if we are alone in the universe then why are we alone and what makes us so special and separate from any other possible races that could have been. is there some filter that when a race reaches a certain stage of development that causes them to die out, the theory of entropy for example. what if the reason we are alive as a race is because we passed a filter of existence. then if we are the only living organisms in the universe then why, what makes us so special. but anyway if we don't kill ourselves then entropy will.

The Borg Queen watered them down.
She was necessary for the movie - they needed a villain with a "human" face.
But her presence turned Borg from a decentralized, mechanistic, ruthlessly inhuman collective of powerfully intelligent automatons into a vulnerable and dependant collection of mindless parts.
She could be proud, arrogant, greedy, territorial, envious, angry, hateful, sated, sublime - she had a psychology which could be predicted and which could be manipulated - and all her drones would malfunction or crash when their link to this one critical center was interrupted.

The Alien-mythos xenomorphs come closest, but they use their captives as egg fodder which kills the victim. The Borg don't want to kill anyone, they want far more than that.

As much of a disaster Worf 359 was for Starfleet, it was this defeat that ultimately saved the Federation. Decades of peace had their fleet readiness being sorely lacking, and this massacre was the swift kick in the ass the Federation needed to get their stuff together.
They immediately began a series of newer, more powerful ships that were almost exclusively built for war. So by the time the Dominion invaded the Alpha Quadrant, StarFleet had the kind of ships they needed to combat this foe.

Wow awesome video! I never thought the Borg would use so many clever tactics. I always just saw them as a big battering ram and they’d just pick off attacking ships like a dog scratching at a flea.
You’re right about Starfleet’s crappy attack plan, sending waves of ships in. That’s why I’m glad they adopted the swarm formation at the Battle of Sector 001. They still took heavy losses, but were at least making headway in damaging the Cube and were still fighting hours later, not just a laughable 10 minutes.
Wasn’t the Oberth-class USS Bonestell at Wolf 359? Its usually said to be the ship we see explode outside of the room where Jennifer Sisko died in “Emissary”.

He narrated this not only like a horror book... it IS a "book", not a horror book but a complete adaption of the intro of "The War of the Worlds" (Music adaption by Jeff Wayne, Original book by H.G. Wells). The beginning of Jeff Wayne's music version is nearly identical. In the English Version Richard Burton is the narrator and main protagonist, in the German Version it is Curd Jürgens. A very great audio drama with also great music.
First published in 1898 as a science fiction book, CBS broadcasted it on October, 30th 1938; the evening before Halloween. The radio broadcast was so realistic, that great parts of the population in the region freaked out because they believed that there was an invasion from Mars. Most came late from work and missed the beginning where CBS said that they will hear a radio story. The impact and psychological influence was so extreme, that many listeners became traumatized so CBS and H.G. Wells have to apologize in an official radio broadcast.
