      Nicholas Cruz was given life sentences because he was born with fetal alcohol syndrome disorder.
      If these children aren't given the right upbringing, the issues that accompany this disorder can worsen as they get older, especially if they are predisposed to be violent because of it.
      Cruz wasn't stupid.
      Evil maybe , but not stupid.
      He knew what he was doing was wrong by the fact there is video proof of his premeditation.
      If he hadn't been born with FASD he would probably be on death row.

  • @LikeARollingStone248
    @LikeARollingStone248 26 дней назад +12

    I had to study the "Brooks" case in law school. Reason being....Before brooks ran over his victims at random, during that parade while on a rampage. He was already out on bail for two separate arrest that were awaiting trial. One was a year prior to this incident where he pulled out a gun on his 13 yr old nephew and shot at him because the child made him angry. Brooks missed, the nephew ran away and the neighbors called the cops after hearing the gun shots, the police showed up and a police investigation insued. Brooks was arrested after hearing the nephews' testimony, that aligned with other witnesses and was released on bail for $1,000.00 to await trial. Less than a month prior to the parade incident, Brooks was arrested for beating his girlfriend at a gas station after she got out of the car and told him it was over. After he hit her several times, she laid on the concrete infront of the "same suv" he used to run over the parade victims, and "he ran her over" with that vehicle. The suv ran over her legs and when the police and paramedics showed up they took pics of the tire tracks embeded in her legs. She was rushed to the hospital and said she wanted to press charges and get a restraining order. (the suv was his mothers to which he took without her knowledge and commited these crimes). 2-3 days after running over his girlfriend and baby's mama, the police found him and charged him for assult and battery. He was given a low bail option and paid another $1,000.00 and was released from custody to await trial. Less than 2-3 weeks later Brooks lost it, and took his rage out on innocent people in that parade for no reason other then "because he could". But the problem is; Brooks was already awaiting two trials for violent acts, one on a minor child and another on a young woman who was barely 21 yrs old. And those were only the "resent charges". He had a long criminal record of violence. Therefore even though justice was done at the end of this case where he killed so many and injured even more at the parade. The point in law school is; what could the courts have done to prevent this action? And how? Why was his second violent act given only a 1k bail while he was already on bail for another violent act against a child? And him representing himself.....that was just a ton of laughs for legal students. However the judge in this case should have gotten a medal for all she put up with.

    • @nickc5417
      @nickc5417 7 дней назад +1

      As you studied this event can you enlighten as to why this wasn't treated as a hate crime? In the first line of your comment you concertedly state '"Brooks ran over his victims at random". It's curious you would say this in such pointed fashion. You then state as matter of fact he commited this crime 'for no reason 'other than he ccould'".
      Why do you posture this with such duplicity? Yes, I understand this wasn't the basis of your study but you make a point of steering quite steadfastly away from being racially motivated - which clearly it was, illustrated by only a cursory look into Brooks background.

      Having more guns than people in a country and making them accessible to even the most dumb people in the country does that.
      A gun is incredibly easy to end someone's life with, a toddler could use it on someone. It gives people this feeling of power and when they are in an angry mood, they start thinking about shooting.
      Someone with a gun can do a lot more damage than someone with a knife of their bare fists.
      But you guys don't like that logic and guns make you feel safe. If EVERYONE has a gun, then how is anyone safe? What if you don't have your gun when you need it, it will make you want to constantly have it near you. Needing a lethal tool nearby at all times to feel safe is very far from actual safety.
      Yes, there are homicides in my country, but they are mostly related to drugs or other underground business. Those are everywhere, but these insane scenarios like school sh**tings and mass murders are incredibly rare compared to the US. The amount of innocent deaths is insane.
      Do you guys want to know what safety feels like? Being at home without a care in the world while your kid is at a school where nobody has ever been murdered since it opened 2 centuries ago.

    When the theater shooting happened, my family and I lived on the same street but 2 blocks down from James Holmes' apartment and 1 street over from the hospital complex where victims were brought. We could hear the sirens blaring over and over, but didn't know what had happened. Early next morning as I was walking to the bus to go to work, the whole area next to his apartment was blocked off, with police everywhere - they made me turn around and take another street. We still didn't know what had happened until the news came out later in the day and it was absolutely unbelievable to hear what this monster did. The judge says he believes the sentence was just and fair, but he's wrong. A 6 year old girl was one of those killed because she was shot in the back FOUR TIMES, and just for that he deserves the death sentence, which Colorado actually had at the time. THAT would have been just and fair.

    As soon as I saw Cruz’s face it got me so mad that I’m going to skip watching that waste of life but I did want to comment that everyone should read Parkland and Columbine. Both of these books are by author Dave Cullen. And both are masterpieces! Things need like this need to stop! We need to stop normalizing this and stop making it seem like an accomplishment. There is no Best School Shooter award!

    The DP works, but you have to carry it out quickly. You can't wait 20 years. You should get 2 appeals within a year, and if the sentence stands, you don't.

    21:39 "He appeared with orange hair, dyed to appear just like the Batman villain ' The Joker.'" Um, what? Joker has green hair. They even superimposed Joker's head over the shooter's and still didnt notice Joker's hair wasn't orange. Did the people making this video have red-green colorblindness or something?

    No one deserves reparations for something that they've never experienced just because of the color of their skin especially considering that according to history blacks were not the only people who were enslaved around the world.. This goes back further than 56 BC.. Not to mention that people who had nothing to do with slavery should be paying someone who's never experienced it.. If anyone is deserving of money it's only those who suffered from it. Not their current family members hundreds of years later. It's ridiculous..

    Judge Dorow is such an awesome judge. There's a rumor that she had/has her eyes on being chosen for the Supreme Court. If its true about the rumor does anyone know how its going ??? I absolutely love her.
    She had 2 cases in her courtroom that were, in my opinion, famous enough that in say 20 years from now I can tell anyone who asks where I was when the trial began and ended and the verdict and sentences handed down. 1. DB 2. EYE DROP MURDER TRIAL. BTW I heard Judge Dorow took away commissary for DB permanently. 😂😂😂😂LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOO

    Как в Америке, так и в России судебная система сошла с ума, когда отменили смертную казнь (с обязательным ожиданием приговора не менее 5 лет) за тяжкие преступления. В Америке все осложняется еще и тем, что психи имеют доступ к огромному количеству боевого оружия (в России псих должен обладать хорошими связями с криминалом для этого) .

    Im from louisville. I remember that day vividly. I was working at GE appliances, i was having a terrible day as i just started working there a month prior. Anyways i was shooting screws into dryers when my watch buzzed and i saw that there was a shooting in downtown. This was not unusual, this city has a bad problem with inaction from the LMPD, and shootings happen constantly. I myself have been shot at multiple times before. So it was nothing new. But then, my friends were suddenly blowing up my phone. A shooting had also just occured in the parking lot of jefferson community technical college. This bit of info is critical, because there was alot of initial panic from citizens here. We though the guy who was shooting at the bank must have left there, gone to the school, and tried to also commit a school shooting. I think i remember all the schools shut down for the rest of the day too.

    It could just be me but I always felt that by keeping Manson in prison for so long, the powers that be just added more to his mystique. If he had been treated the way most other killers are, he may have been released on parole, and while there woudl have been a lot of brew ha ha, after that died down, society likely woudl have mostly forgotten about him. He thrived on the attention and notoriety and keeping him in prison for so long just kept that going. In the end, he was just a very bitter, small and angry man. He's nothing more than that, but then again, he never was.

    I was supposed to go to Century Theater in aurora Colorado to see Dark Knight the night of the shooting with some friends. My friends went and were in both the theater that got shot and the theater next to the one that got shot. At the last minute, i decided to go to the mountains with my mom. She asked me to go a week before, and i decided the morning of when the shooting happened to go. That was a horrible night when I got the call from my friend who was there. I feel i was lucky, but i lost a couple of friends that night.

    I need help understanding these outrageous life sentences. Does it happen so that each victims death is accounted for? It's, and I mean no disrespect, laughable to enforce. Do they think these people will be resurrected or something? And the 2 minorities that killed the least people get the death penalty? While the premeditated killers just get absurd life sentences 🤦🏽‍♂️ the justice system is ass backwards!
