    Wow...I thought I was aware of all of the recordings of Steiner's scores. What a pleasant surprise.Now I'll have to find and purchase this and other Steiner recordings that you have so thoughtfully posted. Thanks!

    this came out in 1959,the same year as the colossal"ben-hur"and it was just as great.with a pre-untouchables robert stack venturing into charlton heston's territory as jones and bette davis as russian czarina catherine the great among others.i want the CD and the DVD!

    Une suite pour orchestre plutôt originale qui mérite d'être davantage connue. On y reconnait quelques thèmes célèbres dont l'Ouverture 1812 de Tchaikovsky . Merci à SoundtracksFred.

    I believe that Muir Mathieson was one of the very few people whom Steiner allowed to conduct his music for soundtrack use.

    Beautifully done movie version of a “biography” that was debunked before the screenplay was drafted. Corny but entertaining.
