Worked perfectly on my poodle. Dewormed him in no time at all.
Thanks worked like a charm!
Clogs are usually beyond the p trap, usually beyond the trap arm as well, in the pipe in the wall or even in a elbow in the basement or crawl space.
Agree
Exactly, ive used a snake and cleaned many drains and that clog is hardly ever in the front, its way back in the wall ,
Those in the wall are daunting on older homes...........yikes.
Mine was in the basement.. it couldn’t have been cleared without the snake.
90% of time the blockage is not in the trap it is in the drain line.
Exactly, that clog never hardly is in the ptrap
Yes I took apart my pipe to get to the drain line then use the snake and unplugged it
This worked perfectly for my kitchen sink. I can't believe that it was this easy. The entire process took me about 20 minutes and my sink is flowing perfectly. The 15FT one was more than long enough to get the job done. Thanks!!!
Did you put any solvent or disolvent after ?
Thanks! I fixed my clog!
Yes, good advice
Good video and great presentation! Thank you for your help!
OH MY GOSH, thank you so much. I purchased a snake and wondered how to get it through the kitchen drain (I am a DIY'er b/c I am single, private school teacher and have to save money.], and my house is 1965. I do NOT have a disposal, and do not use grease in my food, and am usually very careful to wipe and pullout small food bits to prevent them going down the drain, but suddenly - week before the holiday - the sink won't drain rapidly. I have used 1 c B.Soda and Vinegar, an Enzyme/Bacteria product from the hardware store and a 1/4 inch x 4 foot plastic tube to blow out and stir up the area with the dissolvers I put in there. I see the black groddy looking particles coming up when I blow down about 3 feet [that is as far as the tube will go] and hot water, but it's been 4 days now, so I had purchased the snake as a last option - and your video was helpful. I will update you on how it goes and I think I do have galvanized pipe that - who knows what condition it is in - pier and beam house, and want to avoid crawling under there - again. ugh. THANK YOU SO MUCH for this lesson on plumbing.
Have you tried the snake yet?
Yes it is not so fun! M at it right now! Did you sort yours?
654 dislikes are plumbers lol
thanks exactly what i needed! problem solved 😃
I have a big snake
@@MikeJones-vi6mx SSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!! SSSSSSSS S S S S S SSSSSS
Thanks, I did it and it works
This happened today. I live in an apartment and they came and snaked the drain. Turns out the clog wasn't in my unit. It was further down the pipe but I heard him yell. Oh no and I asked him what happened and he said that the snake punctured the pipe. I think it was the p-trap he said. He quickly cleaned up the water, went and got a replacement trap and installed it and everything was fine but he said it was because the pipe was corroded but that wasn't what caused the blockage. But funny that you mentioned that
Very helpful tutorial! Thank you.
Love your demonstration kitchen! It makes you look about 2 feet tall 🤣🤣🤣
There is one wash basin in my home which was installed recently. It is installed in a space in a wall so that the drain pipe descends through the bricks and cement under the basin. It is a countertop basin. the drain pipe bends to reach a nani trap just under the floor. The plumber did a blunder that he forgot to remove a plastic sac stuffed at the time of construction in the trap. I have removed the plaster and uncover the pipe which goes down from the basin. Now, is there anything which can catch the sac and bring it out. Kindly help.
My sink is identical to that one. I need to try that.
Can these types of snake go beyond the trap though? Like further down into the wall portion of the piping?
Or would you have to take the visible piping out for such clogs?
The snake can go further. But each time you hit a “T” junction or bend it will get hard to move it forward. Trick is to keep rotating as you push.
So what you're saying, is "call a plumber". Indeed the best option, but it's not cheap!
plumbers rent their tools from home depot and charge you $300 for something you coulda done for $24 and 20 minutes of your time
Learn the rigth way then!!🤔!!😎👍🍺
Why do you demote using a snake in a video talking about using one? Most of us are here for last resort.
I was trying to figure that out as well 🤌🏿
This might help some but I would guess 96 out of 100 kitchen sink clogs are not in the trap. Also by going through the basket like that if you do get ahold of whatever's clogged your sink your snake is going to get stuck when you try to bring it back.
That's probably why the presenter doesn't recommend using this strategy.
Hi Paesano, thank you! The snake I have doesn't have a larger spiral end on it, as you demonstrated. Is there a better technique for this kind of snake? Drain is still clogged. Thank you!
The end outlet waste looks like its running uphill just a bit. That will cause a clog over time as well
1:58 do you think is ok to make that hole bigger so the snake fit easily? I think it's gonna rust cause stainless steel or chrome will be removed
I put it down one of the side drain's and not the center one like you did, and I am having trouble getting it out. Please help!
Dawn dish soap and a clamp and rotate forwards then backwards to reverse keep gentle back pressure on it so you retreat the wire slowly
What is a P trap? I cant find one in Australia but we do have S bends and even ogee's
1:41 how to use snake
Your supposed to take the trap off to go into it straight, specially with a double sink. You didnt explain how to use a snake correctly, or really at all. Thanks for nothing.
For everyone, here's a good link to an actual video that demonstrates how to use a sink snake. ruclips.net/video/mlM1kuECosQ/видео.html
Spot on pal, he's no plumber
Your spelling is atrocious
He didn’t explain it correctly and not at all because he said in the video that he doesn’t recommend using snakes
That is the lazy way to snake a drain
Don't remove any plumbing & just drop the auger down the sink
That is what I was searching for on RUclips cause I'm a lazy SOB 🤣🤭
Guess I should just do it the right way 🤔😬
My auger is stuck in my drain faucet lol. i tried turning anti clockwise but no luck
It's not even 3am why am I watching this
It beats zit popping videos !!
More than half of the video is why not to use it. The next 10 percent is the rationale. Nowhere did he demo how to use the snake.
clean-Hands
Thank you... going to take the bathroom sink apart, snake isn't working, & won't use chemicals.
the clogs usually at the basement, not here. If it is here, why don't open the p -trap which is much more easier than the snake. This video is misleading
Never insert a snake through the cheap plastic pipe and fittings below your sink. Remove all that piping and insert snake directly into the wall into the pvc piping that's in the framing of the home.
He opened with the best practice, nulls the rest of the video.
Remove the trap and clear it out. If needed, snake it from the open pipes
i am dealing with a clogged kitchen drain right now. some dumbass put 1 1/2 schedule 40 pvc where the s trap should have been. not only that, he put a clean out above that. think double bowl sink with dual s traps that then go into a double wye secured using trap adapter. the clean out is halfway to the kitchen sink (9"bowls). with the disposal on the right hand side and the monstrosity of thin wall feeding into the other arm of the double wye there is no way to get above the clean out for snaking. i would have to remove the kitchen sink to do so. annnddd...this gets richer....evidently, either my late grandpa or one of our relatives used duck tape to seal every freaking joint along the thin wall piping!
i would love to just rip this abomination to plumbing out and do it right. but, my older brother (who thinks he knows best) doesn't want to. i tell him i know how to do it....oh now, if i do it then he gets mad.....brothers....anyway....
oh...and whoever did the sch 40 pvc didn't leave very much of stub out room between the floor and the double wye. so it may be hairy to cut and do it right. i figure as long as i have enough room for even a neoprene (nibco) fitting i can convert it.
i agree with the clog being a lot farther down the waste pipe.
I'm a professional and I have never experienced a stoppage in the p-trap
Why is a professional watching this video?
They're professionals on Craigslist...
He’s not
Haha! To see if they should still keep their Day Jobs!
left eye vampusing, and the rest is well
Your clog is not going to be in the p trap. Sure it could use some cleaning once you take the trap off and trap arm like you should when cabling the kitchen line. They should take down videos like these.
WTF the snake they have are too thick to get inside the sink. Like wtf
I'm not seeing how to work the snake,is this click bait?
my HF $15 snake head is stucki in that little hole cant back it ou.
Ok the guy is wrong. Pull the pipe closest to the wall. Or remove the clean out cap.then run the snake. . Now if vinegar or baking soda can open your clog then you don't have a clog
This video didnt really explain or show anything.
looks a little like Randy Orton
Si men
Thanks for posting the video but this guy is so good looking i didn't take any information in!
Lol
Lol. Are you sure this guy is a plumber? Man you dont even need to be a certified plumber to know this is just wrong lol. Who would snake there. 90% of time is below the p trap. If lucky it get clogs there but usually it dont.
Hi 7
The sinks are full of freaking gross water
Man I'm a pro. Plumber this is 110% wrong
I looked up how to use the snake yet you keep saying don't use it smh like just show me
This did not help at all 🤦🏼♂️
Why on earth would you do a video discouraging the use of a snake drain on a ‘how to use a snake drain’ video?🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️
Not a very good demonstration of using the snake in a practical setting.
Anyone notice this guy sounds like Christopher Walken?
How about when you’re using a big boy snake
Not informative at all
Gets to the point at 1:34 ur welcome
this guy is so shady!
Sorry but I would break the sink drain down from trap to wall and and just look in the trap and then snake drain in the wall 🤷🏿♂️..
Literally useless
