I hope that there aren't as many black people killed today as there was on the first national celebration.

    Thank you.
Miss Opal Lee for your determination that Black Americans have a day just to celebrate our common oneness. A day that we are not seen as property no longer. I am so proud of my heritage. Not given not a thing. Just imagine you are on a continent. You have been brought here forcefully. Your whole generation, been here and now you are free and homeless.. Not given one dime to help you.
But God covered us and we still here today.. The American Constitution meant to degrade us. The American anthem meant to bury our history and exterminate us but God coverd us. We Still Here and WE ARE FREE. Miss OPAL LEE. Thank you I pray God continues to strengthen you. Your mind your body your influence and your love for your people.. Blessings

Following a short-lived colony controlled by France, Mexico controlled the territory until 1836 when Texas won its independence, becoming the Republic of Texas. In 1845, Texas joined the United States as the 28th state. The state's annexation set off a chain of events that led to the Mexican-American War in 1846.

    🦋❤️🇺🇸🎶OPAL LEE, GRANDMOTHER OF JUNETEENTH!🎶❤️🇺🇸🦋
    By Kwabena C. Cegullah III
    Part One
Consistently she flew back to that,
    Very special day,
    On June 19, 1865,
When our people experienced a taste of,
    Freedom’s ray!
    Yes Galveston, Texas,
    On June 19, 1865,
    The reality of freedom,
    Came alive!
Yes for years she hopped on her,
    Sankofa bird,
    To the day freedom’s voice,
    Was clearly heard!
Yes for years she went back in our history,
    Reminding us to,
    Keep alive Juneteenth daily,
    In our view!
    In June of 2021,
    President Joe Biden,
    Respectfully signed a bill,
To recognize Juneteenth as a federal holiday,
Bringing more light to that city,
    That sits,
    On the hill!
He acknowledged Opal Lee's singular mission,
    Which came to fruition,
    On that day,
As we yet wisely walk up Freedom’s Road,
    Come what may!
Now that we have the symbol of Juneteenth,
    Let us bring to visibility,
    The reality of,
Freedom in the keys of life,
    With grace and truth,
    As hand and glove!
    O gracious Grandmother Of Juneteenth,
    Thank you for,
    Helping to mother,
The memory of that genesis of freedom,
    Of which there’s no other!
Let US the living continue to make real,
The true freedom that can only,
    Come from above,
While MAKING AGAPE GREAT AGAIN (MAGA),
    Which is the highest love!
    Amen.
    Peace.
    Blissfully Juneteenthfully Ours Today,
    Minister James Lee Frazier, Jr
    Psalm 78:1-8
    2bcontinued.🎶📚❤️🦋🇺🇸

Whoever wrote this comment.I just want to know your mind set when you use this particular verse. I just don't want to take your word out of context. And especially God's word out of context.

Opal Lee, a little old lady as she said, but that little old lady dreamt of something more, something bigger and if she can do it, others can do it. I love her message. "It's not a black thing, it's not a Texas thing it's for everyone, and I mean everyone" This awesome lady who was in her late 80s literally walked from Texas to the White House, 2 miles a day! And she delivered over a million signatures to congress! At 87 years old every bone and muscle probably ached so bad after each day and through sheer DETERMINATION I bet, is how she walked again each day. I can't imagine the joy, the paranoid feelings too, the it ain't going to last feelings, but the overwhelming happiness that everything you've been praying for has finally come to pass felt. But also then feeling the disgust that you were really FREE 2 and a half years ago!! Free but for the kidnapped people not back at home. Which most were kidnapped by other Africans and sold, some were sold to pay for the boat ride to America which many didn't even make the starvation, beatens, and sickness. Some don't understand what that freedom means, but as Americans we all do. No it's not just a black thing, Ms.Opal Lee is wise, all Americans know and celebrate freedom. Our forefathers have fought and died for our freedom and the sweet, smart, and loving Ms Opal Lee has made sure that Juneteenth and FREEDOM doesn't get forgotten!!! But I do feel like that day is especially important to those who were freed on that date. They should have never been slaves to start. If in the south they had a much harder time than the north. Much harder! Vial and disgusting. I'm originally from New Orleans and much of our heritage comes from Creole, which is African, Spanish, and French Canadian roots. Our cooking that is so beloved and amazing tasting is a combo of those 3 cuisines. So I have a deep respect and love for the people who were wronged so badly but chose to stay and help make New Orleans what it is today. Thank you Ms Opal Lee and Congratulations for your achievement!!! You are an amazing woman!!! ❤❤❤❤

@@tinaharris7046 I read it, Juneteenth was made up by evil swamp thugs to get votes and push division in the US. It is an abomination.
