I think you made the right choice with sandblasting it. Takes it to bare metal without nasty chemicals or redidue. Its almist addicting like pressure washing once you start you want to do all surfaces. I don't miss the cold and snow Im originally from Erie Pennsylvania but moved to Florida in 1986 and love it here I will take the heat to the cold any day.
