They can be "The Plumber" or "The cute clerk" and name them later. The only person to please is yourself, meaning don't worry about "marketability" or "genre." Totally cool that you're using Scrivener. Have fun, and don't let the deadline stress you out. Easy enough to say, but still, have fun.

Underwriters unite! I am attempting Nano as well. My biggest problem is that I have trouble fleshing out my stories. My brain is all "why use 3 words when 1 will work?" I think it's amazing that you started this channel and I can't wait to watch your journey. Happy writing😃

ooh i'm happy the algorithm showed me your video and i'm excited to follow along on your nano journey! this is my 3rd one and my first nano was so helpful in finally getting me to take my writing more seriously and actually dedicate the time for it. and when i learned to not self edit constantly, it unlocked my ability to write so much more than ever before. good luck! 🤩

@@briellewrites honestly, word sprints are what taught me to do that. I joined my local discord server and it was the competition aspect of the sprints that helped me so much. I was amazed when other people could write like 800 words in half an hour, so I kept pushing myself to get more words down, rather than sitting around thinking for 20 min and then writing 200 words in 10 min. Obviously tried to pay attention to plot & other story aspects to keep it consistent, but once I go over that hurdle I was golden ✨

I've been participating since 2013 (technically I've "won" 1 time but it was a mishmash of like 3-5 stories and a lot of rewriting so I don't personally count it). Don't get down on yourself if you don't get 50k in November, writing can be hard and life gets in the way, the most important thing to remember is to continue to have fun! Hello Brielle. I’m an old guy so I guess I’m supposed to be the anachronism from an ancient time (I’ve never fit into any neat and tidy box)- Enjoyed this and I look forward to your future efforts. Even though you wouldn't have been in film school the same time I was, you know that what's popular in film school does NOT translate to what an audience wants to see. I had to put up with dozens of guys who idolized Woody Allen and refused to accept any style other than Woody's style. Thank god that's over with. Sara Lubratt and Kris MF are my posse. Sara is on a draft 6 novel polish while also hiking several times a week. I think her secret is having so many plants in the house. You sing too? You're a double threat. Rock on. Honestly the golden hour is 10:30 on a Tuesday. That's when I have lunch and then knock back several thousand words if the ideas are there.
Y’all late night writers are built different!! My brain turns off by 11PM haha. And yes, I can agree that the film school bros are somewhat insufferable at times hahaha. Welcome to the channel!
