Hi everyone - It's come to my attention that there has been someone masquerading as myself, responding to some comments here with a link to a Telegram chat to win a prize from me. THIS IS A SCAM, I am not holding a contest, nor do I have a Telegram account. PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND TO THESE MESSAGES!! It's happening on a lot of my videos, I'm taking steps to remove them manually, but as I have 162 videos, it will take some time. If you do run across a suspicious comment, I would appreciate you letting me know at info@dronebotworkshop.com. Thanks! Bill (The real one!)
Another brilliant video Bill. The timing was amazing. You said “ I’ll make it full screen” as an advert came on. My first response was “Wow that’s good” 😂😂
That was an excellent demonstration and comparison. Thanks for taking the time for us. I always enjoy your videos because of the care you take with the accuracy of information you present. I'm interested in using these for an RV (4x4 vehicle + towed camper) for both security and manoeuvring functions. I plan to mount 6 or so fixed cameras around the rig. I'm hoping Wifi is sufficient to run the video streams to a head unit - one in the vehicle and a second in the camper. For manoeuvring, latency and frame rate are important. I wonder if any of these cameras can fulfil this objective? Perhaps its time to join the forum!
Thanks! Great video. I just got a Raspberry Pi Camera Module 3 and could not find any useful info on how to use it until I found this video. There is nothing included with the camera except a link to the Raspberry Pi site which is almost totally marketing related. No mention of the fact that Raspian OS Bullseye uses a completely different camera software from what is described in all the existing doc. There isn't even an option to enable the camera interface. Thanks to your video though it all makes sense now. BTW this camera, with the Raspbian OS Bullseye software IS continuous autofocus in video. Not sure if that is due to an update in the software or a difference between the Camera Module 3 and the Arducam autofocus camera. I suspect it is a software update though.
Field of view was changed dramatically between stills and videos. My guess is that video mode only use a small part of the sensor. Otherwise it's a no brainer to pick this autofocus camera instead of RPi's V1 or V2.And once again an excelent presentation, thank you.
Well done! I especially appreicated the detailed discussion of libcamera. I have a number of up and running old projects which have been fine tuned. I discovered that switching to Bullseye OS was going to be more effort than I bargained for. I did a quick search to purchase the autofocus camera and found it is still not available. This seems to be a common theme for new Raspberry Pi products.
Wonderful, detailed video as always. Just want to point out that you said libcamera "slash" still, etc, when I think you meant "dash". Might be confusing to some 🙃
I am interested in the cam as a robotics cam for computer vision. I will only use low res images so that the computer vision can process them fast. My main interest is in how much blurring there is when using a fast moving image. When you have a fast moving robot the images from the video stream become blurred. Do you know if the exposure time can be shortened especially for low res images??
Thanks for the excellent video! I'd love to see a point and shoot pi camera that uses other sensors than the camera to adjust zoom, shutter speed and white balance. I guess its just something I'll have to do myself :P
Thanks for the great overview. Just get camera, image quality is really good. The only sad that autofocus doesn’t work when use camera in the browser via webRTC. Maybe somebody knows how to fix this?
Have you tried recording the video using a raspberry pi program that has a loop of the "f" command on one line? That way the program should auto focus everytime the program loops; I'm guessing every few milli seconds.
I like and subscribed with this episode. It was one part of the Linux puzzle I needed explained, and gave me plenty I will research on my own. Thank you very much.🙂
Thank you, as always very interesting video and full of useful information, especially how to setup, make the installation, libraries .... i don't know where all these info is from 🥳 I will take that Autofocus Camera, and open a project, to make the autofocus function Thank you
Hello sir I actually have a doubt...... Pls clarify.... Is the nrf24l01 module with the inbuilt antenna faster than the nrf24l01 PA LNA module..... I wanted to take time of flight measurements so it needs to be really fast.... That's why I'm asking....pls help me with the answer...... By the way, excellent video (I actually asked this doubt even in the last video)..
hi, tried to record video but I'm not getting smooth recording, the video cuts and then continue, how did you get the continuous and smooth recording? have tried with the pi 4 model b 4gb and the zero 2 w
Interesting. :D Would there be more difference if the lighting was less ideal. And can you get a motorized focus lens for the HQ cam without braking the bank?
@Dronebotworkshop , please help me. I faced with issue for my "bookworm" os for PI5. Pi doesnot find my 3-th party camera. I have Pi5-IMX219 camera and connected it properly. I don't see "Camera" yes/no item in my preferences -> Raspbery PI configuration. Libcamera hello doesn't find a camera for me as well. Do I need to install some driver to my camera or smth like you did on a video for ardufocus camera. Please help me. I can not find information about it and a little disappointed in PI5 bookworm os.
The not having auto-focus is a deal breaker at this point. I'll wait for their V2! I bet it will be fixed then. Maybe this was done intentionally so that people would buy them both?!
The same happened to me, I am using buster OS legacy and installed the packages and enabled the legacy camera, but I get an error message saying "no cameras available". What did you do?
Hi i have tried various pi installations and each one throws up the same error when i enter libcamera-hello - libEGL warning: DRI2 failed to authenticate [0:01:50.670822602] [882] INFO Camera Camera_manager.cpp:293 libcamera v0.0.0 ERROR: *** no camera available, the arducam autofocus is attached - any ideas how to resolve this at all ?

Just wanted to thank you for what you do here on youtube. Your videos have been a valuable resource for many of my projects.
Thanks for the tutorial, this was a big help! For anyone experiencing some issues, I had to place "-n" at the end of each of the commands.
That was an excellent demonstration and comparison. Thanks for taking the time for us. I always enjoy your videos because of the care you take with the accuracy of information you present.

This is an excellent, well-researched, review. Thank you.

Thanks so much for this. It was super helpful and I can now start messing around with openCV with a camera that actually looks descent! Great Vid.

It was avaiable in kickstarter campaign for now.
I actually sent mine back. I got my money back, I’ll never get my time back.
Thanks for these videos DroneBot, exactly the info I needed to get me using this newer camera libraries. Cheers m8!
I really enjoy these presentations. Very, very educative. Thank you.
Very helpful and well organized! Thanks for the help!
Thank you for very interesting video on this camera. Ordered one straight away!
Wonderful, detailed video as always.
Just want to point out that you said libcamera "slash" still, etc, when I think you meant "dash". Might be confusing to some 🙃
Yes it did confuse me.
Very nice review. I have some unanswered questions: 1. Low light performance? 2. IR, built-in filter, is the filter removable?
As usual...another fine video... Thank You
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and time Bill,
Great tutorial as always.

Looks like I need to add this to my 3d printer thanks Bill for the video
Thanks for the great overview. Just get camera, image quality is really good. The only sad that autofocus doesn’t work when use camera in the browser via webRTC. Maybe somebody knows how to fix this?
Thank you. Very good as always. Is it easy to view the streaming output in a web browser instead of the VLC media player?

A very helpful video, thank you. BTW, RUclips does not automatically inform us nowadays which is irritating. Has been for some time now.
Have you clicked the bell ?
@@Insane_Kane Of course. Do you get e-mail notifications? I haven't for well over a year.

For the color test of stills, I thought the Hi-Q look much better than the Arducam.
Thank you, as always very interesting video and full of useful information, especially how to setup, make the installation, libraries .... i don't know where all these info is from 🥳
I will take that Autofocus Camera, and open a project, to make the autofocus function
Thank you
There are any solutions to stream video to a web page using libcamera library?
Is it possible to control the autofocus programmatically?

wich one is better Arducam IMX519 16MP or 12MP IMX708?
sr but Is it active with Orange Pi 3 ? Thank sir.
excellent, as usual 👌🏻🥰
First like! Now let’s focus!
XD lcd relax and learn
How is the focus for objects 30-100 feet away ?
You only seem to test at under 5 feet to object
hi, tried to record video but I'm not getting smooth recording, the video cuts and then continue, how did you get the continuous and smooth recording? have tried with the pi 4 model b 4gb and the zero 2 w
Good day. I make neon led signs, and I would like to make one like Pory´s from the 80´s movie. Can you help me with that?
Interesting. :D
Would there be more difference if the lighting was less ideal.
And can you get a motorized focus lens for the HQ cam without braking the bank?
I diyed an auofocus for the hq cam using a 28byj-48 stepper motor and a short gt2 belt, connected via GPIO, so like 3$.
I set up the camera just like in the video using a RBP 4B 2GB and I'm getting very low framerates. Why might that be?

Awesome 👌 👏 👍 😍 💖
I have the V2 in NOIR and regular. It's the camera because mine does the same thing with white.
What SD card are you using on your Pi in this video?
Aug 2023 - did this Kickstarter succeed and did it eventually get recording with active autofocus without user interaction?
How much in Canadian Dollars?
Muito bom, estou pensando em comprar um raspbery. Abraços.
anyone else getting illegal operation on git clone for manual focus driver ?
Hi everyone, does enybody knows how to open/convert raw file saved from this camera?
Now if only the supply chain shortages would end so we could get Pi at a reasonable price

Maybe this was done intentionally so that people would buy them both?!
21:18 mispronunciation of the word "nonetheless," but that was a hard word for you since it was longer than two syllables.
❤️❤️❤️
My camera was working perfectly until I followed your instructions. Hours of added work have piled on.
The same happened to me, I am using buster OS legacy and installed the packages and enabled the legacy camera, but I get an error message saying "no cameras available". What did you do?
@@heshamhegazy4264 I reinstalled clean with bullseye. And then avoided this video. Works fine. I can help you in depth tomorrow just remind me
First!
Way too mocht commercial
can't support picamera2, it is useless toy.
suggest buy pi camera modular v3
thumbs down for mispronouncing the words "et cetera" numerous times. 👎please never say "etc." ever again.
