Another superb video Dustin. I am really pleased that you include the Photoshop work in your videos. I will watch this one again to pick up on the Color Selection work (darkening the black label. That's new to me. So lots more of PhotoShop inclusion please. You make it look SOooo easy. Thanks.
you never miss a beat in your tutorials! I appreciate how you breeze through teaching without missing any information. Also, a little side tether is pretty helpful 😁 thanks for sharing!!
Amazing as always ! A quick tip: you can get a flashlight app that's got a colorwheel mode, and change the screen color ! I really like the side tethering, i prefer it to the full screen. Waiting for the facebook lives !
bruno rbs That's a great idea! I also used some patterned images to create some texture in the light spread. I appreciate the side tether feedback, definitely going to implement it soon!
Prior to Photoshop, us old guys had to do all the post-production work in camera, using lights, reflectors, scrims, cutters and light painting. Pretty easy now.
Great idea, and excellent explanation to get everyone trying and thinking. A very inspiring video to show what can be achieved with minimal gear but using enthusiasm and talent.
You´re a Goat! i´m more into fashion photography so I don´t have to shoot product but I appreciate this kind of videos. You´re a master on your area! You have gain a new sub.
I am glad I discovered your channel, I enjoy watching your videos. Your work flow is great and easy to follow and there are some really great tips and tricks. I could listen to you all day lol! Keep up the good work
You kind a look like a mix of Stan Wawrinka and Marty McFly haha. But yeah, this is just incredible, I can't believe my eyes. Can't wait to try it out myself.
Really love your videos. Very inspiring. Would be great if you could do the coming live videos on RUclips and not over at Facebook. Many people don’t like Facebook these days. So am I. No account there. Thanks for your work. Great stuff.
I've been loving your videos and this one is no exception! Very well done. I'd like to make a suggestion. I'd love to see you make a video showing how you build up the lighting on a product from start to finish. Then a second video showing a detailed live post-production session of the product from the first video. Lots of work I realize, but I think with certain products it would be great to follow along as you import into PS and then watch layer by layer. Something to consider....please keep up the great work, it is much appreciated!
Love your stuff, great tutorials and very useful. I think the side tether is really useful since your brain takes a couple seconds when switching between the fullscreen photo / video. Whereas you dont have that issue when they are side by side. Keep it up, learning lots from these.
I love your tutorials! I've watched them all. Is it possible to make a tutorial of how you'd photograph a non-reflective, non-transparent product? How would you create an energetic or moody image with that kind of product?
Hey Angelica, that's a great question. Thanks for your kind words, I'm going to try and shoot more matte tutorials in the future. It is a great challenge to spice-up these different materials. Have a nice day.
Another awesome video! :) Thanks! In terms of tethering, I think the side tethering works well with products that are tall (like bottles). You shoot a lot of tall products so I think it will work great in the future. When needing to show a wider shot like you did with the light painting backgrounds, full screen works :D
Thank you! Cheers! It is black acrylic. We are going to sell it soon on our shop, sign up here to get notified: www.subscribepage.com/workphlotable thanks eh!
Really starting to love product photography and got a ton of stuff from your video. I got a bit tripped up at your technique to maintain black point when importing. I’ll try to watch again on a bigger screen but any words as to “...selecting ...black “node” ...” (?) would be appreciated. Thanks so much!!!
Hello! Thanks for your question, I can see why you got tripped up there. I shoot my images in RAW format, and when I import them into Photoshop I am presented with the Camera Raw interface. By holding Alt (pc) or Option (mac) and clicking the adjustment dial or "node" on the "Blacks" option, the program shows me which pixels are truly 100% dark. By dragging the node downward you can ensure a perimeter of crushed black so there is no dark grey bleeding through. Hope this helped!
That sounds fun! A lot of splash shots are going on in our Facebook Group: facebook.com/groups/workphlo -- and one of our next tutorials features a natural light splash photography method. Stay tuned!
I came looking for something else, but glad I found you. You've got yourself a new subbie. However, I still must ask about what I am looking for. I am trying to figure out how to show metallic and duo chromatic eyeshadow palettes. I have tried several kinds of lighting and I cannot seem to get all the sparkles, colors and tonalities just as I see in person. Any tips would help, a tutorial even better!
I've just subscribed to the channel. You've got great videos with a lot of useful tips. The audio levels are a bit low though. Can you turn it up a little?
Dustin...great work. Love your channel. I'm trying to 'up my game' in Photoshop. I started an online course, but I'm not sure the instructor is getting it done for me. I won't mention the course, but do you have a recommendation for an online Photoshop course/tutorial? Thanks so much...keep up the good work.

You should have achieved this without Photoshop. The flash and the 2nd curtain flash sync function are used for this purpose.
The best channel for product photography.

Nice work. Great tutorial! Would love to see blending modes in more detail.
Thank-you so much! More blending modes will be exploited in upcoming photoshop lessons!

I've just subscribed to the channel. You've got great videos with a lot of useful tips. The audio levels are a bit low though. Can you turn it up a little?
Thank you Shahrear. I think I have corrected this in our latest two episodes, should be crisp and loud! Thanks for subscribing.
I prefer the full screen!
Dustin...great work. Love your channel. I'm trying to 'up my game' in Photoshop. I started an online course, but I'm not sure the instructor is getting it done for me. Matt Anthony Hey Matt, I don't other than our Photoshop playlist on our channel! It's a great skill to improve, Thanks for watching and best of luck.
creative! what is that thing that you put under the bottle?
It is a 1/4-20 support plate, best item. workphlo.shop/collections/frontpage/products/steel-support-plate
This is a great little tutorial, one thing, PLEASE straighten those verticals, your final image is close to straight. Keep up the videos Dustin!
You caught me Keith! Thanks for the heads up, please do come back next video (-:
Haha, will do!
Hi i am great follower of your videos and i want to know how you are using the light stand for holding the plexiglass?
Thanks for being a great follower! It is a piece of metal, with a nut welded to it. Search for a "wall plate" for a similar solution!
workphlo thank u i have got one
Awesome as always. Thank you so much for putting your videos together
Thanks a ton Evan, I really enjoy the process from beginning to upload!
great
What are you using to hold the plexiglass. Can you provide a link or just what it's called so I can search for it? Thanks.
Hi there, we made a video about it on our channel
How would you do the same technique with an image that needs to be focus stacked?
Simply make the focus stacked bottle, and with lighten mode do the same approach to the bg as I did in the video.
How do you attach the plexi glass surface to the light stand?
