Jaime Pe I never said I didn't understand his point of view, he explained himself. He worries about people that misunderstand feminism, that believe that males can't be feminist. He's got money on the line, I do not, so those people don't bother me. They can boycott my non-existent books if they wish.
I always think of dudes that call themselves male feminists as thirsty dudes that try to feel superior to other men and just call themselves feminists to get pussy
+Erik l American feminists seem to be very close to current green energy activists. Both go with the hottest trends to thrive their own agenda. Consistent logic or work has nothing to do with it.
Lidi Silva Why they are roughly the only two decent people in that world. Both are Targaryens if the theory is true and Jon marrying he would give him the validity of the throne.
Lidi Silva Except if he dies and is revived he is no longer bound by his oath to the Nightwatch, it is an oath to the death, upon death his oath is fulfilled.
Raptor Jesus By who? Anyone who could confirm this is dead. How will GRRM reveal this if it's true? Jon doesn't even have the white hair of a Targaryen.
Phuck Ewe Bran may be able to see it in av vision in the next book. It is said that people with greensight can see through the eyes of veirwoods. Lyanna and Raegar visited a veirwood and something happaned there that we don't know. Maybe they got married there, or made Jon.
+Diego Golo I think its just to pull in viewers, say I type in "Game of Thrones" in RUclips I may find this video. Another point is that after watching a Game of Thrones related video. RUclipss algorithms may recommend me this video because Game of Thrones is in the title. Sky's way of pulling in viewers I guess.
Imagine if it were Harry Potter, they would 100% put J.K Rowling, they would not put "the author of Harry Potter". Idk, it might be stupid but it bothers me
A man I greatly respect in the fiction / fantasy realm. Gary Gygax, David Gemmel etc. It is said that he wrote some of the episodes for the 1990s version of The Twighlight Zone - I remember those .. he's come a long way since then !
Attack on Titan in the beginning everyone could die nobody was safe, but that all changed as an exempel he was going to kill the potato girl but did not since the fans loved her he wanted a dark and brutal ending to the series with the titans killing all humans. but he changed his vision for the ending when the show became popular
Yup, i stopped reading the manga for a while now. I'm waiting for the 3rd season of anime to finish then maybe if i still like it, i will continue to read it. But what he did, killed my interest for the story
And thats why grimma stabbed Saruman after he told frodo that grimma has eaten some other hobbit and it ended by archers killing grimma who was trying to run away. That or any other battle in lotr, hobbit, unfinished tales or silmarillion. His books are full of violence. Not saying that i dont like them. Btw Yeah i read the books ;)
He seems like such an excellent person to interview! Not just because he's George RR martin but he's gracious and open and honest with his answers and in no way pretentious! Wow what a guy
+Sivert Snefjellå He's an easy "go to" for comparing GOT to other books, it depends on the questions he receives, its like the media thinks GOT is a new genre, but he likes to give credit to Tolkien, as rightly due.
Of course he's going to mention Tolkien. Tolkien is a huge inspiration of George's. He also always talks about Tolkien because he is constantly asked about Tolkien. I swear to God, in 9/10 of his interviews he's asked the same goddamn things.
I've never seen a game in my life that has a story and characters of this caliber. On the bio ware note... Kotor was great, me1 was also a great story (they kept getting more actiony after that) the dragon age series is quite intense and is chock full of lore and other goodies, even books have been published for it. Despite that's it's nowhere near as intense as GRRM stories are, they're still great stories
I wish Martin could understand that when we guess his plots and then read those plots....we feel awesome and connected to another person who thinks along the same lines. He should love that we guess whats happening....no one elses books are arousing such passion and creativity.
love that guy. and I found the answer I was looking for.. he thought about changing stuff cuz ppl found out about his plots and plans but he didn't. And now he totally ignores us so he doesn't have that feeling anymore and thank the heavens for that cuz 100% he would soo change John Snow's theory about his mom if he found out that ppl know his secrets :v
jaime ruiz Exactly, If writers listen to everybody and try to please everybody, then their story would just be a mess. They should just write whatever they feel like writing and not limit themselves
Tony Bjornson Oh no! Please... I wasn't being serious. I was being sarcastic and making reference to what everyone's opinion is on how awesome the world he created is. Obviously it would be great if he could just pump out story 24/7, but the man can do whatever he pleases!
J R R Tolkien - The Hobbit & Lord of the Rings George Lucas - Star Wars Gene Roddenberry - StarTrek J K Rowling - Harry Potter George R R Martin - Game of Thrones In my opinion these are the best of all time. Not all did books but some did series or films.
He totally gets what it is to be a strong woman who gets constantly doubted by males all the time. I can very much relate with Brienne and Arya. He can totally be a feminist in my book (because he sure is in his!)
Love how true George is to his books. Even if it is fantasy and a fake world that he himself writes about, he refuses to ever jeopardize the integrity and authenticity of his stories.
I think all the theories the fans got right have already been proven in the third--> fifth book to be true. I would love to know what these theories were though, is there any way for me to see some of the original fan theories?
I still think one of the greatest things about these books and show is how I have no clue of what is coming... Ive always wanted that feeling of not knowng.
"When will we see the new book?"

Luis Eduardo Rodrigues No, im talking about most democratic countries.
He's nice? Maybe when he's talking to people, but not when he's writing.
George RR Martin killed off his hat.
"The suspenders send their regards" muttered the hands as they dropped the black hat, king of the head into the trashbin.
And now his watch has ended.
And now his hat has ended.
Petter Söderberg The Head remembers.
Ryan Denziloe The head never forgets.
I sometimes wonder if fans inadvertently give George ideas he hadn't previously thought of.
He says it doeant
i don't think so, no fans would even inadvertently give any ideas about killing Jon Snow and all the other Starks, its all cooked up in his mind
GreyG We don't know if Jon Snow is dead yet. In the books that's where it leaves him bleeding on the ground. *cough* Ser Berric Dondarrion *cough*
Aaron Kalat He has stated that he doesnt read many fan theories, and that he wont change the story to those ideas no matter how good

GRRM should do a cameo in Game of Thrones, he would make a good Wyman Manderly. That or he could just play Hodors dad in a Bran flashback.
I could be wrong but I believe that Hodor is a Snow and never knew his dad
He is a cameo in the Dothraki Wedding scene. Hes the very first one who leaves a tribute in front of Drogo and Dany.
He was going to be in the Red Wedding getting stabbed, but he was either busy or injured at the time they shot the scene if I remember right.
I think Samwell Tarly is actually George and the story will end up being Maester Samwell finishing a book of the history.
OH NO, NOT THE SAMWELL GAMGEE ENDING. It's going to be LOTR all over again.
I'm a male feminist and I'm not worried if people disagree. Your actions are what matter.
Don't gotta be a dick to make a point.
Jaime Pe I never said I didn't understand his point of view, he explained himself. He worries about people that misunderstand feminism, that believe that males can't be feminist. He's got money on the line, I do not, so those people don't bother me. They can boycott my non-existent books if they wish.
Humanize them, bro! Nothing bad comes from it.
***** Anybody whom believes in equality is a feminist.
I always think of dudes that call themselves male feminists as thirsty dudes that try to feel superior to other men and just call themselves feminists to get pussy
6:20 wait, this is a part of a fictional story, right? Do they also accuse half of all television series and movies ever made to normalize murder?
Good point
+Erik l
Perfect point.
+Erik l American feminists seem to be very close to current green energy activists. Both go with the hottest trends to thrive their own agenda. Consistent logic or work has nothing to do with it.
+Erik l Exactly, in this society nothing can be shown on TV without sheer scrutiny.
I know, it makes me angry sometimes.
WHAT IS HE DOING GIVING INTERVIEWS! HE SHOULD BE WRITING THE NEXT BOOK!
Skwisgar2322 lol
Skwisgar2322 HAhahaha!
Joshua Mohr It was a joke. He can do whatever he wants.
Skwisgar2322 *Beuk
Skwisgar2322 I heard they are not letting him go to Comic Con or any other event. He's going to focus on his books.
"When it's done." LOL!
And I'll be waiting untill it's done, my gravedigger.
Hodors Dad
Dunk
Old nan is his mother. Roanne Webber.
INDUBITABLY
I hope Daenerys and Jon don't end up together.
Lidi Silva Why they are roughly the only two decent people in that world. Both are Targaryens if the theory is true and Jon marrying he would give him the validity of the throne.
But because Jon is so honourable, I think if that was what was going to happen, he'd stay in the night's watch.
Lidi Silva
Except if he dies and is revived he is no longer bound by his oath to the Nightwatch, it is an oath to the death, upon death his oath is fulfilled.
F*ck.
TheCinemaJudge but he had cave sex with ygritte O_o
R+L=J pretty much confirmed XD
Raptor Jesus By who? Anyone who could confirm this is dead. How will GRRM reveal this if it's true? Jon doesn't even have the white hair of a Targaryen.
Raptor Jesus No one alive can confirm that Jon Snow has Targaryen blood. Ned told no one. Perhaps only Benjen who is MIA.
Phuck Ewe like i said, i've got no idea how they'll reveal it, but they will do! :)
Phuck Ewe Bran may be able to see it in av vision in the next book. It is said that people with greensight can see through the eyes of veirwoods. Lyanna and Raegar visited a veirwood and something happaned there that we don't know. Maybe they got married there, or made Jon.
Actually jojen reeds father would know and he is still alive, and melissandre is looking like a likely candidate to be the one who reveals it
Give Tolkien his r's back
boo
I think he should keep them. He deserves it.
Tolkien is 6 feet under, I doubt he'd mind.
amari17 tell that to the mines of moria!
recipe to become a world famous fantasy writer
Have R. R. as your middlename and your good to go
At least put his name in the freaking title of the video.
+Diego Golo Seriously. Who doesn't know it at this point?
***** He's as forgetable as george lucas.
+varun009 It's not a point of knowing or not knowing, it is acknowledging who he is, what he created. Without him there would be nothing.
Idk, it might be stupid but it bothers me
Wait!! George is Targaryen?
Daniel Sparks He's the Mad King.
+xxlCortez More like the "Faceless God". He is the one true God of Westeros :)
+Tracie Carvin He technically actually is lol he created everything therefore he is the one true God.
Martin looks like a 66 year old Peter Jackson. Very weird.
Never seen them in the same room
+Lucius Vorenus 😱
Why is he even having this interview? He should be home writing.
+fosheimdet LMFAO GOOD STUFF
Let him have a life
The Panda King I think it's a joke
Lmao funny joke😂
such a good interview and such a good writer
A man I greatly respect in the fiction / fantasy realm. Gary Gygax, David Gemmel etc. It is said that he wrote some of the episodes for the 1990s version of The Twighlight Zone - I remember those .. he's come a long way since then !
1:26 George needs to watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer!
I love how he gives honest answers and he's not afraid to speak up about what he believes in. What a legendary author.
Take notes Isayama... *DON'T* change your story...
Creator of which series if I might ask
Attack on Titan
in the beginning everyone could die nobody was safe, but that all changed
as an exempel he was going to kill the potato girl but did not since the fans loved her
he wanted a dark and brutal ending to the series with the titans killing all humans.
but he changed his vision for the ending when the show became popular
Yup, i stopped reading the manga for a while now. I'm waiting for the 3rd season of anime to finish then maybe if i still like it, i will continue to read it.
But what he did, killed my interest for the story
Fantasy was no sex and violence
Tolkien came and added the violence
Then G. R. R. Martin came and added the sex
:D
And thats why grimma stabbed Saruman after he told frodo that grimma has eaten some other hobbit and it ended by archers killing grimma who was trying to run away. That or any other battle in lotr, hobbit, unfinished tales or silmarillion. His books are full of violence. Not saying that i dont like them. Btw Yeah i read the books ;)
Im not saying that his books were filled with violence. Im just saying that there was some violence in it.
Seems like a simple miscommunication- apologies, and good day
+simon kolecek At what point in history did fantasy tales not contain violence?
That's a terribly inaccurate and unintelligent opinion my friend
I hope martin will be able to make a cameo at some point in the series :D
Is it me or does it feel like none of these interviewers have read the books? All the question are addressed as if HE wrote the show.
Jordan Mumford
He has written several episodes of Game of Thrones himself. So I think it's okay to ask him about the show.
Just a cool guy with an awesome, awesome imagination.
He seems like such an excellent person to interview! Not just because he's George RR martin but he's gracious and open and honest with his answers and in no way pretentious! Wow what a guy
Every inteview I have seen of GRRM hes mentioned Tolkien.
I swear to God, in 9/10 of his interviews he's asked the same goddamn things.
good man
I have never hear him speak before, however he gives very thoughtful and meaningful answers and doesn't skirt the hard questions.
R+L = J confirmed. Also, Bolt-On.
Not confirmed
Glegane Bowl Confirmed.
GET HYPED!!!
I enjoy the way this man answers his questions. Very complete.
CLEGANEBOWL CONFIRMED
Samwell Tarly on the Iron Throne when it's all said and done
...well I can't see him being anything less than Grand Maester to whoever is ruling.
He is definitely pivotal.
There won't be any Throne in the end)
There won't be any Throne in the end)
If only Bioware had the same philosophy for writing stories.
I've never seen a game in my life that has a story and characters of this caliber. On the bio ware note... Kotor was great, me1 was also a great story (they kept getting more actiony after that) the dragon age series is quite intense and is chock full of lore and other goodies, even books have been published for it. Despite that's it's nowhere near as intense as GRRM stories are, they're still great stories
jaime ruiz I don't think so
*****
Yup, and the sequels all became progressively worse as they released them due to massive and pervasive retcons and script rewrites.
spin off series about House Targaryen from Aegon I to the Mad King
Such a brilliant show can only come from such a brilliant mind!
I wish Martin could understand that when we guess his plots and then read those plots....we feel awesome and connected to another person who thinks along the same lines. He should love that we guess whats happening....no one elses books are arousing such passion and creativity.
I really like his answer to the feminist question
Bless him! Love George what a man!
Lemme see if I got this R + L = J thing right. Robert + Lannister = Joffrey? He was the rightful king all along???
Ramsay + Lysa = Jorah
Ragane targaerian + Someone = Jon Snow
Lol no it's Danny's Uncle Raghare or whaever and Ned Starks syster leianna or whatever her name is are Jon Snows parents
+Sean Jones Rhaegar is Dany's older brother.
crys targaryen Yeah I was wrong, but he's not her father. He's her older brother.
awoiaf.westeros.org/images/c/c6/House_Targaryen_Family_tree.jpg
props to the interviewer, asked exactly what we were thinking
love that guy. and I found the answer I was looking for.. he thought about changing stuff cuz ppl found out about his plots and plans but he didn't.
George is one of the few people ive ever heard in an interview actually give an answer to a question
Hodor+The Hound=John
He is so smart, a joy to listen to ... jumping from subject to subject and understanding different mediums.
He should be at home writing...
Tony Bjornson Oh no! Please... I wasn't being serious. I was being sarcastic and making reference to what everyone's opinion is on how awesome the world he created is.
Obviously it would be great if he could just pump out story 24/7, but the man can do whatever he pleases!
xhound
Oh I see. Sarcasm went over me head.
Tony Bjornson happens :D
xhound
Breathing heavily... calming down... okay. Okay. How are your days everyone?
the last question, and the way George answered it.
mann this guy, so respectable XD
I love how he answered those social justice concerns. He aint no feminist!
I adore this man and his books... I could listen to him talk all day!
what's with "ask everybody about feminism" thing?
This was a good interview. Finally a reporter, who is a pro.
I've been waiting for Winds of Winter forever now, I would never forgive GRRM if he died before finishing the series!!
There's one character that if he killed off, the fans are going to defenitely cry a river of blood : himself.
Don't jinx it.
Sorry...
At 7:15 gmt GRR MARTIN died at home from a heart attack!
MariusThePaladin If the Stone Lady can be alive then I'd say just about anything is possible no matter how bleak things look.
Brilliant interview, great pleasure listening to George, and the questions were very good as well :)
5:59 m'lady
^^Underrated comment.
Respect. A neat insight into his serious side, steering away from gimmicky mtv-esque interviews.
So does that mean we guessed right that L+R=J?
I have tremendous respect to this author for his measured and insightful responses to the questions.
Not a feminist
Such an intelligent man, no wonder he made up such a complicated and interesting world that is Game Of Thrones. Great guy!
Did Tumblr write these questions?
CXep jnbbbbjjjkknbnbnkkklmmmmmllkkkkkkkkkkkkkkjkoplklkkkjkkkkjkioooooookkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkmmjjkklkkkkio+k((((9((((??(((((?({({(
J R R Tolkien - The Hobbit & Lord of the Rings
George Lucas - Star Wars
Gene Roddenberry - StarTrek
J K Rowling - Harry Potter
George R R Martin - Game of Thrones
In my opinion these are the best of all time. Not all did books but some did series or films.
Grand meister Martin
That was an excellent interview.
Interviewer: When will we see the new book?
George R.R. Martin: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA - When It's Done.
Rofl.
I appreciate this writer so much. What a lovely person.
Ive always wanted that feeling of not knowng.
he looks like samwell tarly after graduate from old city..
+Alvenansula old town....
My first thought was, "Aww, look at Sam all grown up!"
The Citadel... >.
I love hearing this man speak. Very articulate :)
