Would you pay $5 miilion for him? For 6 years? That's what is would take and that's what the Canucks would not do. Remember up to that point he had never been anything but a 3rd pairing defenseman that's why Canucks said, no thank you.

@@Davidlee-m8d highsight based armchair trading opinions are the bread and butter of the goofy side of the fan base. The GM and coach is never measuring up to their standards and calling for rebuilds every 2 seasons when a little hardship comes along and we don't dance all the way to the cup finals. It's no wonder why our media plays you reactionaries like a fiddle for clicks. Starting to wonder if Canadian fan bases overall are the biggest factor in the cup drought. Channels like Legos wouldn't exist in these markets without the demand for reactions and rumors so I guess I'm not surprised to run into you here.

It seemed to be a horrible mistake letting him go. He's unique. Even if he underwhelmed in the last years of the new deal, it could have bought time to allow good young players in. Look where the Canucks are at now. They beat the Oilers the other day. That was good, but lose tonight. Zadorov was a beast here. Miss 'em.

Zadorov is PANDERING here. Tryna say that the Canucks barn was louder than any other barn he’d been to in the league is cringe tbh. Love my team, but we’re not known for being particularly loud or passionate, esp compared to Flames, Oilers, and Habs fans. Unless we’re on a reg season tear or make the playoffs, most of the time you’d never even know we had a team. Disagree if you want, but Zadorov was just pandering to us here imo.

  • @TheHistoryofPropaganda

I notice Zadorov didn't say the media was great.
This latest Canuck drama seems to be more about Miller than Miller/Petey. When asked about their relationship Petey got visibly frustrated at having to answer the question. Almost as if he felt, as Boudreau stated last night on TSN, that the media had overblown the entire story. "Mountains out of mole hills" was the phrase Boudreau chose.
Now, Petey also came out and publicly declared his interest in staying in Vancouver - while JT Miller is still his teammate by the way. Nobody thought that was strange? Miller didn't publicly declare his interest in staying and took a leave of absence.
Now we all know Canadian NHL markets are a fishbowl, of which the media plays a significant role, and many point to Vancouver as the most aggressively microscopic. I can't help but think this is far less about Miller and Petey and more about Miller and the media. I'd bet Miller has had enough of people like Farhan specifically and just said, "I'm out." And I'd bet he has nothing bad to say about Petey or even the city itself.
So while the media will admit Canadian markets are more intense, and players often choose other places because of this extra intensity, in a moment like this, where we are all baffled at how two grown men can't get along,, maybe it isn't even about them, maybe it's about the media's disturbing habit of getting into the personal lives and relationships of the players just so they have content to peddle. Sports media ventures too often into TMZ territory. Participating in low frequency gossip, conjecture, and speculation. The lowest forms of communication. I personally would be OK seeing another three or four of the ever-dwindling number of reporters in Vancouver dismissed of their duties and sent packing starting with Farhan Lalji.

Sounds like fiction to me 11 points in 48 games for a $5, 000,000 defenseman. No thanks, he isn't worth anywhere near that but his playoff performance in Vancouver last year made him look better than he is. He plays like this every regular season, and the Canucks were not willing to over pay him that much. I loved how great he was in the playoffs, but alas he is just a real good rental.
