  • This special extended video shows what goes into the production of London's newest electric taxi. I was lucky enough to be invited to the LEVC production facility in Coventry to find out exactly what incredible technology goes into making this unique vehicle. I was also lucky enough to interview the CEO of the company Joerg Hofmann and enjoy expert walk through guidance of the facility by Product Manager Alistair Fairgrieve and Operations Director Mofid Elkemir.
Special thanks go to Georgie Moore @influenceassociates for all her hard work that went into setting up the shoot.
Sharon Bates from LEVC for making everything run seamlessly on the day of filming
And of course everyone at LEVC for all their hard work and expertise, I was made to feel extremely welcome.

Last I heard London cabs were made in China.
32:38 British technology at it’s best, “a bit of string”. Even more brilliant.

The Shuttle could be the basis for a SUV, sliding rear doors and the rear VN5 doors. Which would mean that the rear seats could be moved forwards. The dividing screen removed and a passenger seat in the front. No doubt there will be a longer chassis van with the option of a campervan.

Mark quick question that you as an owner of one of these new taxi, around the 30th minute in the video you guys are looking at the accessibility of the vehicle, the door is wide open and you can see the door lock mechanism on the left side sticking out a bit, has that ever caught someone's leg or bag etc entering the cab?
A very minor thing I know but was just curious as I thought about it when watching the video

For those not aware of EV stats, 62 miles WLTP out of a 31 kWh battery is pathetic. A typical fully electric SUV gets about 330 miles WLTP out of a 67 kWh battery. Part of that could be explained by this thing having a face like a brick and being optimised for city driving, but still...

Since the driver is the only front passenger ,The LEVC should have used a drivers tip up seat for luggage storage, placed the driver in the centre ,in the front of vehicle , because electrics have no need of a central division to make room for a gearbox ,And produce one vehicle for world production , And a better balance vehicle all made in one factory ,no need for left hand and right hand drive🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🙉🙈🙊

The wheelchair assembly is a nightmare 10 seconds ? definitely not!
You must assemble the 4 studded strap studs on the floor and buckle fasteners first along with a harness suspended from the rear cabin ceiling fitting , Its a complete nonsense of a set up and with a wheelchair user facing forwards there is no head or back support that the TX4 has while the wheelchair is facing backwards Its a pity the video does not actually show the full wheelchair set up with a person in the chair . The assembly takes twice as long as the old TX4 and twice as long to revert back with all the added straps and buckles it could easily be improved for the driver and passenger in the wheelchair You have to go down on your hands and knees to tighten up the belts to secure the chair in place and while turning the chair forwards often the straps on the floor obstruct the manoeuvre of the chair into place

This Vehicle Like all the vehicles from, Mann & Overton are overpriced and not a lot of thought in the Design
This vehicle if your lucky Does 60 miles to the charge not hybrid which is self charging which makes more sense and unlike most Electric vehicles that Does 300 mile to the Charge you have always have to be under warranty in this Vehicle as the battery alone costs £20 .000 to replace the E Rad about £16.000 compared to Toyota prius which is about £25.000 and a superior vehicle
