I learned on film and grew up around it. When I got into digital my photos always had blown out highlights (like the sky) I thought it was the camera. So I got a more expensive digital camera to find the same results. Two cameras later it finally got to me, what am I doing wrong? When I shot film I NEVER had this many compromises. I picked up my X700, put a roll of Kodak Ektar in it and took pictures. The results were so different it was enough to send me back to shooting film. Film has life with an organic feel to the pictures. Your scene is captured how YOU saw it, not the cameras sensor with its newest image processor. Long live film!

Amen brother
Jordan Awesome
Digital is garbage.
With film you have to meter for the shadows/mids. With digital you have to protect the highlights. Digital is not shit, you just have to know how it works.
Literally just found one of these in a thrift store AND purchased my first box of Portra this week. What a coincidence. Dope video!
Maybe it is only me, but a analog photography is much pleasing and looks like real photos - yes, they are. No matter which digital camera I had (expensive DSLR with top lenses) every digital photo looks sort of "chemical" on paper. Now I have simple Ricoh GR which match the best to analog photography. Although I am a big fan for digital photography, analog is more real in my eyes. Thank you Pablo for this.
get yourself the very first canon 5d, you'll be amazed. The pictures it creates is so film-like it's insane. The pictures straight out of camera are so good you barely have to do any editing.
I totally agree with you! I never thought I would say this before trying film, but digital photographs are "too perfect" to look natural.
film makes me so nostalgic, i smile everytime i see a film photo taken. magical
The Olympus Mju II has a very special place in my heart, because it was the camera that most of our family photos were taken with when I was a child. Unfortunately, we don't have it now but if I ever do get the chance, I would buy one just to relive the experience of taking photos with it and seeing how good the quality of pictures on it was. So I'd like to thank you for reminding me what the photos taken on the camera look like.
How I feel about the canon sure shots
the place that you live is the chillest place i’ve ever seems
Had this camera lying around the house since before I was born. It was my mums. I never discovered how amazing it is till now!
Your MJUii videos are quite delightful!
Jan Jeric ..
I love carrying an old 35mm compact, especially when I've got my huge bag for landscape photos, stick it in the front pocket, take some snaps then several months later get a surprise whats on the film.
Same here. I use my Canon Sure Shot Telemax at present (the only camera - other than digital - that I've actually owned from new). It's about halfway through a roll of expired (but cold-stored) Superia 100 at present.
I still have my Halina Vision, which I bought in the 1980s in perfect condition.
omgg i just found my mum’s camera in my room and after watching this video never made me more eager to go buy batteries and films !! love this video !!
Just found this at my house! Feeling excited to shoot anytime soon.
Thanks Pablo for another great visual escape! Felt like a really nice road trip in the beginning, followed by hanging out in the city. You have a great photographic eye and thanks for also including another wonderful street performer. This video felt like you incorporated all previous styles of your vlogging.. 😁 Excellent!
Those are some really great photos. I love that your dog poses for you too. So good!
after that video, i bought 35 mm Zoom camera. I am going to Prague and Berlin next month. I am gonna take photos with this machine and i am so happy. Thank you for this video! Regards from Turkey!
So beautiful, so chill. That's what I like.
SO GOOD VIDEO!!! THANK YOU FOR MAKING!
The colours of the film shots are just fantastic! And almost all your shots are keepers!!!!
I picked up the Mju II just yesterday. It was among a box full of photography stuff I bought from an auction house for 10 pounds. Lucky find
Awww, what a sweet dog :-)
Those photos from the beach look really great. I think this video convinced me to finally get a Mju II. I've been trying to find cheaper alternatives, but after trying a bunch I now think the Mju II is probably worth the extra money.
Incredible pictures, wow!
Had this camera 23 years ago when I was a student. Still kept some of the photos I took with it.
clicked on a random video, was not expecting to see Brighton and Arundel! Always nice to see photos of your home town.
Great job with the images, I always enjoy the photos you take and I'm glad you take us along during the process
Not the Mju but I just shot two rolls of cheap Fuji color film. It was all I could find. I was in Seattle yesterday walking the streets and shopping. Used the Olympus Accura 105 point and shoot. Was very fun to just point and shoot.
Great to see glimpses of London, really enjoyed seeing Savile Row in a recent film ,where my father worked as a master tailor. Could you possibly have a walk on Hampstead Heath, possibly with drone shots, which was my area of London so would be very nostalgic?. Thanks for your work which is much appreciated.
Great images, both in composition and choice of film. I’d demolish that little shed and then put a massive windowless one on with running water and electricity and several layers of insulation.
Put in 3 or 4 different enlargers, a selection of safe lights, a sink and hey presto...a darkroom! A very enjoyable video.
amazing photos, wow somehow they make me feel very calm
These are rad. I just picked up the Stylus Epic for $1 (Can) at a garage sale the other day. I’m absolutely pumped to shoot with it now.
These are amazing photos!! Love watching this and seeing all the nice places in England! 💓
Yes. To everything. I loved what I saw. Good luck with the crops!
Your videos are therapeutic to me! Thank you for making them.
This is so nice. Wow. Very calm and beautiful video
I really love your style of vlogging! Editing and music and color are 👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Heck of a flash for such a compact! Awesome video with beautiful photographs. Cheers!
I just found a mju II in my basement, and now i show up here on this nice lad. Amazing photographs :)
Lucky find!
i found it in a drawer, turns out its my dad’s. the camera is about 30yo so i hope it will work
omg at like 2:15 i was like "wait i swear that's arundel?"
love that place, love your photography too! gonna binge your videos now haha
the pictures look so good! i feel so inspired 💓
Not seen this little dude for a while, great to see it back 😁😀
It truly is the best 35mm point and shoot! Anyway Pablo I really do love your videos on film photography keep it up!!
I like your DIY solution to the RUclips music copyright hassle, excellent!
J E SPENCER ;)
Killer combo, I used the MJU 1 for many years.. Like your photos very much!
Great video mate, I finally picked up a mjuii in great condition for $70 after waiting 2 years and I’ve been snapping away loving it, I’m sure it will be my fav camera fairly soon.
This video is what i need. Thank you for sharing 😊
Love the shot of the Hayward gallery! I have an Olympus MJU II and it goes everywhere with me, its so versatile :)
Love the overcast weather
really nice episode. I just found my old Canon EOS 5, after i change battery i will use it again.
I’d like to see more information about the operation of the camera.
amazing photos! this made my evening.
Amazing video and amazing shots! Wow
Nice photos.
I was just in Arundel a couple of months ago. It's a beautiful place, you can get some really good shots around there. YOu should have cheked out the cathedral
NIce one mate, think ill pick one of these up.... THE HANDSWER IS BLOWING IN THE WIND
Wow these are beautiful!
Nice shoot, great colors, well done 👌
Well this is a good camera with a good lens, outside of the compact size it is far from the best 35mm film camera ever. Internet bloggers and RUclipsrs have caused the price of this camera to go up unreasonably High. I would never pay as much as these cameras get, is there are so many other options out there.
Joe Lopez name another top tier p&s then
thirty six nano seconds contax T2/3, Minolta TC-1
How often do you use flash in these images? Love the video!
Buenas fotos! He encontrado una cámara igual en casa me tocará probarla y comprobarlo por mi misma. Gracias
Brother, I want to know how to turn the pictures of this camera into the phone .
Do you need a special tool for the film to load in the camera?
Hey Pablo -- just catching up on your channel. What can you tell me about that specific camera? I haven't considered 35mm point-and-shoots as great cameras (love old, unknown rangefinders and classic prosumer SLRs) -- but the photos look great and you obviously like that camera. Also -- I saw in the mirror that you shoot some of your video on a Lumix G80 (I have the US version -- G85 -- and really like it) -- and your composition, focus and use of that camera are great -- can you post some tips? Thanks!!!
HELP!! My Olympus mju 105 AND my Olympus stylus zoom 140 both automatically rewind completely and don’t stop whirring until I either take out the film canister or the battery (mind you I got the Olympus stylus zoom 140 because I thought it was a malfunction of the mju 105 and it turned out to hOpen in both cameras) :(( I don’t want to waste film or two great cameras! And I’m sure I’m putting in the film correctly because I’ve followed many videos that explain how to insert film correctly, what could I be doing wrong. :(((((
I really enjoyed your video!! I was wondering how a film camera works, does it print like a polaroid or do you need to upload the photos to you computer?
There going for 100-120 on eBay is that price worth it or can I get something better
I love this camera!
hi! and after you develop them, what do you do? do you scan them to have them in your computer?
Is potra 400 a good choice for a bright sunny day using point n shoot camera?
Hey Pablo, I just have a question with this Point and shoot Camera! I recently got one as well as Kodak Portra 400 film. When you take the images outside do you still use flash? And does this change if it’s cloudy etc. thanks
Let it auto determine it and it should be find. Sometimes it will want to flash outside and that's okay. You can turn flash off when you find it unnecessary
yo dude!! great video!! cool if i snag a couple clips for my video about affordable 35mm cameras? ill be sure to credit you in the video + desc!
Another great video Pablo.. Do you scan your negatives at home?
Jano Laskor thanks! Nah just in the developers
While it's a great little camera, not having just a simple exposure compensation button kind of ruins it for me.
Simon Almers yes, that would be the cherry on top 🤔
Ever heard of DX-Code hacking?
where'd you get the film developed and scanned? Or did you do it yourself? Love the look!
I got Portra 400 (35mm) (120) & doesn’t fit... what did I buy wrong ? Help, thanks!
Hello! I have the same camera but not the same film. Is the color/filter of the photos because of the camera or film?
forget your stills camera, your video camera is fucking excellent! the whole video looks like an indie feature!
Niceeeee! really like the color
love this !
Is this Portra 400 film not too fine grained for the Olympus Mju II? I am a bit suprised with these photos!
Pablo, do you usually care about keeping auto flash off or you just shoot as it goes?
Try using expired film. Btw, love your videos! ❤️
Can you also set a time stamp with this camera?
Hi Pablo, great video! Would you recommend Kodak Portra over Kodak Colorplus, considering the higher price? I wonder with the doubled price justifies the better quality, colors and grain enough. Thanks!
Color Plus is surprisingly good, but Portra is better. (finer grain, more accurate colors, more latitude)
TimRex hi dude, yea I prefer the colours of portra :)
Pablo Strong thanks!
TimRex that said, it is ridiculously expensive so I only shoot it once in a while :)
Pablo Strong it is! Thanks a lot ;)
Hi Pablo, where can I buy this Olympus online? I'm Italian, I don't like ebay, what do you suggest?
how do you get those pictures to the computer?
develop film, scan photos
Is this meant to be green eyes by coldplay?
Hello Pablo,
I was lucky enough to find this camera reecntly.
I put new battery in the camera. but I didn't buy a new film for it.
When I slide the door of the cam.. the lens barrel moves front and back and the lcd display says... E
When I press shutter button, the barrel goes out to the front and stays there. Flash does not pop.
Is this normal operation? Does yours do the same thing????
Sounds about right. Try pressing the flash button on the back, press the shutter again and see if the flash activates properly. Normally, the flash is automatically set to go off every time the camera is turned on.
ohhh my dad have this camera
Are most of the outdoor photos without flash?
Have you tried this film/camera combo indoors like so so lighting conditions?
This combo without decent light is a no-go. Use Cinestill 800 film, hold the camera steady and don't forget to turn off the flash every single time you open the camera. Cinestill is expensive but if you want color you'll need a tungsten balanced film otherwise it will turn yellow. I would shoot a black and white film and push it to 1600. Ilford HP5 400 is a great film for pushing.
What type of batteries do u need for this type of camera unsure of what size?
CR123
Perhaps this is how Monty Don started out... x
where do you get your photos developed?
This camera now costs upwards of $250 on eBay. Pretty bummed that my dad gave away this great piece of tech for free
how did you converted your film photos to digital?
He scans the negatives
What’s the name of the song???
You think the Mju II is 'the best' 35mm film camera?
спасибо, это интересно
nice
Can't help but sing along to Green Eyes 😊
Hey I have one of these! Or rather, my wife Sarah has one. She just uploaded a video to my channel showing it off. She has the black one. Please ignore her when she says stuff about me kidnapping her and locking her in my film cooler. All lies! She's fine, not being forced to comment on all my sprocket hole photo videos at all. I'm not unhinged.
I don’t know y every time there is a fucking expensive p&s camera there are minimum 164 people saying: I thrifted for 3, 4,5 dollars eheheheshwis Jesus
Yes so go thirsting and you will find it or something of similar quality
