Agreed!! !00% correct. I am a long time (50 years+) Caravan fan/follower and Richard Coughlan was always my go-to Canterbury Scene drummer. RIP, Richard - you are sorely missed!
Does it really refer to the band Camel? They were an underground live band at the time and got their first album release the year after. Also, there's a camel on the cover of Caravan first album, so I guess Pye was just fond of camels.
Just love Caravan. I've been listening to them since I was introduced to their music in the late '70's and they are one of my favorite UK prog rock bands. The way they change tempo is just mesmerizing.
PHIL MILLER'S BROTHER(FANTASTIC EL. PIANO), IS THE MOST UNDERRATED OF ALL!! RICHARD SINCLAIR, IS ONE OF THE GREATEST BASS PLAYERS IN HISTORY OF ROCK!!!!!
To say thank you for posting wouldn't be enough. This is a delight, I've got it on back-to-back play. Utterly inspirational. one of my favourite bands at their young peak, live, great sound...the sort of sound that made me take up the guitar in the first place, fresh as a daisy 5 or was it, oh no, it can't be, 50 years on...let's go back to this future everyone and start making music again rather than noise!
What a find! The most experimental incarnation of Caravan displaying the inventive and virtuosity of four talented musicians in high-quality video and audio. My favourite pre-Richardson line-up nearly equalling the sublime ‘Cunning Stunts’ ensemble.
Decades down the road I'm finding out that, like Genesis, I should probably mostly ignore the studio stuff and stick to live performances. Like this one.

Sinclair and Coughlan were one of the truly great rhythm sections in rock. Up there with Neil and Geddy, Bruford and Levin, John and JP and the Bouchard brothers from BOC.
Okay, let me see if I understand. They start playing Hatfield and the North's Rifferama while Pye has a Camel pin on his t-shirt. Is this peak Canterbury?

Thanks
Many thanx great stuff
*Miller only wrote It’s Coming Soon & Songs And Signs. Rest was Hastings Coughlan Sinclair
Sinclair on bass must be one of the greatest players of the era, with a fantastic voice to boot.
It looks like he has it plugged into a Marshall stack?
I keep saying this but it seems no one's listening!🤐
One of the greatest players of *any* era, and certainly one of my favourites.
i totally agree.
Later to further excel with Hatfield and the North, four fantastic musicians and 2 fine LP's!

What a drumming! Rip Richard Coughlan You shan't be forgotten!
Pye Hastings, the most underrated Guitar player in the whole prog story!
Schade das ich zu jung war
Eine der Haupteinflüsse.
Canterbury ❤❤❤
Sinclair is the real sound scene of Canterbury
Definitely not enough Caravan video out there - such a great band that flew under the radar here in the U. S.
Waterloo Lilly times....the most jazzy compositions with Steve Miller (RIP) on keys
Steve Miller isn't dead
The most underrated drummer in the history of Prog/Rock
May he rest in peace.
absolutely! I've been mentioning RC for years when this topic comes up. John Weathers would be a close second.

Vero, era bravissimo.
He was the last guy I look at to find the Whistler. Imagine the drummer play in the whistle. Magical!
Life-long Prog fan here. I never got exposed to them. Heard the Pink album two months ago. Listening to this in a hot bubble bath. Very Groovy.
Caravan 1972...50 years ago...48 years ago I became a fan
In the land of grey and pink ,flew my mind in the 70s .
Me too, I've been trying to find a live performance of Nine Feet Underground from 1971, but with no luck.
Pye rocking the camel button

Bass playing on this is incredible.
it is! Not sure though if Richard is playing fretless here?
The whole band is in top form here! "Nothing At All" became "Rifferama" when Hatfield and the North formed about six months after this concert :)
Caravan is amazing on stage! They were superb musicians. Love in tour eyes is there Best fucking song of this concert! I can not stop to listen!
Concordo
Crazy to suddenly find this.. wow!
What a mixture ! Rock, Blues, Jazz, Funk, Psychedelic, Prog , Classic in an organic original way! High musicianship ! Bravo ! 🙏
Bravi, bravissimi!!🎉🎉🎉

It's like a miracle to me to see Steve Miller play the piano! I can't thank you too much!
Love Caravan. They kept getting better and better by far.
😮it’s first time to see this lineup’s caravan! So cool!
Now that’s what you call muscular bass playing.

They're comparable to early Supertramp, only better! This is coming from a big Supertramp fan!
I love Caravan and supertramp
@@christianthomassen8420Me too. But Caravan are better!
one of the most interesting bands in the history of rock
This is fantastic. Thanks for sharing.
Love the sound of that Jazz Bass!!!
How about Pye Hastings and Richard Sinclair during The Love In Your Eye, wow!
Just found Waterloo Lilly at a antique shop. 10 bucks. Love it
amazing live from 1972
Nice clip of Caravan in their heyday. Thanks for posting this.
Joyful music! Happy always. ❤❤❤❤

Fantastic,!!!!!!!
Wonderful performance. One of the peaks of the band 👍

awesum to listen to again, thanks . my late older brother collected hundreds of albums, and Caravan was among his collection

Awesome, mesmerizing, groovy. CARAVAN forever
Definitely going to be listening to this band for a while
Embryonic version of Rifferrama later to be recorded by Hatfield. Very cool!
This blew my mind. Thanks.
Grazie, Bruno, Grande laboro. Brilliant!!!
thanks for the upload!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😍
This is absolutely brilliant. What an improvement and trebled the enjoyment. Thank you
Great stuff thanks. I think the opening minute of Nothing at All was used in a song on Hatfield and the North's first album.

Nice to see the Canterbury cohorts stretch out with wicked vim on the 14-minute-plus medley at the start.
Part of that is a Hatfield and the North tune!
I like Dave Sinclair and all, but I would have been content to have Caravan go on sounding like this...
Great work. Thank you for rescuing this.
incredible! thanks for all of the hard work
Excellent work ! THX very much !
Okay, let me see if I understand. They start playing Hatfield and the North's Rifferama while Pye has a Camel pin on his t-shirt. Is this peak Canterbury?
Sadly the camel pin was not a reference, as that band had yet to release their first album
Muito bom, Bruno!! Ficou du caralho!!! Grato por seu excelente trabalho!
Que venham outros trabalhos como esse. Só temos a agradecer!!
wow, I got a copy of this in its original form recently so I can see how much you improved it, outstanding!

Wonderful stuff. Added bonus, seeing Pye's white underwear as he had forgotten to zip up.

Amazing ! Thanks, keep on the good work.
16:45 I love how Coughlan uses a slide whistle for just 3 seconds, that's dedication. I'm guessing to time in the rest of the band.
Cant believe those people left at the start, offended by Pyes flies being undone!
