  • The Doble Canala was born in La Paz at Bar Mundo - but it's always sounded awful. With things I hate: Clam Juice and Tomato Juice. So I put off trying it until 2 weeks before I head north. And now I regret the delay. the Doble Canala is a delicious combination of flavors - all better than any of the individual parts on their own!
    Here's the recipe for this unique Mexican drink:
    1) one big beer
    2) Clamato Juice (add Worcestershire sauce for extra flavor, maybe throw in some lime.)
    3) Shot of vodka (substitute tequila because it's Mexico.)
    4) Salt or tajine for around the glass or bottle.
    5) Old newspaper to keep it cold.

    drive through bar sounds like a CHP DUI trap here in California. I generally don't like things mixed with beer but I'd try this once and see how it goes!

    • @AlmostRetiredinMexico
      @AlmostRetiredinMexico  5 месяцев назад

      Yeah - that would be an efficient way to catch people driving drunk or with open containers... Give this a try. Or a chelada - beer, ice, lime juice, salted rim.

    YUuuuum Clam and Tomato. (NOT) I was splashed once by a passing truck carrying bins of Clams in P.E.I. To say I stunk real fishy is an understatement. You brave Mr B. But I guess Tequila can make anything better. But a drive in bar wow. Get it all in while you can. I guess Portland is calling you ?home? soon. I'm thinking you or Flash will have to take me there.

      Hmmm... that's cool. I am on a mission to define Michelada - sometimes it comes with tomato or clamato and sometimes with just lime. But I've found that Chelada only refers to the lime / ice / salt version.

    The "big beer" is called a caguama. Also, I can't think of a better clash between two worlds than a canala from a drive thru bar taken back to and consumed at the pickle ball club.

For example here in the north and along the US/ Mexico border they say "cheve" for beers, while in the interior such as Mexico City they say "chelas". The "bellena" you were drinking is called "caguama" in I think most of the country.
