Fifth gear are normally great with facts but one thing that got to me, the TX1 was introduced in 1997, the TX4 was introduced in 2006. Just to rectify their small problem. Otherwise, a great video.

The first moment i noticed this new LC on the streets up the West End i thought how wonderful it looked. It stood out instantly to me and i was thinking, wow, it looks like a Rolls or a Bentley 😀. I cant wait to b in the back of one i thought. Now fast forward several months and ive been in 3 and absolutely loved it. Ive been in 2 coming back from kings cross station and one of those was a gorgeous racing green, it suited the new cab the colour so much. On both occasions at KX in the cab queue cabs came and went and we shuffled along with our bags and i really wanted the new cab. On both occasions i was i think very lucky the new cab fell my way 😀👍. On another occasion i was walking out of a restaurant with my girlfriend we was up in town to celebrate her birthday and we was staying at the shard hotel my treat to her for being such a wonderful person. The restaurant was in knightsbridge and im sure u know the shard is a good journey from there. Anyway, a new cab was parked up so in we jumped 😀. Oh btw. On one occasion coming back from KX i got chatting to the driver and he was telling me bout the new cab and how it works, charging wise, very interesting. To sum up, great gorgeous Cab. 👍

I’ll be honest I was skeptical when I first heard about these new London electric cabs. But seeing how beautifully designed they look. I had an immediate change of heart. Nice to see they kept the iconic look to it. 😊 Unlike the so-called New Routemaster bus. I mean no disrespect to the people who like them but the exterior design is god awful. And lack of conductors too? It certainly has no right to be called a routemaster!!! 😠

edy dj The new routemaster(Boris bus)? Yes they are very ugly, well the front exterior is anyway. And the current lack of conductors and hop on hop off just doesn’t give it the title of routemaster anymore. Like I said no disrespect to the people who do like them. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But I just personally think they lack the authenticity of the older ones.

Exactly. Sadiq Khan is trying to make it harder for low income londoners to drive in central London and in 2021 the whole city with ULEZ. He wants private hire cabs to drive 0 emission cars and the original black cab is exempt from the ULEZ charge which is rediculous as you know how polluting it is. And what about a prius? I like it but 60k thats a lot of 10 pound fares thats 6000 average fares . Thats nearly 10 fares a day for 2 whole years . But thats not including overheads. Bring back the horse and carriage. I’ve only got one gripe bout the new cab but it’s a small gripe. There is no centre arm rest in the back, really disappointing that 🤔😢. I’m sorry but points lost on that basis 👎. Apart from that though the cab is still gorgeous and I very much look forward to riding in it many many many times in the future . Maybe hopefully they will put a centre arm rest in the back. Personally myself I liked getting in the old cabs and pulling down the arm rest to rest my arm on. I really can’t get why there’s no arm rest for passengers in this gorgeous looking new cab, it’s just crazy me thinks 🙄😂🙁. Maybe there is a very good reason why there isn’t and maybe someone on here to tell me the reason please ?.

Electric is not the solution. Yes it helps direct pollution in congested cities like london, but Electricity is mostly generated from Fossil Fuels and will never be able to be fully or even mostly produced from renewable sources to an amount that we will require.

Hydrogen fuel sucks too. It leaks away, it's expensive, it still produces a greenhouse gas called steam, it uses a lot of platinum in the fuel cell and hydrogen explosions can occur. The US hydrogen vehicle market has completely plummeted after two hydrogen explosion in one week happened over there. Toyota has to pay dealers $25k USD to get rid of their Mirai hydrogen cars.
However, there's a good alternative to hydrogen fuel and Li-ion: The flow-cell battery. Current infrastructure can be used with minor tweaks to it, it isn't flammable and the same liquid can be reused time after time. Indeed there's a heavy metal risk to the environment, but elektrolyte or fossil fuel are destructive to the environment as well.

So, when the British piss off the Chinese enough, how long do you think it will take china to stop sending spares to Britain for this VASTLY overpriced vehicle!
The CHINESE own this, so if that’s what china is charging, I just can’t help wondering how much it would cost in Britain!!??

Why do they have to pay for their own taxis? Are they not employed by the city?

Is it the future? No it's not. Locally it's emissions free but the electricity is more dirty than using a car with three-way catalytic converter. Where are the ressources comming from. Yeah, not the future if you think about it.

50 miles on a full charge.
Then your dragging a 2 ton dead weight around.
Brake pads gives off toxic particles
    It's using petrol
After 5 years replace battery's more toxic waste
    And they call this green.
The only thing green is the mugs buying them.
