"One of our rituals around Christmas is that we would go out to Luther Perkins’ grave. John would lay down on the grave and we would take Luther a pill, a cigarette, and a beer. One day when John was lying on Luther’s grave smoking a cigarette he said to me, 'I think you should produce a gospel record for me. If Luther don’t oppose I think we should do it.’" That’s how Johnny Cash’s record 'Believe in Him came about.
