'A dream come true,' Community celebrates new home for Opal Lee

Civil rights activist Opal Lee, also known as the grandmother of Juneteenth, brought the community together to celebrate her new home that was built on the same property that her childhood home was ravaged and wrecked years ago by a white mob.

It’s people like Opal Lee that make this world a better place. I loathe what she and her family went through and what they lost. I’m ecstatic for her today. The home should become a National Monument as a reminder to how resilient people can be and so that we never forget the animalistic ways of racists. I look up to you, Ms Lee. Enjoy your new home at your old home.
