Yes, ""Koskenkorva" is the most famous Finnish booze ("viina", is the term we use; it is technically not vodka, since it "only" has 38% alcohol, which is below in the required 40). The brand also has the stronger 40% version which they do call vodka, but that is not the traditional drink.
@6:05 the belt he is wearing is called a "Helavyö" - a "hela belt" or literally "ferrule belt". It is a part of the southern ostrobothnian national costume and is usually accompanied by a puukko -knife or two.
Those guys were indeed all musicians who decided to do comedy as well. They made all the music in the show as well. I think the sons have just inherited their father's heart disease and it's nothing more complicated than that; nothing contagious.
15:12 That's a pot for heating water, heated with wood. Common in wood burning saunas where there's no electricity to heat up water for washing yourself.
Attaching tins or something similar to make noise is a Finnish tradition when someone has gotten married. It is like the Anglo-Saxon sign: "Just Married", but in the form of noise.
They just got old and bitter while wishing an ill thing for their father. Koskenkorva is one of the most well-known villages in Finland. Actually it's internationally known since the label on the bottle promotes it. Marks & Spencer sales the product in the UK: "Kekkonen explains Koskenkorva" and "Koskenkorva - Vodka from a Village". Tasting the salmiakki flavor Koskenkorva: "First Time Trying Salmiakki Koskenkorva" and "Koskenkorva Salmiakki Liqueur | Salty Liquorice Vodka Review".
I first saw a some of these, the part without dialogue, was they were presented as some initiative for different countries to share their humor. I guess the second half continuation was made later. The other original ones part of that program were the 2 "world in flames" scetches.
Hello bigan. I had a friend from Annan and he visited me a couples of times 25 years ago. Of course i had to treat him with sauna. It was awooden heated one.. First i noticed that to be naked was not his Cup of tea. But when throwed water on the stove he left the sauna like he was scared to death. It was brilliant. He came back and we had a laugh. I just said to him what he teached me erlier, Nea danger 😂😂 Thanks to M. Wilson
seems like almost everyone here has known some old guy like that at some point.... Someone who seems to be barely clinging on, yet still functional, and somehow nothing seems to kill them :D
More Kummeli here, a sketch about pretentious arty-farty theatre productions that make no sense: Paha Kurki with English subtitles. ruclips.net/video/ztKenGKH_OM/видео.html
When i was young i accidentally heated sauna over 130c but ofc i went there because must throw some water because pipe was red hot :D Normaly heating it 80-110c
Once you said that Finnish humour is unpredictable This time i bet you did not see what is about to come😂 And yes, the old man is drinking raw Koskenkorva Vodka 38% vol😂 He is just like old timers from the winterwar against Russia, they where tough like iron never complaining anything just survive no matter what😅 And oldtimers took so hot sauna, that you would boil❤
Best sauna were i have been showed around 150 celcius and i tried to be up in there had to give out when i burned my back and ears 😂 thats whats called sisu 😅
One legendary Kummeli sketch is 'Musavisa'. It's a music competion show where participants try to guess what country the song is from. Every time different groups answers Canada even though it's nowhere near correct.😅 Songs are pretty funny too, parody songs made by the Kummeli crew. Try this one for starters: ruclips.net/video/zBjZDYGv4yQ/видео.html
And it is almost impossible to translate the language in english, because they are always talking in very funny way of Finnish, so there is also whole antoher world of comedy the way they are speaking Finnish.
Yes, rural finns from 80s. Houses look poor but those are actually old, passed through generations. Over 100°C Sauna but I like 80°C. 100 is more like accidental overheating. That sink can warm up water by burning wood. No electricity needed.
The old man has most likely some problems in the heart cause he taps his chest all the time. Too much vodka and hard work+ fatty food. But he is strong ...and survives...the younger guys go worse all the time. This is a comedy but also a tragedy in a way indicating the greed of the younger ones to just wait for heritage.
The original Koskenkorva Viina is basically vodka with 3 grams of added sugar per liter, so it's not an entirely pure vodka, although based on the current EU classification it is vodka.
Genious level undertanding moment with that fly... Does anyone remember opening scene of once upont the time in the west, there was same type of spontanious fly moment, whits they expand little in artificial way. By the way Mert, you looked like third brother beside those two, whe old fart stopped breathing, only thing was different you start laughing whe old timer start to breath again, but you were not in hes will i gues 😂😂😂
They choose very funny vocabulary in these Kummeli sketches but the translation translates it to very plain and boring. It could be translated alot more precisely to forward the comedy better but I guess they are auto generated or something.
Thinking my youth.. I tried to drink something quite heavy, with 40% alcohol... Homemade "pontikka"/"ponu" could have even more... 😂🤢 P.S. Quite lively older man! 💕
The "sink" you mentioned is a wood burning stove to heat up water. Found in wood burning saunas with no running water.

Yes, some people chop wood in the countryside or in summer-cottage.

the things attached back of the car are common for when couple has been married and they drive away from the curch
It is not from Kummeli stories but this was scetch that ran over several seasons, because of the popularity.
I first saw a some of these, the part without dialogue, was they were presented as some initiative for different countries to share their humor. I guess the second half continuation was made later. The other original ones part of that program were the 2 "world in flames" scetches.
Awesome!!!😄👍
It's a custom when people are married, empty tin cans are attached to the end of a weddied couples car.

The guys in Kummeli are amateur actors. Basically just musicians that decided to do comedy.

It would be nice to have a beer with you in the middle of nature
He drinks Finnish koskenkorva, it is pretty close to vodka
Clear booze would be direct translation.
@@Redfizh I wanted to be more specific
How so close to vodka? It's Koskenkorva vodka 😁

@@aphaapajarvi7487 Yes but only because EU decided it, i hate EU and their stupid rules.
