    Nice job. Mercury recommends this every 20 hours of use. Each screw is backed by a yellow crush water that should be replaced with each lube job. The water pump kit has these yellow crush washers. There is also a seal to the lower unit in the water pump kit that should be replaced whenever installing new water pump. I have a 2008 60 HP 4-stroke mercury..only problem I've had was needed to replace the starter after ten years.

    Please give me your advice? I change my gear oil see many air bubble inside the hose, turned out I forgot to add extension to the Pump. There is a lot of bubble inside the Gear container. So What I can I do now? wait over night so the bubble to release up and and out or redo all over again? Thanks

    • @clearwaterfishing
      @clearwaterfishing  3 года назад

      You probably don’t have to wait that long. Maybe a 3-4hours. If you need it done now you can drain it and start over.

    I read that Mercury recommends quicksilver premium 80w-90 for 75hp and below engines and quicksilver high performance 90w for engines above 75 hp. Ad never to mix the two. Have you ever heard this? I can’t imagine that they are much different than each other.

    • @clearwaterfishing
      @clearwaterfishing  2 года назад

      I never heard of this. I just put what they say to in the manual. I’m sure if you are in a pinch it will work just as good.

      You are correct. The 2 different gear oils are different colors as well. If you switch from one to the other drain completely first.

    I have a 2002 mercury 60 4 stroke I did the lower unit and it only took around 300 ml oil came out of both vents how much did yours take.I’m just use to my evinrude 50 it would almost take a liter

    • @clearwaterfishing
      @clearwaterfishing  4 года назад +2

      I am so sorry it took me so long to reply! I must have missed your comment. It does not take much oil to fill my lower unit. I bought a quart 2 years ago, and after 2 oil changes it is a little over half gone. That is about 300 mL per change. Hope this helps!

  • @TheMativ8
    @TheMativ8 4 года назад +1

    I have a mercury 60 HP Command Thrust that carries 710 ml of oil. When I drained the old oil out a smaller amount, maybe half. It is normal?

    • @clearwaterfishing
      @clearwaterfishing  4 года назад +1

      Was the oil milky in color? If so, your oil may have leaked out. I wouldn't expect it all to come out. That stuff is pretty thick and like to stick to the metal in your lower unit. If it isn't milky, I would call it normal. If you want to get more of it out, run the motor in gear for about 10 minutes to warm up the oil. Obviously you want to do that before you drain some oil out.

    • @TheMativ8
      @TheMativ8 4 года назад +1

      @@clearwaterfishing the oil was normal in color. Maybe I didn't let it drain enough. Thanks!

    • @davidwalker6438
      @davidwalker6438 3 года назад +1

      If the motors have the bigfoot lower unit, they will hold 710 ml. If not, they will hold 330 ml. Mercury has a specification for lubrication levels online.

    • @clearwaterfishing
      @clearwaterfishing  Год назад +1

      @@Tonymoss44 it is best practice to change both, but if it is in good shape I have run a couple of years on 1 seal. The risk is leaking and sucking in water.
