A great review of a cracking little car. I own a 64 plate TSI I Tech with a 1.2 TSI engine, and believe it or not, it’s actually a great engine for this car and has plenty of low down torque (seems to really pull between 2/3k RPM), if you can find a well looked after model, you won’t regret it
Hello. I've heard there's problems with the rtiming chain with the tsi 1.2... I'd love one but this has worried me. Also ...does having a tsi engine cost more in parts repairs maintenance etc ?
@@littlemissgroove I’ve only owned mine since December, so can’t really say much from experience. However from what I’ve heard, as long as you keep up with the required oil changes/oil filter changes, you’ll get more life out of the timing chain. So far, mine sits at 77k miles and has had a full service history, so far it shows no issues with the chain. Parts are naturally going to be a bit more expensive on a Turbocharged engine compared to a NA engine, but still aren’t drastically more than an NA engine of similar size. Only issue I have is with one of the serpentine belt pulleys (bearings are squeaking a bit), but I’m going to get it done through warranty.

I've looked at a gorgeous itech tsi 1.2 but the insurance was too high so looks like I'm going to for for a boring 1.4 toca :-( If maintenance repair etc will be more than what I pay now I'll never be able to afford a tsi. I've just got an ageing 2006 1.4 seat ibiza sport. High Road tax but its been very reliable and not too high repairs etc. Love it, but too much going wrong now it's 16 years old ! Just need a car for nipping from A to B and don't drive much Thanks for answering 🙂
