much
Thank you so much for another awesome update!
This game, this game! I seriously wonder what we can expect in just a few more years! Love you guys at Hello Games, keep it up! 😃👍
Never clicked so fast
Clicked faster than my dad when he left
Wasn't expecting this but still very satisfied with every update they send. It brings me back multiple times to get me lost on either another adventure or a continuation on my main story.
I mean, it's really unbelievable that you guys are STILL putting out solid free content. Really impressive, looking forward to trying this and future projects!
Might be a stupid question. But is there a release time for the update on xbox s x? Just saw this update and it isn't updated.
Same thing I'm wondering as well. I've rebooted my Xbox One X, completely powered off (I.e..pulled the plug) and back on; the things I've had to do before to get an update to propagate, but no luck so far. Maybe it's a staggered release by region.
I audibly said “Oh my god!” At the spaceship part of it, like, I am in love with space, all of this is such a dream for me coming true
Thank you for sticking with this game and keeping on with the updates!
Woah, sweet. Thanks for the continued hard work. Amazing!!
Hey CDProjekt, come here to see something...
We have to appreciate how up-to-date with the latest discoveries in the fields of astronomy and astrophysics NMS is striving to be with each consecutive update.
Hello Games do not settle for mediocre, that's for sure.
Super stoked to jump in and play this update along with the latest one and the one in between! I’ve been away from NMS for a while with life stuff and other games, but this one is such a treasure I’ve put tons of hours into. So excited to dive back in! Thank you for continuing to roll out one of the best titles out there🗿
Sean you are a madman! Thank you for everything!
Ok but what are the actual things you can do? If I build a 4-5 frigate fleet that does nothing or timed missions what's the point it's just cosmetic. If I have to grow plants that do nothing what's the point? If I build resources that do nothing what's the point?
You've found the loop. The end.
Ive been here since the beginning. And what a ride it has been! Thank you so much for building the game the way you have and what you have achieved! Incredible journey! Its sooo META! 🤯
Awesome, thank you for another amazing update. I'm going to enjoy rebuilding my freighter base :)
When No Man Sky came out we knew that it had an infinite universe, but what we didnt know is that it also had infinite updates coming.
Great work Hello Games!
