Man, I still order concrete from Jankon betoni. No wonder all our projects are standing still and everyone is pissed as shit. I wish I'd known this earlier! Goddamned Jankko.
I always loved the fact that he makes such little effort on his part in the phone calls that he even shortens the "joo" (which is casual spoken Finnish for "yes") to a shorter "jo" :D
That man is the owner, CEO or MD of Jankon Betoni. A great caricature. The man reacts in a very typical way for a Finn both to jobs that have gone completely wrong and to the bad feedback received from them. Everything goes to hell, but the expression doesn't waver and no emotions are shown. In private, they rage and break inexpensive objects, but even then, of course, reasonably. A Finnish man's stomach hurts, he is anxious and his head explodes and breathing feels difficult, but he continues looking calm and professional until a heart attack or suicide puts an end to his life.
And they are not originally even professional actors, they are musicians. "Kalervo Jankko" here is one of the best quitarists in Finland. Heikki Silvennoinen.
Having been there in his shoes of having to deal with pissed off customers after your employees have royally messed up the job due to mistakes and caused the whole construction site to be delayed, I can 100% understand how he is feeling 😂 you just have to calmly (no matter how furious you are inside) take in the verbal abuse and the insane financial hits that follow, even if it wasn't directly your fault, but as the owner you are ultimately responsible for it
You should be respondible if you are boss. You haven't informed properly employess or make some team leader who watch over. I been those situatiotions hundred times. Then bosses curse it's hard to find good workers because they think employees already should know all.
@@jps8678 I did write as your are ultimately responsible for it, but most of your remarks are just plain wrong and based on ignorance CEO of a company has nothing to do with training or supervising employees, that is why you have schools, certificates, CVs and foremen. Even with all the experience, all the training and supervision, people are people and will make mistakes from time to time. In construction, electrical and HVAC installations even the smallest mistake, absent mindedness or a lapse in judgement can lead to seriously costly accidents/faults/injuries that can never be fully prevented, you can only try to minimize the risks and repercussions from them
Great video! Jankon Betoni is brilliant. :) Good example of modern humor in Finnish tv is Siskonpeti. For example: Siskonpeti - Äiti koneella (Mom at the Laptop, with SUBTITLES)
I've always interpreted this sketch the way that he is just frustrated because it's not just solely his fault that his products and employees suck but the blame of it all ends up falling on him eventually and he can't do anything but take the verbal beating from his customers.
He should def. check this one out, theres no dialogue so you can just find whatever clip of it . Perintöä odotellessa = Waiting for the inheritance. Thats all you need to know
One of the best Finnish comedy shows is Ketonen & Myllyrinne. Lot of their stuff was pretty dark humor. It's not very new either at this point. Good comedy just doesn't happen very often in this country in my opinion. Maybe you could react to the Pikkupojat scenes where Spede, Vesku Loiri and Simo Salminen were acting little boys. It's pretty hilarious. I don't know if there are any clips with subtitles. There's one clip from the movie Pikkupojat called "Make välihuutajana", which I especially love.
Also the eponymous "Pirjo" by Pirjo Heikkilä. As for the older ones, the Kummeli story "Lakaisijat". And why not do "Pasila" (the police detective cartoon) as well. (Some "Pirjo" episodes and the "Lakaisijat" short can be found on RUclips but these unfortunately seem to lack subtitles so someone would have to provide those. Some random "Pasila" episodes are available with English fansubs.)

There is an imaginary opening for olympialaiset games, where urho Kekkonen opens the games with very low budget "Avaa kisat" (Open the games) .President Kekkonen had some memory issues in real life, too. It has some connections with his rememberings to prime ministeri sorsa and hun ting wild boars in soviet land. This is quite good, i don't know translation, if any. This has also been made by Kummeli.i don"t remember anythimg about Olympiastadion. Maybe the tower and gin long drink.
My impression is that he cares deeply but is incredibly frustrated by things going south all the time. The acting is great and the scenarios are all different and interesting.
You should check Ketonen ja Myllyrinne sketches also. Those are bit more recent and just pure gold. I can recommend, "luomuteurastaja, both AA-kerho, Setämies" ... well they rarely miss with any sketch
Well ironically I think the best current comedy is by the same freaking guy, just 30 years later. Called Kontio & Parmas, a cop show that combines some drama and comedy with Silvennoinen's love for old prog rock. Same comedy group core and quite a few great more modern actors. My view of this sketch is that he's the guy that's right in the middle of everything where he's responsible for all the shit and doesn't have any control over things. Basically a spitting cup and he can't naturally scream at the clients, but like you said, heart attack waiting for all the stress he has to keep inside. It's like your usual business situation where you just end up in a shitty position and there's not much you can do. Probably someone higher than him is also responsible for some decisions that tie his hands on how much he can impact things. I would imagine part of his acting skills come from being an active gigging musician since before this show up to this date. Like it was never really a professional production with auditions for casting and stuff. Just a couple of guys who knew each other, pitched an idea to the broadcasting company and actually got the funding. Then they just pulled it off by some sort of miracle, winging it. But that's also part of the charm I believe, it's like a couple of creative friends shooting off their natural funny acts. The kind that people just gravitate towards in their daily life and friendly circles. And much of it is exactly those real events in life that you might find funny if you can distance yourself from it and see the irony.
Heikki Silvennoinen used to work as a builder, so he has some insight into that sort of thing, too. I think Jankko is just unlucky and has to shoulder the blame for his crap employees having messed something up once again. So I don't think it's unreasonable to feel sorry for the guy, no.
I don’t think there are any recent sketch shows, everything today is just this putous improv crap that is not funny. I think the most recent one with quality sketches is ketonen & myllyrinne, which is already 15 years old. Other good (older) ones, trabant express, mankeli, vintiöt, Ihmebantu, studio julkahuvi, pulttibois, manitbois, huuliveikot, mutapainin ystävät, hymyhuulet, vesku show, spede show, lapinlahden linnut, paristo
It is a global phenomenon. Good comedy and satire is dying because these days so many people have a thin skin and have lost all of their sense of self irony. Everyone is afraid of offending each other.
People still use that muttered "asia kunnossa" when things go to shit :D
on the point :D Asia kunnossa!
i feel like it has expanded to a similar status as "noniin". It works wonders in so many different situations.
Viimeks eilen kuulin kaverin suusta hahaha :D

Him getting pissed off and throwing things was quite popular meme outside Finland too at one point.

How about Verotarkastus from Kummeli. ”Tax inspection”. That is a killer one.
I don't think it has English subtitles though :(

Siskonpeti is pretty popular on going Finnish comedy sketch show on tv right now
Btw, in Finnish "j" is not a 'dzei', it's a 'ya', like in Yankee.
I'm happy it's Jankon and not Jarkon. That could've sounded rude with English pronunciation.
This is legendary!
I think it is workers are bad and don't know their job and he needs to lead them and take responsibility of these unskilled workers.
Ketonen & Myllyrinne is a more modern Finnish comedy thing, check out their skit "Sienimetsällä" if you can find subtitles :D

Do "kummeli säämies työhaastattelu", more deadpan comedy
The most accurate representation of middle management ever produced.
I think this works exactly same reason than Mr Bean... and that reason is he acts geniously minimalistic way 😂
This is very "surkuhupaisa" which means tragically hilarious.
If you want bit more modern finnish comedy try: Siskonpeti Season 2: Finnish Booze Day
Legendary gif material
Fun fact FCbarselona use last janko's rage their official twitter account when they lost game.
my fav would be kontio & parmas so many awesome jokes in every episode
They wanted to go more mental but they had to use the same props in other sketches so they couldn't
You should check out "Pulkkinen". Great sketches!
Asia kunnossa is something people say when others complain :D its kind of provocative sometimes.
Somebody should make subtitles for Ytte ja Mosse for this guy
What about Velipuolikuu or Studio Julmahuvi, maybe the best two of them all.?
