    UPDATE: as many of you predicted, the AIO configuration (with the pump/block at the top of the loop) was not a good one, and the pump failed after about 2 months of use. I documented the fix and a recommended replacement Air Cooler (the Noctua NH-L12S) in this follow-up video: ruclips.net/video/UatP7-mOOwI/видео.html

    Paul, lots of how to build a PC tutorials out there, but it was your 3-part video back in early 2019 that I depended on when I built my first PC last month. Really good, step-by-step, organised and systematic tutorial. Just the way I'm wired, logical step-by-step systematic organisation. Putting all the hardware together is simple and straightforward. But many tutorials don't detail the software setup after posting the system. Yours did. Thanks, fellow brother of the kingdom.

      I built a Phantex Evolve Shift Air with a Ryzen 3700x using a Noctua NHL12S cooler and an EVGA FTW3 GTX 1080 Ti .
      Thermals have always been relatively cool for how quiet it is. I think it really depends how you setup the fans (intake-exhaust), I have all fans bringing air into the case because of the mesh side panels. I think the highest CPU/ GPU temps I have seen are 80c under load, typically more like mid 70s, with it sitting at 30-45c under light use.
      I use it as a HTPC/ VR rig now, but it has a thousand hours of use as a dedicated VR setup in my dining room (my Dad really loved Arizona Sunshine, Super Hot & In Death). I can't imagine a better portable VR PC due to it's top IO and small footprint.

      That's a pretty big mini itx case, it's about 22.9 litres, my node 202 build is only 10.2 litres and has a 1080ti and 8700 system inside it, Dan cases have a 7.25 litre case and the very popular, (and water cooling capable), Ncase M1 is only 12.6 litres. This case doesn't even qualify as an Sff build as the cut off is 20 litres. It might look intimidating but it's actually, for me, much more fun to plan and build in a tiny case and you end up with something that can sit on your desk instead of under it making everything much more accessible.

    • @Baller42O
      @Baller42O 3 года назад

      @@Baller42O there are always smaller cards, usually from EVGA, they have 285 mm, 2.2 slot 3080's and 3090's and I can fit one of those into the node 202, it's not easy but it's satisfying. Size isn't always the major problem with sff cases, cooling is often a harder problem to solve and these larger itx cases are a lot easier for that.

      @@forexdissector9565 that's after days of rendering with a slight overclock, it doesn't get more stressful than that. Under a typical load cpu is like 60 something with gpu in the 70s

    You should have skipped tha AIO and instead just gone with air cooling for this one. Would have made assembling it so much easier.

    I have the first version and just got the mesh side panels (1 year after buying it). The RGB ram looks amazing. I wouldn’t only want a little bit of RGB and that looks like the best way to do it

    Nice job Paul! I’ve watched a few build videos in this now and not one of them looked easy or fun. I think NZXT wins for the sff category against Phanteks. Their build is so much easier and comes with everything so you don’t have to try and find an sfx power supply. Love watching you work though. Very entertaining.

    That placement of the AIO tubes gave me anxiety, lol. Mesh side panel is an EXCELLENT idea, they should make mid towers with those, too. Also, I noticed that the PSU fan wasn't moving. Still, I love this build.

    Be happy that you didn't build in the original evolv shift. I started with the original and just recently swapped it for the evolv shift 2, and nearly ALL my concerns were fixed in the evolv shift 2 (The only concern is the riser cable being 3.0 but I can't seem to find any 4.0 riser cables on the internet so I am just under the assumption that they don't exist)

    Those AIO tubes are driving my OCD crazy! Its a cool case if your into small builds...I personally prefer a case about the size of an O11 dynamic XL...I want room to do anything and everything!

  • @tetrygon8264

    Love this case! I will echo everyone here and say that is going to be a toasty CPU. Air is going to be trapped in that block/pump due to it being at the top of the loop. I don't think I would recommend an AIO in this build, especially since there should be enough air coming from the mesh to make this a good case for air cooling.

    Nice build Paul. I've been curious about using a case like this in the past but have been concerned about the placement of the pump of the AIO. Have you had issues with air getting trapped in the pump with it being the highest part of the AIO system?
