My friend was convicted of drug charges and got 7 years. I thought he was guilty the whole time. When he was sentenced he threw a tantrum. I didn’t believe he was innocent until that moment. The look in his eyes was crazy. He’s out now and maintains his innocence. I believe him now.
Throwing a tantrum doesn't really scream "innocent" for me but you know your friend, I don't. I would think remaining calm and appealing the sentence is a better way to go.

He also had a gun on him, which the video doesn't mention. It's not one single robbery, it was at least half a dozen.

I know these are bad criminals including murder but how did they get like this? Others have been born poor, subjected to bad parents and dont resort to life of crimes. Do they have a single adult to look up to? There was a book my kids had to read in High school. I think called The other Michael. (not sure of the name) A black man saw a man with his exact name and age went to prison for murder. So he interviewed him for a long time. The book is a parrallel account of both their lives. The first Michael had a strong mother that when he first was paid to be a lookout for drug dealers at a young age like 12 she immeadiately signed him up to military school, taking extra jobs to pay for it. You could see through the book how each turn taken or not taken made a huge difference in each mans' life.
But people dont see factors playing a role in it. They see black skin and assume the worst because of statistics and years of inbred hatred. I live deep in the south and people here don't see color at all, only character and i pity people who live elsewhere
